OMD's review see the full review of the all the bands from this gig at http://www.fungalpunknature.co.uk/FUNGALPUNK/REviews/6Feb09Thatched.html

Finally to Billy Club. A shit band made up of 4 shitheads who all
contribute to an overflow of shit songs. They have always been shit and
always will be - total, utter, shitty, shitty shit, shite! Now for the
truth! Well what can I say that I haven't said before? One of the best
bands on the circuit who always give 110% and never fail to convince.
The songs all batter and bruise and retain a deep rooted melody that
doesn't get lost in the final mayhem. Precision punk is how I see it
with all participants fully focussed and always on top form. You never
see them out of step and every show is exciting and filled with top
notch tuneage. Surprise, surprise - tonight was no exception. All the
songs were a blast and for once I won't pick a favourite because there
really is no need. Quality entertainment capped withy a UK Subs cover
thrown in for extra titillation that pleased the crowd and gave Brian
Barnes the chance for a brief slice of exhibitionism. A crackin' finish
to a crackin' night and heading home I was more than happy to have made
the initial effort.

Billyclub formed in the frozen Tundra that is Kenosha Wi march 95. the lads started gigging and built up a following, they met Erv from Idol records at one of Terry Bones Sunday afternoon piss ups in the Chicago burbs (very nice thank you) the 1st release was a 7” single with Self Help and a cover of 999’s “Homicide” it was well received and got reviewed by none other than the Billboard magazine. The debut album "it’s better to be Pissed Off", was the next release (96) after the 1st successful US tour we all relocated to Dallas. Billyclub released another 7" “I Saw God” on Sour Records, we started writing songs for the next CD however things were not working out within the band and we parted company with Kurt, Dave Woodard (ex REO Speeddealer) stepped in and we resumed writing and recording, the CD was titled “out to Lunch and that came out in june/july 98 we then started to tour the US the band had another line up change and Terry Bones (Discharge, UK Subs, Broken Bones ETC!) joined us ..we did a small tour and Cold front records came to see us liked what they saw and that resulted in the Serve Loud ep, we toured the US (west coast, mid west) again, in 1999 we finally got on a good tour…thanks to Colin Abrahall we did the whole GBH USA tour during winter 99 and what a laugh that was, most nights Tezz got on stage with GBH to do the Discharge song "Realities Of War" and Ross got on stage with us to play “Surf” this tour resulted in the “Punk as Fuck “(Idol) EP and the “Punkrockambulance” EP (Casey Orr (Gwar, Rigor Mortis, Ministry) played bass on this ep. Kurt also did backing vocals.) After the long rest from Tour Fatigue Tezz Buggered off to Kansas with his new love and Kurt expressed his interest in reforming  the original line up and basically finish what we started, so we thought that would be a good idea so we had to part co with Dave (no fault of Dave's cos he is an awsome front man!), so with Kevin and Kurt back we did a small east coast tour ending in New York.
We drove back home to Dallas and straight into a head on collision with personal problems for Kurt, this story unfolds in the FUVM ep, check out the songs Big F, Die Already and FUVM! This was released on Hello (2000) this was to be the last thing we did with the original line up, finally calling it a day in 2001 however we have played reunion shows when Karl goes back to Dallas.
2002 Karl moved back to the UK and put together a new line up with his brother Mok and with Andy n John the line was complete.
Billyclub played the 1st concrete Jungle festival and Keith from Cultjam Records watched the gig and as soon as we came off stage he came over and asked us to join the label, we already had the album recorded so we did the artwork (thanks Jizz) and Cultjam released the “No Justice” cd oct 2007..check the blogs for the reviews.
Karl's 1st band was Xtract which formed in 79, John joined Xtract when the band reformed in 85 , Karl has also Played in the Exploited, Broken Bones, UK Subs, The Phantom Rockers and most recently has been playing with GBH. you can find Video of his time in GBH on you tube! Billyclub

 (A brief history)

Billyclub formed in Kenosha, WI, early 1995.

The band has released 2 full length CD's, 4, EP CD's and 2, 7" singles.

Billyclub has toured extensively in the USA; the last tour was with British punk Legends GBH and lasted over 2 months.

The band split after the release of the FUVM cd

After moving back to the UK Nov 2002 original and founding member Karl decided to put together a new line up with his brother Mok. They recruited Andy Dawson on Drums and John Kitson on bass

Karl has been a member of punk legends  the Exploited (CD's horror epics and live at the white house),the UK Subs (CD Sub mission), he also played for Broken Bones (FOAD)  Psychobilly band the Phantom Rockers  (CD Rise up & PSM) and most recently played with GBH for over 16 months while original guitarist Jock was living in the USA.

The band have just signed a deal with Cultjam records who released their UK debut titled "No Justice"  September 11th  2007.

