Well… another year wrapped up and things are looking good.
The political climate in our country looks like it's about to make some significant changes. I can't really say whether I agree or disagree with the current tide, however I do feel that things are not working and something has got to give. If it takes a new party in power, more world leaders working together or something as simple as the common man taking responsibility for his actions, then I'm all for it. With that said, I can honestly say that I myself have had a terrific year both financially, professionally and personally. I just finished up a meeting with my account/ tax guy/advisor/attorney, and I am walking out of 2007 way ahead of where I entered. As some of you know I work as a graphic designer for a firm that will remain nameless. I pride myself on excelling in that field and this past year I have finally begun to reap the financial rewards of my years of dedication the trade. Let's just say that my house hold income is finally approaching the goal of six digits that I placed on myself a few years back. Sounds like a lot, but remember that more you make the more they take. I pay more in taxes now than I was taking home just a few years ago. Ugh…
My wife and I have a new home that is awesome, big and spacious, with a full basement that has been converted to a studio, of course. We also have an awesome little girls who is about to turn 2 in few months. She is so smart, I already have her tinkering with a keyboard and my Mom got her a harmonica. It's only a matter of time before she has her own group and is rockin' the nation, like Dad. I have really backed off the pursuit of the music end of my life. On that note, I have kinda semi-retired from performing music. After the whole Twisted Thoughts endeavor came to an end, I didn't really have the desire to start a new group, and I actually stated that at the inception of TT. This would be my last group. Plus what the underground scene has become is real joke. This is especially apparent in this area of the country, it really only takes a couple guys acting the part of a fool to drag a scene down. But on the other hand it only takes a couple guys doing things right and legit to make it explode. I passed the torch.
On the magazine front Empire Extreme is making huge strides, we are topping 20,000 unique visitors per month and it's growing almost every week. I have built up relationships with some people whom I have admired for years in the music industry and met and hung out with musical icons that most people only dream of meeting. There are many big things coming around the bend. We have extended the staff in the last few months and are looking to add a couple foreign people along with some prospects in Detroit, Philly, LA and Phoenix. It's an amazing time for all of us involved. I'm proud of all the work and effort that everybody has put into make Empire Extreme the strong and noble force that it is. This is just the beginning.

Ye of little faith, Empire has returned. You thought we were down for the count, but no, we came back swinging. We fought our way to get this issue into your hands. It was not an easy fight by any means. There were many obstacles to over come, from ugly little trolls under the bridges we had to pass, to a $6000 debt left behind by the former version of Empire. But we have emerged on the other side victorious over all our trials.
With the re-birth of Empire you will see some new features and many of your old favorites. We have changed some staff members and many of the original crew are on board and ready to help bring Empire back to the glory that it once held. As with any upstart they will be some growing pains and I hope you will all stick with us while we build a new Empire.
What you hold in your hand is just the beginning of what is planned. We are starting from the ground up. No investors, no rich uncle or record labels behind us this time. Empire is run by music lovers, period. We live and breathe the music and the industry that surrounds it. We are all doing this for free, nobody at this magazine is pulling a pay check. Are hopes are to make it advertiser & fan supported so that these individuals who have dedicated there time and resources to this idea will reap a return on their investment.
Furthermore if you are a fellow music lover, and want to spread the word, please feel free to drop us a line. We are always looking for help.
Peace, and thank you for your support.

One of the freshest underground shows to hit Pittsburgh in a long time is about to hit you right between the eyes.
Sept. 8th Deface Marketing will be introducing you to two of our newest artist. First off you will get a sneek peak at underground sensation that inspired Boondox, Pumpkin King. With his wicked new look, he will be spittin' fire over the Burgh.
We also have the infamous CRASH, making his debut as Deface artist. You may know him as the frontman of ZipperStitch and Dark Water, but this cat is bring all his metal riffage to a hip-hop stage.
Not to be outdone, Pittsburgh own rap legend, Basik Sickness will be gracing the stage with his long time collaborator, Broken Wingz.
As if we didn't fill the night with enough flavor, Deface is bringing the all mighty stench of CRAP, with all the toilet paper and plungers we cold get trucked in. Not to mention the return of Dr.Espling to the stage in his first solo performance in over 4 years. Plus we are gonna squeeze in a cool little set from another new face on the scene, emcee lb. He is an introspective cat, that drops some lyrics that make ya just kinda sit back and say.. Damn?

Sept. 8th, 2007 - 8pm $10 Cover bands and Games all night!
Games N' At - 2010 Josephine Street Pittsburgh, PA On Pittsburgh's Southside.

It funny how things work out.
Today some things have come together and solidified some thoughts I have been having over the past few months. New music is rolling off slowly for myself and I have been getting the early version of all the new CRAP tracks. THese guys are about to pump out a 2nd CD. It's really cool to see them come of age after kinda taking them under my wing, but they have taken off and begun to use the little pieces of knowledge I bestoyed onto them. Now Sorg has his own set-up for recording and they have some groups they are mentoring. Like I said full circle.
Started planning and booking shows for the summer and fall in anticipation of the new release. First couple shows will be to knock the rust off and try out they new material, new look and new show.... Lots of suprises coming up in that department.
Empire Magazine had run it's course and made it's mark. I thought it was a dead project, but it still heald a place in my heart, and low and behold an opportunity presented it's self to start publishing again. Go figure. Some contacts from the old days set the gears in motion and I just secured a new advertiser today. Full cirlcle again.
As I write this one of my all time favorite bands NEW cd is playing. The new instrumental Beastie Boys disc is crazy cool. I loved them and they insired me proably more than anybody. They were total DIY, had a magazine at one time and brought some groups under their wing... Sound familiar??? Full Circle.
Alas, I see some thing crumbiling. In my minds eye I saw these things many moons ago. But now it is coming to pass. The choice one makes are always relevent. They will come back to you some day... Full Cirlce
Enough. See ya at the shows!

Well, It's been over a year since I have posted on here. Hopefully we I can drive some more people back to this site. I have moved on from the Twisted thoughts as you all know. That may be the end of it, maybe not. All I can say is that I'm proud of the music that I created with Spider & P.
Onto the new. I have spent the last month or so regrouping and gathering ideas to concore the world. Along with that I spent a ton of time in the studio mixing and mastering the CRAP cd. They came out with a nice product. Check them out at MonkeyFlingsPoo.com
I have been writting and recording a whole new album of material. I believe some of it will suprise you, and some of it is just what the doctor orederd. I will get some samples up here soon. It is slated for an April 2007 release, and I have a bunch of homies on this record. There is actually a TV commercial ready to air too. I will try to get a copy of that up here too.
As always, contact us here at Deface if you think you are an artist worth listening to. We listen to everything that comes through.
Peace,
