Sorry this took so long guys it's been busy here.

Well I can say this was probably the best convention I've been to and without a doubt the biggest. The local CBC Canadian news station claimed they drew 50,000 people. Unlike most cons I've attended this was held in a massive convention center and not a hotel they even had a food court.

If you haven't been Toronto is a very large city rife with culture and diversity. Comparable to New York only cheaper. Before the convention we head up early and stayed at Niagara Falls on the U.S. side and did the Maid In The Mist (definitely a must do at least once in your life). Beautiful area and actually on the day the convention ended we explored the Canadian side of the Falls and there is actually much more to do there. They had like a dozen Haunted House style attractions right on the street including the infamous Nightmares Fear Factory. Great spots for kids and adults were definitely going back sometime next year just to see all those things.

Onto the convention day one. Actually most won;t be in order. We had several cool celebrity encounters beyond the shaking of hands saying hello and getting an autograph. At one point my Mom got into this just plain surreal conversation with Ruggero Deodato......now any of my fellow horror lovers will know that name but for those of you that don't he's arguably one of the most controversial directors of all time and made the infamous Cannibal Holocaust. My mom was having this cutesy conversation with him about Italy and each others families. And he asked my Mom if she's seen any of his films and she said no and he jokingly in a heavy accent said "you simply must" and then my mom said "well they're not to bloody are they"? LOL.

Anyways it was funny and while this was going on another couple guys behind us with the lady who takes the money were complaining about the price of these series of original poster prints from Cannibal Holocaust. They were charging two hundred dollars. Well they called it a rip off and I guess Deodato overheard and said he'd one to this nice Italian lady for fifty bucks......So I got a very rare one of a kind and according to them first run item from when the film was first released.

Another encounter also involving my Mom with Edward James Olmos happened in the table gaming area where I guess she kind of dozed off and Olmos was just coming in getting ready to head to his table and he jokingly tapped her on the shoulder and when she looked up he said "having a rough day"? Once it finally registered with her she laughed and said "Yes and it's all your fault because we had to drive eight hours to meet you". Were all big BattleStar fans so even she knew who he was and what a nice guy. Not a typical name you see at conventions but very humble and friendly.

And Rebecca again I did get you something special Lord Of The Rings related and yes Sean Astin was cool. One of the best things I got out of the trip or more specifically that I added to was my Texas Chainsaw Massacre poster I got Tobe Hooper to sign. I know have Tobe, Gunnar Hansen, Teri Mcminn, Marilyn Burns, William Vail, Allen Danziger, John Dugan, and Edwin Neal's autographs on that one.

Brad Dourif was another Idol I got to meet. He's got a very funny dark sense of humor. The drop dead gorgeous Suicide Girls were also there and Damn.............Lets just say my pants were feeling tight all weekend LOL. One of the coolest sites being in a such a big city was the swarm of people in costumes walking the streets of Toronto some the anime chicks were more than half naked....not that I'm complaining. Never got into that genre myself but the fanbase is as hardcore and loyal as my fellow horror fanatics and even the Trekkie crowd.

Lots of interesting people and artists had booths. I picked up advanced copies of Gregory Lamberson's (the popular cult director of Slime city) new book Johnny Gruesome which he was telling me is now a short film starring Misty Mundae and I believe an online comic and a cd inspired soundtrack. Originally Johnny Gruesome was suppose to be a feature length film before Slime City twenty three years ago. He's currently trying to raise the money to do the feature length film and certainly it's an interesting story having an online comic, Soundtrack, short film, etc. before the actual film has been made. Gregory's wife is on my myspace under the name Slime gal which is where you can find more info about the project and everything he's up to.

In addition horror author Gary Frank was signing and giving out advanced copies of his new novel Institutional Memory which looks to be a great read set in the cold corporate world.....you may have seen this in a recent Fangoria advertised. Another one and I'm generally not into graphic novels but I picked up Soul Stealer from Actor/writer Michael Easton and I have to say the illustrations are absolutely stunning and unlike anything I've seen before. Well worth picking up and Whitney you'd love this one. Wish you were there for that. (Easton starred in the short lived Total Recall tv series).

Naturally I picked up a ton of dvds'. The long awaited Home Sick, Gimme Skelter, and the 6 Films To Keep You Awake set from Spain which is there own After Dark Film Fest basically. Even got a rare legit copy of the controversial Porno Holocaust......yeah I know I'm weird LOL. And finally picked up the excellent and often overlooked Dan Curtis' Dracula starring Jack Palance.......and much much more.

The Masquerade is always a blast and this was the wildest I've seen. Most of all it's always a pleasure to be around my kind of people who share my passion. Really that beats the celeb watching portion or anything else.

So it was an amaing trip and I may update this with a part two because there was so much there.
