Hey party people. Happy New Year! So its finally 2009 - I have a feeling its going to be a good year. I'm putting the finishing touches on the two new recordings that will be released in a month to make up Too Soon/Too Late 2.0. They sound really good and I'm excited to get them out into the world. The new website is on its way as well, but since I some-what foolishly chose to tackle the re-design myself, its coming more slowly than I'd hoped - but hang in there - its looking good.
Well, after a long family trip over Christmas and a couple days of lounging over New Years, its time to get back to work! See you out there...

Hey, whats cookin good lookin?!
So i just wanted to give you good folks a little insight into the immediate future of RHM.
Basically the deal is this - new recordings, new website, new myspace, new press photos, new shoes, new haircut, new cut to my jib. Russell Howard 2.0 will unveil himself at the beginning of 2009. I'm excited. The couple new recordings are great. I'll be doing a college/club tour all spring long. Expect some TV. Expect some radio. Expect some front row sing-a-longs. I'm pumped out of my mind.
More details to come.... stay tuned...!

Hey Everybody! Well, the NACA conference was a huge success. I am in talks with several schools for shows this spring across the south, so see you soon collegiate america!
Went on an iTunes spree today. iTunes is freakin dangerous! You can spend alot quickly...becasue there's no checkout, you can just buy and buy, and by and by you've spent your whole month's income. But good music is worth it. So when YOU go to itunes, don't leave without my album...=)
Halloween is coming up...trying to decide what i should be. I have this Halloween concert in York SC and so i need to find something i can wear on stage. Theres a video on youtube of every member of the fray dressed up as spiderman... but there's only one of me, and i don't think spiderman is cool enough without the redundancy of 5 spidermen. suggestions??!!
thats all folks

Hey Peoples. I am going back to College! Well, not actually, but close enough. At the end of the month I am attending the National Association for College Activities South Eastern conference in South Carolina. The point is that if you are a student at a SE college, I very well could be coming to your school to perform! So if you know anybody on your union board or activities council, pass along a good word! Also, I recently played two cool shows in Chapel Hill, home of UNC. I had a great time at both shows and am very excited to come back and play some more. So basically, i've been hard at work with preparing for the NACA conference by trying to put my mind back in college gear... The best way to do so is to actually go back...so I went back to my college for homecoming this weekend and had a good time with some buddies...its wierd when you go back and hardly recognize anyone... gettin old! anyway, take care, i'll be back soon with more posts...going to try to do one a week....cross your fingers! -Russell

Hey peoples. Its been a while since I've written anything here, but as things are ramping up for a big august and september, I'm starting back up the blog to keep you all updated! First of all, I took a vacation. Well, I played two shows, but it still was a vacation... in Colorado - it was great, no internet, did alot of reading and just being outside in the mountains. I was in Aspen for two weeks and had shows the weekend in the middle down in Carbondale and Grand Junction. The shows were alot of fun, and it was great to wake up in my loft bunk the morning after a show and not on a floor, a hotel, or a couch! As we were packing up to leave, we had a visitor. My parents and I had gone to see Joshua Bell play with the Aspen Chamber Orchestra (my father is a percussion prof. at the Aspen Music Festival and School in the summers) When we returned there was a giant brown bear in the back of the house. My father sprang up the stairs to the entrance on the second floor to get the video camera. He got to the glass door and stopped. He said "he's been inside. The Bear's been inside!" We unlocked the door and went inside and the kitchen was ripped apart...food everywhere and the fridge and freezer open and empty. It was amazing. We went downstairs and saw that the downstairs door was locked....how the heck did he get in?? I went into my downstairs bathroom and saw a gaping hole where my window had been. It was one of those crank swing out windows and had been open about 2 inches, and had been nearly ripped off of its hinges! Somehow he squeezed his 1000lb body through a 1.5x2.5 foot window just to eat a dozen cookies, a whole carton of sour cream and a block of tofu. (he tried to eat frozen chicken and ground beef, but it was too hard for him) Luckily, we didn't have so much food left in the kitchen that he couldn't get back out the window! Lesson learned - eat all the cookies as soon as they're baked and next time you're at the store, just forget the tofu. more to come....stay tuned!

Hey peoples! Well, i have reached the 1000 mark! With 1000 friends/bands/fans at my control i will...um...uhh...i can...um anywho, I'm very happy! Celebrate with me by downloading 'perfect' and Pre Ordering the CD! (now for the bloggy part of the blog) I have been listening to Ray Sings Bassie Swings alot recently. If you haven't heard of it, GET it. Lost Ray Charles vocals put to new arrangements by the count bassie orchestra...a wonder of technology and it's fantastic. Otherwise I'm waiting for press kit supplies to arrive and have been proofing the prelim designs for www.russellhowardmusic.com which should be up fairly soon! I should have a couple more shows to post soon, so check back for updates on that. Take Care! -Russell

Hey everyone, I hope you are enjoying the album preview! i should have some tracks from the cd up soon, i get the master back today or tomorrow. Sorry about anna's waltz having skips in it. I've tried to replace it with a cleanly ripped version, but myspace won't let me delete it, so until that's fixed, apologies. -russell
