Hey everyone,

As you may or may not know Sherlock's Daughter has made it through to the finalists for SOYA.... we are pretty excited about this, the other finalists for music are :
Songs
Oh Mercy
Both of whom we love....

Also to add to our excitement we've just found out we've been nominated for SMAC!

We also just want to say a quick Thank you to all you guys for your support, we've had a pretty fun time this year playing shows and releasing our EP - so being nominated for two pretty incredible awards is really just quite fantastic!

you can vote for us (if you like) for the SMAC awards here :

We are currently in NYC - spending most of our nights out and not climatising to the difference in time at all ..... but they do say that New York never sleeps and well they are quite right ... or at least - we don't seem too.

xxx much love

Current mood:  chipper
The first leg of our tour is complete!

The trip so far has entailed:

- an eclectic and inventive salad (including vegetarian sausages and strawberries)
- an unenthusiastic bedroom disco party at 2am
- a demonic ceiling fan that spoke to us in whispers when set to 'one', and then screamed when set to 'three' (it was hard to sleep knowing it was up there, and so we didn't)
- singing of Beach Boys in the car, settling on OLAibi and CAN
- meeting Tim's grandma
- finding The Devoted Few to be a charming bunch of people (we are very attached to them now and have needed to call them each night while we've been apart, longing to be together again in Melbourne)
- thinking that The Troubador is a great venue
- discovering Newcastle to have the largest home television antennas in Australia, quite often ridiculously disproportional to the size of the houses
- liking Billy from The Inheritors' homemade button bracelet, and tossing up whether or not to steal his idea, patent the design and then sell them as SD merchandise... but not admitting it

Below are some photos that may or may not relate to the above statements, along a short video about a horse.

Here's some links to some reviews from last weekend's tour with School Of Seven Bells:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fasterlouder (Melbourne 25/4)

"...The musical influences on their Myspace page cover the entire musical spectrum from Iron and Wine to Kraftwerk to John Cage and this is reflected in their live show. Kicking off with a euphoric single chord jam in the vein of Sterolab, it was an absolute belter, all kick drums and downstrums. There music explored an interesting dynamic between metronomic instrumental sections, replete with 8-Bit synths and ambient atmospherics, and low key, shouted vocal parts from every member of the band, making great use of non-musical instruments, like sandpaper and a block of wood..."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'REGRET' Blog (Brisbane 24/4)

"...Sydney quintet Sherlock’s Daughter manage to gain spirited and vocal applause despite audience members still trickling in at this stage of the night. Although no carbon copy of the headliners, they are a perfect support act for this evening, as they create a dreamy pop soundscape crammed with electronica, intuitive drumming, echo-drenched guitars and fine vocals from front woman Tanya (at times boosted further when blended with some imaginative group harmonies)..."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fasterlouder (Sydney, 23/4)
"...Sherlock’s Daughter approached the tried-and-tested alternative pop route with the kinds of new ideas and gravitas that once made the Howling Bells one of our most interesting exports. Watch this space...
