We must have passed by it at least three times before it hit us. A Real life Lego Death Star. Sure, it wasn't life-size, it wasn't made of real Legos, and it "probably" didn't share that same fatal flaw, but dammit, we were impressed! It isn't often you get to see one of your imaginary creations come to life completely by accident.
FEAST THINE EYES!!!!
Here we gaze upon the item with confusion. . .

Here we apear to be pleased by the item. . .

And here, we naturally feel compelled to flee the item.

So, ya know. . . FUN!

It's fast approaching boys and girls. That horrifying/beautiful/horrifyingly beautiful coming together of all of us folks who liked things that the other kids just didn't like. I wasn't sure if I'd be going untill now. Who was I kidding? I can't miss this bussiness. However, since we procrastinated for so long I'm afraid that once again we will be without a booth this year, and instead we will simply enjoy the convention the way the stuff gods intended, by wandering bleary eyed, and essentially aimlessly through the halls and auditoriums. Since this will certainly make us impossible to find, I've decided to let you guys do the legwork on this one. Let us know through this blog, (or via message if you are one-a-those shybies) what events you will be throwing or attending. I'm not saying we can attend all, or possibly any of them, but who knows right? I'm not psychic or anything stupid and impossible like that. The point is, if I go another year without meeting a single one of you guys I'm going to start assuming that none of you actually exist. And if that were so, how could you keep writing me comments and messages and stuff? I don't know either, but face it. You just don't exist.
Nerdward HO!

So I don't know who did this, and no. It wasn't me. But right now our strip is mentioned on the Wikipedia description of Comic-con.

WEIRD.

Hey guys, I thought I should take some time to explain why the comic is so. . . simple this week. I just got home from an amazing trip to Springfield Ohio to visit some friends, and I did absolutely NO work on the strip whatsoever while I was there. I thought I could pound out a halfway decent looking page if I worked on it all Sunday, but I failed to take into consideration that Sunday was Easter, and my family would rip my frozen ears off if I didn't stop by, so yeah. . . I like my ears. What you see here now is the result of a massive amount of corner cutting, and really only took about six hours to toss together, but sometimes these things are just going to happen. Sorry about that, I swear the next one will look better, and maybe I'll try to get a new Fuschia Plot 5 up this week if I ever get over my jet lag. Anyway, I had an amazing time in the Midwest, playing in the snow and all that, and I'm in a real "screw California" mood so I'm going to go be angry somewhere else. Thanks guys!

That's right boys and girls. 100 comics. I figured I needed to write that down SOMEWHERE, so here it is. . . Triple digits!
. . .
You may use this blog as a place to shower us with praise.

Yeah, so apparently according to Wikipedia we are no longer worth mentioning on their site. Too small time, or something of that nature. I'm going to try REALLY hard to give a shit about this, but I'm gonna be honest with you guys. . . I don't think I really give a shit about this. Maybe some of you do though. Let me know in my new blog if this is the case. -Zach

I'm just going to say this because I think it's kinda weird. No one. Not one person has ever asked me who the girl with the short pigtails is in all those group images. This is actually weirder for me than it is for you. Unless you dig through the old promo images and notice her for the first time. Then I think it's just generally weird all around. Heh heh heh. -Zach

I know I haven't posted on this thing in quite a while, but you see, I was kidnapped by ant people. That's right, they exist. I managed to escape by killing their queen, and coating myself in her pheramones or however it's spelled.
But you guys don't want to hear about that.
Instead I thought I'd talk about something I learned a couple of days ago that's been troubling me ever since. Gamer Lamer has ended. Just like that. The last comic provided no closure to their epic storyline, it wasn't even in color. Just gone. Most of you know that Gamer Lamer was the first webcomic to contact us when we were just starting out, and right up to the end they sorta remained our closest colleagues, (regardless of the fact that we never met in the real world, and I couldn't identify their faces in a lineup if you held a gun to my head.) The point is, it got me thinking about what we do, and how fragile the whole thing is by nature. I mean think about it. We pump hours of our own time, and sometimes hundreds of our own dollars into these cartoons that rarely even get read by anyone. I'm surprized any of us are willing to do it at all to be honest. There is no profit in this unless you're Megatokyo, or Penny Arcade. And most of us aren't. I'm pretty sure I'm not. CONvicts has made a grand total of three dollars in the year and a half it has been online, and I honestly don't know if we'll ever see more than that, so why do we do it? Why did Gamer Lamer do it? Why did they stop?
Well, don't worry, because all I know is that I CAN'T stop. I guess I can't stop because these people in our comic strip have become as real to me as some of my friends, and I would honestly feel bad if they died. I can't stop doing it because as much as I would like to be spending my freetime finding new and interesting ways to waste freetime, I would hate myself even more than I already do if I thought that I was being unproductive. And I can't stop because I just love getting a new script from Sam every week, and finding out what's going to happen to these guys next. It's honestly one of the highlights of my week.
CONvicts may never be big. It may never be my job. (which is a shame, because my real job has been applying increasingly intense amounts of pressure on my soul on a daily basis, and I'm afraid it may turn me into a bitter man if it hasn't already.) But CONvicts isn't going to stop for simple things like that. And in the end I guess I DO know why we do it. Why all webcomic writers and artists do it, and that's because we want to do it. When your brain works like ours does you simply have to make stuff. HAVE TO. And feeding that need is what really matters.
I'm honestly going to miss Gamer Lamer, but we've made new friends since them, and these things happen.
I'd really like to hear from you guys on this one, your comments are always appreciated.
-Zach

In the last comic, our fearless heroes discussed what they would be if they were distractions. Upon reflection, I determined that, while I like dynamite in a trash can as much as the next guy, I would most likely be a giant bat smashing through the skylight and stealing something off the buffet table. This led me to wondering what distractions or diversions others would be... which leads me to YOUR assignment, true believers. What kind of distraction do you think you are? Whether it's a significantly placed new and interesting kind of beetle, or shouting at the top of your lungs "Mon Dieu! The rats have eaten my car," with equal proficiency in both languages, we want to hear about it. Thank you, and pleasant diversions, -Sam
