Hello everybody Wanted to tell you that we have a new CD to be released on May 5th. The title is "Two Dimes And A Nickel". The title song has been out to DJ's since March 15th on the latest Prime Cuts. Hope you've had a chance to hear it by now and hope you like the song and the CD. IMO, it's a great collection of very well written songs. We'd appreciate you helping us keep the Cd going by requesting songs from you're local Bluegrass radio. For Marty, Robert, Owen, Adaam and David Best for Now!

Hello again!! Hope everybody is well and doing good. Since the last post, we've been trying to get a bunch of things done, sounds par for the course, don't it. As Fall gets closer, we all try to tie up all the summer loose ends before OLD MAN WINTER rears his ugly head. The festival season (outdoor at least) is coming to an end and we start more indoor shows. The Autumn season is my favorite, with all the beautiful colors, glorious sites EVERYWHERE! Cindy and I had our anniversary on October 22, our twentieth. It's hard to believe, those 20 years have flew by! Continueing from the last blog, the Arcadia, MD. WAS GREAT, A REAL BIG CROWD! Everybody seemed to be having a great time. Got to visit a lot with Ray and Nona Davis, both were doing well. Got to see a former WRB bandmate, Jeff Griffey at the show. He was there performing with his own group, The Mississippi Sawyers, a killer group. I think they've really got it going on, check them out when you can. Also visited with another couple of Alabama folks and former bandmates, Stan Wilemon and Gary Waldrep. Another highlight for me was hearing Larry Sparks do John Deere Tractor! Does it really get better than that? It was SPECIAL that night for my ears. Visited IBMA on Friday nite and saw a bunch of friends, heard some great musik, ate some good BBQ while watching the Grascals and Mountain Heart + Tony Rice. A highlite for me was seeing Victor and Malieka Hall from Florida. They're part of a great band in Florida, great musicians, world-class people! Special friends I don't get a chance to see often enough. We left IBMA around 1am heading to Rosine , KY. for the Bill Monroe Homeplace Festival. That is without doubt one of my very favorite events thast we play each year. The karma is always there, always a great Spirit in the air. Again, the crowd was huge all four days. Robert Montgomery performed with a number of groups there, so you'll be seeing his smiling face on a number of "Cumberland Highlanders" T.V. Shows next year. If you've never been to Rosine for the annual festival, you really should plan on attending in 2009. It's really a special event, a special place. Also, you can see the boyhood home of Bill Monroe, it's all right there! About 3 years ago, Campbell Mercer, the festival's promoter gave me a tiny seedling fom the huge oak tree that has stood in front of Bill Monroe's home for a hundred years or more, it is a huge tree. Cindy and I planted the seedling behind our home and the 2007 and 2008 summer was really dry in our area, but that little tree has survived and is flourishing. That dry weather and my sometimes forgetting to water it didn't stop it. If you've ever tried to raise a seedling , you know it's hard to keep them living early on, or it has been for us. I told Cindy that little tree was just as tough as Bill. I expect it to make it, don't you? Alot of highlights at Rosine, certainly seeing and hearing Frank Wakefield after a few years was especially fun for me! I've often said that I think his Loar is the hands down best mandolin I've ever had in my hands . We visited Palatka, Florida on October 9, that was the first fall festival at Palatka. Norman Adams' Spring fest at Palatka has been so well recieved that he decided to add a fall show. The Thursday crowd was large and looks like the Fall show will be a big success! From there we were back in our neck of the woods in Jasper, AL. on Friday, October 10 for the Blackwater Bluegrass Festival. It's one of the best festivals we have in Alabama, hope you can visit the show in the future, it's a good one. A lot of our family and friends got to attend this show. Robert's Mom and Dad were there, some of Adam's family attented as well as Cindy and my Mom and Aunt. From there an all night drive to Herndon, VA. for an indoor concert on Saturday night and then a good night's sleep before a Sunday afternoon show in Marydel, DE. Then two days in W.V in the studio before heading back home to Alabama. Lately, I've been trying to catch up with everything at home that I've been putting off all summer. In between road dates since early June, we've been in the studio (River Track Studio ,Fort Gay,W.V.) recording a new CD. With the busy summer season and recording in between, we've been real busy and away from home alot the last few months. Earlier this week, we finished with the recording and will be mixing the songs the first part of November. It is a great collection of songs, the majority have never been recorded before, I do believe you'll like them. To say we are excited would be an understatement. It's always a special thrill to work hard on a recording and feel something special comes out of it, something you can feel or might move you. I hope you will like the material and performance as much as we do. Going to be in Ohio and Virginia on the 31st and November 1st. Hope it'll be a safe trip and I'll look forward to next time, till then, take care! David

