Live in Long Island? Well next time you are on the LIRR look around and wonder how many of the workers are truly disabled.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/21/nyregion/21lirr.html?_r=2&ref=nyregion&pagewanted=all

Best summary paragraph from article:
Virtually every career employee — as many as 97 percent in one recent year — applies for and gets disability payments soon after retirement, a computer analysis of federal records by The New York Times has found. Since 2000, those records show, about a quarter of a billion dollars in federal disability money has gone to former L.I.R.R. employees, including about 2,000 who retired during that time.

Read this today and I think it signifies how I feel.  However, just like the author, I understand in the rationality of the New Atheist's but am not ready yet to chastise practically everyone else because of their beliefs.

...the atheist prayer: ...our reason will subjugate our
superstition,...our intelligence will check our illusions, [and]...we
will be able to hold at bay the evil temptation of faith.

Current mood:  aggravated

In an effort to refrain from posting political tid-bits on my mind on AV, i'll post them here because (a) that is not the direction I wish to take with AV and (b) my ramblings will probably reach more people here on MySpace.  So here is blog one:
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Net neutrality:  If you dont know what those two words mean and you value MySpace or any other website you visit regularly please please please read this very through WikiPedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality) - if nothing else just read the first line atleast.  Then continue below.

Currently there is a bill stalled in the Senate and thankfully so that would outright allow the creation of a two tiered web.  Forget, the creation of giants such as YouTube and MySpace from scratch because the big players will simply cut deals with the Internet Service Providers to not allow the little dogs to become big.

But, what I love is the idiocy used bye Lisa Sutherland (in the middle of the article) to suggest that by not having any sort of law we are at a worse position.

Madam Sutherland I'd like to say: No protection is better than complete control.  Let me live by my own will - I do not need you to take care of me.

To anyone who reads this, please continue to support organizations such as MoveOn.org and ItsOurNet.org in helping to curtail the passing of this bill.
