Just a brief update - the hiatus continues, and the focus has shifted to other projects for the forseable future. We'll keep you all posted on what's shaking when more of the foundation-laying work is done, but suffice it to say, there is some really good outside-squaretape music brewing.

Hope all is well out there in internet-land, we'll be in touch!

Hello!!

Thought we'd let y'all know what we've been up to these past few months - we've been taking a break from doing shows to focus on writing, as well as a couple of other projects.

We did recently post a demo recording of our tune "Everybody Wants You" - it came out pretty sweet! Thanks to Carl's Jr. and food poisoning, Peter was unable to make the recording date that we had scheduled, and our bud Tom Perry gracefully stepped in and subbed. The dude learned the tune (as well as two others!) in the car on the way to the studio, so his ass-kicking performance is that much more impressive.

Hope that you are all well - keep on rocking in 2008!

Kisses,
~ST

That was a kick-ass show; thanks to everyone who came out to the State Theatre last night - we rocked that shit, and your awesome energy contributed hugely. Thanks also to the Tubes, for putting on such an awesome show, and for having us on the bill.

We were so glad to rock for you all; you really made it a hell of a gig.

Happy Halloween!

Hola Hermanos,

We've had a great last few shows - thanks so much to all who came out to see us at the Elbo Room in September, and last weekend at the Hotel Utah! Both gigs were super fun, mostly thanks to all of y'all.

And now, it's time to start preparing for the big deal - we're going to be playing a Halloween show in Modesto at the State Theatre, opening for the legendary Tubes!

It's gonna be a freaky show in more ways than one - we'll try to keep up with the madness that should ensue (prosthetic breasts, fake blood, and dancing mannequins are but several of the things to expect from these guys), so if you're in the area, come on out for a night of depraved rock!

We've had about a month off, but we'll be back onstage soon with a couple of rocking shows in August - first off, we'll be playing at the Starry Plough in Berkeley on the 9th, then returning to San Francisco on 8/23 to do a show alongside the groovy Philly band Downtown Harvest and local rock stars Little Yellow Perfect - man, it's gonna be a killer night!

In the downtime, we've been doing a lot of writing, and will be heading into the studio in September to get some new recordings down, so stay tuned.

Additionally, we've been getting some great reviews for the CD - scroll down on our profile for highlights.

See you soon!

Current mood:  busy
Thanks so much to everyone who came out last night, we hope you all had as much fun as we did! It was a blast being right down there in front of everyone with no stage buffer - we gotta do stuff like that more often! Thanks too to George (A.K.A. DJ Dirty Knees) and Bill for having us - it was a blast, guys!

Onward - we are playing next Wednesday, August 11th, at the Uptown in Oakland with The Stack and Pine and Battery - we've never played there before, but are pumped to rock the place! If you're an east bay denizen and have yet to hear the new material, come on out; you'll be glad you came.

Till then, Auf.

HELL YEAH! That was quite a show - thank you so much to all the awesome folks who came out - we had a blast! Thanks also to Paul and the folks at the Elbo Room for doing such a great job running a killer music establishment (and serving Racer 5 IPA to boot), and to Sutro and Hot Mute for their great sets.

If you can believe it, we've already begun to work on putting together our full-length CD - it's in a very preliminary stage right now, but we plan on having it released by the end of 2007 or beginning of 2008 - we're very excited.

Next up: TransAm at club Eight in SOMA - in their words: "Rock 'n Roll Disco Faggotry - uh huh!" This is going to be a burner, boys and girls.

You asked for it, you got it - the closing track from our CD - an acoustic version of "Shoshana" - is now on our page, in all its tambourine smashin', guitar solo tradin' glory. Enjoy!

Hi Everyone,

The gig at Footstock was amazing - tons of people, great sound, and a killer day all around! Thanks to everyone who made it out. We've got some great audio and video from the day to share, but first:

Come see us this Saturday (the 26th) at the Make-Out Room! If you missed out on Footstock (it was just too early for some folks), this is the perfect time to catch the band in action (we don't have another gig in SF until mid-June).

It's an early gig, and we'll be doing a lot of stuff that we didn't have a chance to do at Footstock - the show opens with Jeff Campbell from the band Pine and Battery, doing an acoustic opening set at 7:30, and we go on after him at 8:30. The show ends at 9:30, and the cover is a mere $6 - come on out and get your Saturday night started off right!

Now, some cool Footstock links:

On friday, we were featured in a cool TV segment on KRON4 news - click the link to check it out, it's pretty cool. Then, the day of the gig, radio's Joanie Greggains interviewed Kirk on KGO 810 AM.

The last thing we've got is a cool
video of our performance of "Mind Control," , shot by Nervo's brother, Gabe - it came out pretty great!

As usual, you can find us online at www.squaretape.net and at myspace.com/squaretape.

See you Saturday!

The subject says it all: our drummer, Peter Thomas, will be appearing on KUSF Radio this morning, and our singer Kirk will be interviewed by Joanie Greggains on KGO 810 AM at around 9:35-9:45, so if you're not busy at Footstock (and why aren't you?), have a listen!
