Yellow Bird Project was featured on 'That Morning Show', a live segment where they talked about the project, showed off some of our sweet t-shirts (Little Boots & Bon Iver), and also had some delightful conversation around The Indie Rock Coloring Book. They had some children on the show, coloring their hearts out, as well as a couple others who did the same via satellite. Pretty much the cutest thing ever.

Top 10 reasons why The Indie Rock Coloring Book makes a great gift* *Responses generated by our blog visitors
1) My son turns 3 in a week and a half, I now have to do everything I can to keep him from even remotely knowing who Kanye West is. This coloring book would go a long way. - Philip O'Neal
2) This book would be the ultimate date night! Sitting at home listening to MGMT, Rilo Kiley and Of Montreal and colouring in this amazing book with my boyfriend. It is unmistakably the greatest thing i have heard of lately. - Heather Schoch
3) Because it’s sexier than a traditional coffee table book. - Megan
4) I would love to win a copy of The Indie Rock Coloring Book so I could use it for embroidery transfers! I would make the coolest t shirts for my daughters (or myself!) as well as pillows, tea towels, wall hangings or whatever I fancied at the time. Of course I would enjoy the actual purpose of the book and color with my 3 year old daughter. - Amy
5) i give you… indie rock coloring book inspired haiku: borderline hipster / is broke but loves coloring / niece is turning two… - Anneonymity
6) It would be excellent for a college student who is dirt poor and looking for new ways to procrastinate besides Facebook, i.e. me. - Lily
7) Because it combines some of the best things in the world: awesome bands and coloring. - Sarah
8) Because giving this book to your indie music-loving girlfriend is a much more effective way of getting out of the doghouse than sending flowers and a complimentary “I’m sorry” card on a plastic stick. - Krystian Marron
9) Because it would be a perfect thing to keep a friend stuffed with happy memories in the long winter months she is spending in freakin’ MOSCOW! he would probably think about the night when we colored it over a bottle of wine and remember that she can always just come home, if everything goes to hell... - Christine
10) My sister just started college and went from a graduating class of ten to a school with about 20,000 students. When I was a freshman, I coped with going from a teeny, tiny school to a big one by coloring. Nothing can calm the soul of an eighteen year-old like a box of Crayolas and some black lines on paper. However, I was stuck with whatever I could print off of the internet (often Big Bird and Cinderella) and I would like better for her than that. What could be better than the Indie Rock Coloring Book? Oh, that’s right: nothing. - Amanda Pyle > Click here to read the rest of the responses! > Cick here to buy The Indie Rock Coloring Book!

Mr. Yellow Bird loves good company, and the great outdoors. Here is, in his many forms; Hoodies, t-shirts, coloring books. We've just returned from our Indie Rock Coloring Book Tour across San Francisco, NYC, and Montreal. It was a big success - we sold tons of merch, met loads of nice people, and had a really fun time. Our New York show with Elvis Perkins and Ra Ra sold out (close to 300 people!).
Click below for a recap and photos of that event.

Our Montreal book launch event also pretty much rocked. It was a family friendly afternoon event. There were plenty of adults and children - eating cookies, drinking juice, coloring, and screaming for ice cream! Murray Lightburn of The Dears put on a special acoustic performance, which was enjoyed by the likes of YBP, CTV, MTV, Sam Roberts, and everyone else who was there! Click below for a recap and photos of this event.
- Give it to your niece or nephew, teach em' a thing or two ;) - Bring it with you to a dinner party, with wine and crayons! - Create the ultimate indie rock package, with a [20]YBP tee!

Today we announce the release of our very own (and what we believe to be the first, ever) Indie Rock Coloring Book! We collaborated with UK based illustrator Andy J. Miller to create the coffee table book of your indie dreams. One coloring activity page for every band involved with YBP. The result is a splendid array of mazes, word puzzles, and dozens of other colorful (or shall we say colorless) adventures, directly inspired by the bands who have supported YBP over the years. Find all of the bird's in Devendra Banhart's beard, put your hands together for Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's crazy color carnival, or give Rilo Kiley their most current hairstyles! With direct input and/or general inspiration from bands like MGMT, Iron & Wine, Bon Iver, and more!
Click here to see some more examples. Along with one of our t-shirts, this coloring book would make the perfect gift for any indie music afficionato. For $10, with all royalties going to charity, how can you go wrong? The book is being published by Chronicle Books, and it hits stores at the beginning of September. But before then, you can pre-order the book directly from our website by clicking here. It will be shipped to you within 1-2 weeks! xoxoxo, ybp

A sweet new t-shirt from one of our
favourite bands: Of Montreal
Tonight’s the night, YBP is going to make it right. Paying homage to our home town and the inevitable heartbreakers in it, we present Of Montreal’s politically psychedelic tee shirt. Feast your eyes on the beast; the eye of the tiger; the founding fathers; and a sweet fashionable treat. This Kelly Green masterpiece from the wonders of the sunlandic twins is sure to help soothe the souls of the children at St. Jude’s hospital. We invite you to take a dip in the philanthropic wild side, fuel the fires of change, and enjoy life’s beautiful music. Click here boys and girls!

This just in: a special fantabulous delivery from yours truly, the Yellow Bird Project. We are kicking off our new website with a brand spanking new YBP logo, designed by the always talented and lovely Emy Storey. Flying high up in the sky, Mr. Yellow Bird was able to spot only the illest representation of his fly self. And this time we thought we would switch it up by creating not only a fresh t-shirt, but also monster of a sweatshirt for your feasting delight. Profits from YBP merchandise will go towards our charities and strengthening the reach of our project. Help us make a difference and spread the good YBP word. For as Dumbeldort wisely said, “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” Shine bright, look tight, and help YBP do right!
Click here to see this t-shirt in action, and here to see the hoodie!