Hi Everybody We had a great last week that started on Wednesday at Grant's Farm in St. Louis. Yeah, Grant's Farm, former homeplace for the Busch family. It was built around 1913, BEAUTIFUL! Also, in the 1830's U.S. Grant owned a portion of the land. We've played there in the past few years, but this time Jim Kerber had some time to show us around prior to the show. It was threatening rain, so we performed in the carriage room. You've seen those carriages that the big Clydesdale horses pull. It was a great night and much fun! We moved over to Salem, IL. for Marty's big Bluegrass and BBQ Fest. and homesteaded there for 3 days. Marty had a great lineup and event (as always): yes, it was really happening there, I wish you could have been with us in Salem and hope you can make it in 2009. A lot of our friends from around 16 states were there. Marty told me today that the City Tourism Society said it was a GO for 2009, so "Mark Your Calenders" for the Thursday , Friday and Saturday after Labor Day Monday in 2009!! All roads lead to Salem, IL. , hometown of William Jennings Bryan, Days of Our Lives, Miracle Whip (Whoa!), and yes, Marty Bryan Hays!!! The webmaster for the great John Hartford site was visiting Salem and got some great video of the show. You can see alot of great footage by going to www.johnhartford.org. It's the next best thing if you weren't there! All the guys are doing well and we're looking forward to a great Festival in Arcadia, Md. on September 20. It's the 25th Year Anniversity Show in Arcadia, Bill and Linda Hale have booked a huge lineup. Ray Davis will be there MCing, that'll be worth the ticket price to me. Really looking forward to seeing Ray and Nona and all our friends up that way!! We'll save you a seat. Until next time, David

Hi Friends
Hope your Summer's been going great, Summertime's Past and Gone (just about) and we've been travelling a ton the last three months. Chip and Randy have been keeping us busy (a good thing) with shows from Minnesota to Florida. A lot of shows in many states, a bunch of fun and memories and not near enough sleep. And during this real heavy road time period, we've been recording songs for our third Rebel release. The CD is loaded with great material by Alan Johnston, Tommy Freeman, Jim Eanes, Jim Kelly, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Toy Caldwell, yes MTB"s Toy Caldwell (guess which one that might be, bet you'll never guess)! We'll get a January or February 2009 release date on it, so naturally we're hoping you'll get one and give a listen and let us know what you think. Truly, the songs are great and I think and hope you'll like our treatment. We're recording in Ft. Gay, W.V. at River Track Studios (as we have the past two CD's), Otis Lynn Dillon and Robert Maynard are engineering . Marty, Robert, Adam and Owen are all doing well and wanted me to say Hi to you. Marty wanted me to invite you to His Big Bluegrass and BBQ Festival in Salem, IL. (Marty's Home Town). It's happening September 4,5 and 6, 2008.. Marty's booked a great big lineup of talent, he's planning to fill you up with Salem Hospitality, BBQ AND Bluegrass. Also, there's always lots of other happenings in Salem that weekend, a great place to be on Thursday, Friday and Saturday AFTER Labor Day Monday. You can get all the info at www.bluegrassbbq.com. Check out the site, then come and check out this great festival, it is really a special happening. We have a good many more dates before the end of 2008 and hope to see you a one of them. As always, be safe and we'll look forward to next time!! David

We might be the luckiest band on earth. Really folks. To think that we get to travel and play our music for your good friends all over the country. That’s amazing, isn’t it?
Last week our first stop was Teaneck,New Jersey on the beautiful campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University for a special live show with our friend Carol Beaugard (Host of the wonderful "Lonesome Pine RFD" show)...and MAN,was it a blast! The show was broadcast over WFDU-FM 89.1,and also over the wonderful website www.bluegrasscountry.org operated by the fine folks at WAMU in Washington D.C. (Hi Ray Davis!!!!)...What a start, huh? By the way,we’ll have sound bites and pics from that show up soon. Thanks Carol! You’re the best!Next,it was on to Mamaroneck,NY to play the beautiful Emilin Theatre www.emelin.org . What a time we had there! The pizza we found in town was the best we’d ever had!!!!( www.yelp.com/biz/pizza-gourmet-mamaroneck )
The venue was BEAUTIFUL with great sound(THANKS Mr. Soundman!!!) and the crowd was WILD! We worked hard for the folks there, and they were VERY good to us! We love ya’ Mamaroneck, and can’t wait to come back!
The next day we ate WAY too much seafood in Connecticut (www.chowderpot.com) on our way to Lexington Mass. to play for the fine folks at the Boston Bluegrass Union(www.bbu.org.) in the beautiful National Heritage Museum. www.monh.org
They always put on fine shows, and we were glad to share the bill with our good friends,The Grascals. Those cats TORE IT UP,and we all had a great time! We can’t thank the good people of NJ,NY,CT, and MA enough! We had the BEST time, and can’t wait to come back.
It was a great week....Stay tuned for more updates from David Davis and The Warrior River Boys!
