Friday 16th November 2007 was the date of the Paper Tigers charity single launch @ Ryde Theatre. That night has gone down in local history as one of the most varied and entertaining nights at The Venue! The place was packed, there were comedians, magicians and many kinds of musicians performing across two stages. The busy evening was sewn seemlessly together by TV presenter Chris Packham. Heads were turned and bench marks were definitley raised.
All this happened for good reason, the Paper Tigers single was being sold to raise much needed funds for St. Georges School. St. Georges is a school for children with profound and complex learning needs.
The single which is better known for the b-side 'The Making Sense Song' (of which the whole of St. Georges School feature, helping the band belt out each chorus) has been selling well over the past year. The band have been gigging all over the place playing the songs from the single at every venue, festivals, pubs, radio audiences, private partys and even other charity events have had the sound waves passed through their ears!
As a result nearly two thousand pounds has been raised by the band for St. Georges School and the single is still selling!
The band feel very proud of this achievement and feel that they to have also gained enormously from the experiences shared with the staff & pupils of St. Georges School.
Far from being the end of the story this is only the begining. Take a look at the dragon website for the next chapter www.stgeorgesdragon.com
DRAGON is a pioneering, creative learning business being run at St.Georges by the pupils of St. Georges School. The benefits are priceless!
