We hope everyone is having a fantabulous summer. Things in Averi-ville have been quite pleasant, as we continue our first breather in 9 years....whoa! Of course we've been missing you guys (the worst part of our little absence here), but we are starting to regain some sanity after a a crazy and rigorous schedule of record-making and constant touring for nearly a decade -- yikes! So, things are truly fantastic and everyone has a smile on their face (awwww...how sweet!), but we are storming our brains with some ideas (and having some yureeka! moments) about what's coming up, so stay tuned...ya don't wanna miss this!

Quick recap of what's happening outside of Averi's Thunderdome:

Mike G. has a beautiful baby girl named Mason who already has three tattoos and raises her fingers into metal horns on a regular basis --- Daddy's little girl!! You can check out Mike and Matt with the the Joshua Tree (U2 tribute) too.

Mike C. has been in the lab conducting many experiments which I know you're going to be hearing about soon. Note: picture lots of steam, test tubes and sounds of "It's Alive"...and you'll get the idea...

Chris still holds it down, along with Matt, for local songsmith Ryan McCalmon, who is currently working on a new album (wait til you hear this sh*t! It'll blow your mind!). Visit Ryan's MySpace page for some real early demos, but the record is on the move and headed your way soon.

Stuey Tornado has been slinging for some local songwriters, including power-pop superhero Bleu, while also traveling across the countryside in a burlap sack searching for answers to "Where have all my cowboys gone?" hahah...just kiding about the last part -- couldn't resist. Though he does have a well-known soft spot for Ms. P. Cole, the "Dawson's Creek" songstress and her lovely, curly....[bleccchh]

Matt (a.k.a. Steven F. Dirtbike) has been bashing around New England with Pete Kilpatrick Band, Ryan McCalmon and The Joshua Tree. In fact this week, [here comes the plug...can you feel it?] there's quite a special show ...Pete Kilpatrick Band rocks the Paradise Lounge (Boston, MA) on Saturday, July 28th -- this gonna be a real explosive evening of rock (sounds like we're promoting a monster truck rally, huh?) -- seriously, our buddies The Brightwings also play as well as up-and-coming songwriter Jesse Dee. 18+, Doors at 8 p.m. Pete K. Band headlines! Come party with us and have the best night of your life! CLICK HERE (Dise Lounge Site) for tickets!

If you're unfamiliar with Pete Kilpatrick Band (Portland, ME), here's the quick 411 -- named "Best Act" for the last two years in the Best Music Poll for the Portland Phoenix, Matt plays on the new album as does Adam Gardner (Guster) and others, have rocked stages with Gavin Degraw, Guster, O.A.R., Blues Traveler, Rusted Root and more! The band also features Zach Jones on guitar (from As Fast As), Matt Cosby (formerly of Jeremiah Freed) and the ubiquitous Steve Morell (formerly of Sugarcoat) ..s and saxophone.

So, stay tuned...maybe you could call this the calm before the storm...keep checking the AVERI MySpace page for forthcoming updates...and hope to catch ya at the Paradise Lounge Saturday!

-- Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme (together at last, who would have ever thought?)

...literally! This weekend showed the true guts of Averi supporters. There was a state of emergency, flood warnings, roads closed, detours, and NOTHING stopped the soaking wet and screaming crowds from packing into The Big Easy and Millys this weekend. And nothing stopped Averi from rocking the soggy roofs off their rafters just to give a big F YOU!! to the rain gods. There were even two girls who skipped out on their Senior Prom and drove hours just to see us at Millys. That is dedication my friends! And besides, it was a crappy night to be in a prom dress anyway. Seriously who wants to sit in a damp prom dress, eat some half ass dried up chicken and be forced to listen to Wonderful Tonight for the 8,000th time. Screw that!! Nice choice girls!

We also had a few other people out this weekend that you may see a lot more at shows coming up. I would like you all to join us in welcoming Ray and Aaron to the Averi family. Ray and Aaron are good friends of ours, great guys and our new videographers. You can see their work on our website and our myspace in the video section which now includes "The Matty Cam" We will also be doing a series of On The Road with Averi and In The Studio shorts films that are guaranteed to both entertain and offendAveri style so enjoy.

Lastly speaking of On The Road With Averi here is a picture of On The Road with Sleepy Stuey Tornado We made fun of his headphones for so long that he actually fell asleep during the ridicule. We like to call this picture Asleep In The Control Tower If I could photoshop planes crashing into each other in the background it would be funnier but for now just use your imagination.

PS He has no idea we took this picture so his response to this should be priceless. and drum roll...BIG News to announce REALLY SOONbest -Averi

It feels so good to be on the road. There is always a wonderful sense of security in what you are familiar with but the uncertainty of the unknown is refreshing and exciting and we are eating it up right now! We had a great time on the road in Pennsylvania and NY this week and everyone was amazing. There were Averi supporters showing up from all over with Averi shirts and tons of love. So thank you to all who came out to visit us, support us and make us feel right at home. We will do it again real soon. Promise.

We also got a good chance to get out and see some vast landscapes. I am not sure how many of you are into wine but there is a stretch of road from NY to Pennsylvania that is lined for hundreds of miles with vineyards. It is really impressive. I took this picture of some of the vines just starting to bloom for the season. Being that in touch with nature can really put you in touch with yourself or in our case... just relax you so much that you feel like you have to CRAP!! So the vine watching experience was short lived before it was on to the next rest station.

And speaking of which, rest stations actually start to become exciting on the road. After being in a vehicle for hours you actually start to look forward to stretching out and grabbing a Cinibon or burrito or something else that is going to make you inevitably have to stop again in like 20 mins. Plus the place is crawling with weirdoes. It always looks like the Creature Cantina from Star Wars. There is everyone gathering in these places from every walk of life. I really think someone could sit at a rest area and talk to people coming through about their travels and their life stories and have a pretty interesting book on their hands...or at least a book that helps you CRAP!!I dont know.

More from the road soon but for the next few weeks we are LOCAL!!! or LOCOwhich is it?both I guess, but very LOCAL so check the shows section and come on out to see us. We cant wait to see everyone and be playing back around home with some new tunes to boot! In a bit.