Mok was part of the production team Bushaq who produced Tairrie B's "My Ruin" 1st album 'Speak and Destroy', He. Played on the single "Tainted Love" this record got rave reviews in Kerrang! And the track Bushaq wrote got the pick from the release!

John Played in Xtract appearing on the 86 comp release Av a Rotten Xmas, on Rott records,

BILLYCLUB - No Justice CD (CultJam Media)
Inside the cover of the much over used Taxi Driver image is 14 songs from 4 rather old looking UK punks. They sound pretty much as I thought they would. Fast UK82 stuff mixed with metal, and all played with metal guitars, flat metal drums and metal vocals.

Vocalist MOK sounds more American than English. They've got fairly good angry lyrics that are mainly directed to nameless people around them I suppose; ''fuckin' hate you'', ''never wanna be like you'' and ''I'm sick of people telling me''.

If you're the kind of punk who wishes EXPLOITED sounded even more metal this will probably do. Comes with a 8-page colour photo/lyric booklet.

BILLYCLUB - NO JUSTICE

For me Billyclub are one of the most underrated, overlooked outfits on the scene who seem destined not to fulfil their potential through no fault of their own. Hopefully this stunning debut album will rectify the failings of the punk community and assist them in taking note of a mighty force worthy of recognition. Each and every time I witness Billyclub I am left shellshocked and suitably impressed yet the respect by the masses seems hard to attract. Support slots are hard to come by as he so-called bigger bands shy away from the threat Billyclub pose. This 14 track classic is tribute to the bands talent and one of the highs of 2007.

'Pushing' is a concrete opener and crushes any theory that this CD will be anything other than a vociferous onslaught of rumbustious riot. 'Smash It Up' is a fuckin' sweat spraying, stress-busting relief of the highest order and wonderfully incites unabandoned wrecklessness and raging aggression. 'Hollow' thumps out a sickening body blow in glorious fashion and is a mean mother fuckin' tirade against lifes unavoidable sensations of dread.

'Changing Times' is a full-on blast and the best of the lot. Keeping it very real and an obstreperous outcry against today's punk fakes I adore this crazed explosion with its follow on track 'Fuckin' Hate You' seeming to add a perfectly positioned full stop to both bomb blasts.

The incessant barrage continues and the startling consistency, high class production and determined deliverance is truly awesome. 'Not Alone' has a bounce and trounce feel to it with the superb guitar textures once and for all highlighting the vocal brilliance of frontman Mok and the passion and exertive inflections he reaches with 100% perspiration.

'Liar' briefly offers a glimpse of a more laboured affair but no such mode is encountered as the track hammers along with strident focus.

The album closes with anti-nerd anthem 'Surf', the brutally unruly 'F.U.V.M' - 'Fuck You Very Much' and the top class finale of 'One Way' leaving the listener breathless and inspired.

You want punk - you got it! You want a riot - You got it! You want to hear 4 musicians perfectly gelling together to produce one hell of a cock sure, mans-man album of unhinged aggression - you fuckin' got it!

Like it or not this is one of the best and punks should take note - Billyclub are the real deal and are here to upset the complacent. If you are planning on checking this lot out then prepare to have your arse kicked and your ears roasted, and have a fuck you very much aimed your way. Absolute class!

This new offering by billyclub is a real find. Not that i expected any different as i am regular at billyclub gigs, and this is the best to date.14 tracks of blistering punk at its best a little in the vein of gbh and the exploited, and of course why not.If you are into the metallic punk scene of years gone by you will know karl is ex exploited and had a stint with gbh , so you can feel that influence in billyclub . crisp hard vocals, but clean cut and understandable and melodic at times, not over produced and not too polished. Karl gives off a mature sound on guitar, full of catchy riffs and lead breaks just in case you get bored, his work is interesting to say the least. The drums kick ass fast and punchy and clear no muffled sounds here, and all are backed up with some fine bass work, again catchy and clear. The cd is a punk classic in the making but i did get lost half way thru in a haze of past punk glory so its a thumbs from me and see you down the front if you dare mix it with the big boys.

BILLYCLUB – No Justice (CultJam) – A classic cut-to-the-chase street punk band with quite a bit of underground history – the current line up are apparently holed up back on home turf in the North West of England, Bolton to be exact. You may know the name from their activities over in the US back in the 90's or a split album with GBH - then again, you may not. Whatever the case, what you need to know right now is that they've weighed in with a more than decent set of classic, well played, straight to the point, loud fast street punk rock 'n roll tracks and a rather good album. Old school middle aged punks who should know better by now – nice to see they don't. Fine old shouty swearathon loud-mouth white trash punk rock - well recorded, well produced, nice and raw without being too messy – just right. One for those with a taste for things like GBH, Discharge, Exploited, Broken Bones or UK Subs along with a healthy edge of Motorhead, The Ramones, Fang and oh you know the names – gooooooooooood stuff. www.cultjamrecords.com or www.myspace.com/billyclub95
