For those of you in Toronto over Thanksgiving weekend, I'll be performing a special solo set on Sunday October 11th for the Wavelength Music Series. Wavelength's location has changed as of last week, now located at The Garrison (1197 Dundas Street West). My 45 minute set begins at 10pm sharp. This will be my only show in Toronto until I release the new album next summer. See you soon Toronto!

Fall is here and I'm still in Newfoundland. I am happy to share with everyone that I have chosen to make St. John's my new home. There's several reasons why I have decided to stay but the biggest one is that I just LOVE it here. I find it both inspiring, grounding and good for the soul.

Since I haven't shared much of my new music to you, I thought I would share a new song that I am working on, "Pilgrim." It's still in the very rough stages but I thought I would share it with you nonetheless. Thank you to composer/performer/poet Terri Hron who inspired me to write this song with her touching poem, "Pilgrim."

I've been subletting an apartment in downtown St. John's, Newfoundland for just over a month now. I'm having a fantastic time and must say, I am in love with Newfoundland. Been writing new songs, getting ready for recording and enjoying all that summer has to offer. From whale watching to cooking lobster to picking strawberries, it's been wonderful and has been exactly what I needed.

I'm taking a bit of a break from the touring lifestyle. I got myself pretty exhausted during the last tour. It's time to live a more normal life for a bit so that I can get really focused on recording the new album. Nothing like having my own kitchen, bathroom and bedroom! Anyone who has been on the road for a long time understands what I mean.  : )

I'll be performing a few shows in St. John's over the summer and a few on the mainland in the fall. Check my shows page of my website for dates (more will be announced very soon).

Have a fantastic summer everyone!

This is the second short film I have ever made, called, "Macaulay Muse." Not sure if I should be sharing it with y'all or not but hey, it's fun to check out the beginning stages of trying out something new.

I filmed this on 8mm and then Scott Amos hand processed it is his basement and transferred it. I set the music to it, while on the road in Montreal using my omnichord, frog, glockenspiel and shaker. It's footage I took in the Macaulay House (Dawson City, Yukon) in April 2009, no editing, just straight footage of the cool things in and outside the house. Lots say the house is haunted. I'd have to agree. The first Mayor of Dawson City used to live there. It was a very inspiring place for me to create and I am amazed at how many compositions I wrote during my time there. It probably goes down as being my most productive residency so far.

While in St. John's this summer, I plan to be a sponge at the film co-op here called NIFCO. Should be a fun and productive summer!

I've just posted a live recording of "Primordial Soup," recorded at the Apollo in Thunder Bay by one of my favourite sound engineers in Canada, Alex Pederson. I wrote this song to go with a short film by Scott Amos while I was in Dawson City, Yukon last month.

And for those of you in Northern Ontario, I will be on the radio twice on Tuesday May 19th:

8am - CFNO (in Marathon) - live performance and interview

4:40pm - Sudbury's CBC Radio with Dan Lessard - live interview with tracks played off of Edgework

Pat Carrabre of The Signal will be playing one of my songs on CBC Radio Two this Sunday. Tune in on Sunday May 10th, between 10pm and 11pm to catch it.

CBC, you're awesome.

Well the sound quality ain't great on this but Scott Amos's short film, "Primordial Soup" is certainly intoxicating. This is a performance Scott and I did at the Dawson City International Short Film Festival. I had just written the song and this was the first performance of it.

This is a video clip of the Grade 2 class from Dawson City's Robert Service School, dancing to me performing "Tongue n Groove" in their classroom. Had to share it with ya as it puts a smile on my face each and every time I watch it. They asked me to play this song three times and each time, they had a blast dancing. What a fun bunch of kids! : )
