Scooter was a little stray that wandered to my home.So I'd feed him with the rest of the strays I had and kind of tamed him so I could pick him up ect.After a few months he had made himself comfortable at my home in my front yard and one day he came up missing.So we looked and looked for him for three days and on the third day someone saw what they thought was the hind end of a cat sticking out from under a trailer home across the street from where I live where they sell trailers to be moved.So my mother got a flashlight to go check it out and saw a cats black tail sticking out from the insulation under the bottom/floor of the trailer so she ran and got me.After crawling under the trailer with a flashlight I discovered to my horror that Scooter had gotten his little right leg caught in the netting that holds the insulation under the floor and some wire also.His leg was badly broken and poor little thing he had to be caught there for at least 2 to 3 days.I have never seen a cat so happy to see me in my whole life he was purring the whole time I was trying to free him.I got a pair of scissors and carefully cut him out and wrapped him in a blanket and rushed him to the vet.The vet had to amputate his little leg because it was so badly broken.So we adopted Scooter and put him in the house.He recovered very quickly and is like a normal cat in every way even though he only has 3 legs now.He even runs and plays like the rest of the cats in the house.I have to admire Scooters will to live and the fact that it doesn't seem to bother him at all that his leg was taken off.So I think that makes Scooter the best 3 legged cat in the whole world ;)Scooter lives with me now and is very happy,healthy and FAT!He "helps" me with everything I do and never leaves my side.

October 18, 2007 Scooter Passed Away.
I have been putting off posting this because it's soooooo hard for me to talk about.
On Thursday, October 18, 2007 Scooter passed away from lymphoma aka Cancer that we did know he had till it was too late.As some of you know originally the vet thought he might have just had a urinary obstruction,because he was having some difficulty and cry when he'd use the litter box.We tried treating him for that and he still had problems and I noticed he started to get a lump in his belly area.We took him back to the vet and the vet x-rayed him and checked him out really well and found out a mass in his belly.But he'd said he'd have to do surgery to be 100% sure to see if he had it.
Needless to say I was totally devastated,the vet who has been the family vet for all our pets for years told me he'd do his best,and if he opened him up and saw there was a way to remove the cancer,he'd spend all day trying to remove it.
We brought him in a few days later and the vet opened him up and called us to tell us that it would be for the best if he just put him to sleep while he was already out because the cancer was everywhere.He said that at the most if he sent him home he would have 2 weeks to live,and it would be very painful for him.The vet had a pet boxer that had the same thing so I knew he knew what he was talking about and I have always trusted him completely.
So on October 18, 2007 Scooter passed away to kitty heaven.
His passing was devastating and crushing to me,he was like a child to me.I'm the one that rescued him and nursed him back to health.He was always with me and was apart of me.
I got a nice headstone for him and also plan on getting a memorial tattoo for him,I also plan on keeping his site and myspace up as a memorial to him because he was such a wonderful and well loved cat and not just adored by me.
I also adopted 2 new kitties to keep myself and the other kitties company.One is Scooter's half brother Mr Grumpy the other is named Manxy.
Manxy was adopted from some friends of mine named Gary and Delores who rehab rescued animals.
Manxy along with his two brothers when they were kittens,were left to die in a dumpster at a local grocery store.Manxy also happends to be a Manx cat so he was born without a tail.
I still think about Scooter everyday,and I have my bad days where I really miss him.But hopefully I can provide as good of a home to the new kitties as I did for Scooter.The new kitties are really a blessing to me and keep me from getting to overcome with grief when thinking about Scooter not being here anymore.

Thursday at 8am central time I'm going to bring Scooter in to the vet so they can open him up and see if it's cancer or just a growth or whatnot.
If he's bad off there is a chance he doesn't make it out of the surgery.Which I'm hoping isn't even a possibility because he doesn't seem to be bad off.He's still getting around and eating normally,I have put him on a raw food diet and am giving him that Noni Juice stuff,he ate a piece of steak almost the size of the palm of my hand and he's drinking normally.He's not a old cat maybe like 5 years old and he's always been in good health so hopefully I won't have to worry about complications during the surgery to figure out what is going on.
I'm so hoping it's just a begin growth or that even if it is Cancer it can be removed and he can survive it.
I never plan on having kids so he's like a baby to me and is one of the very few things that brings joy to my life.
Please please please everybody send healing vibes his way.

I took Scooter to the vet today to see why he was still crying when he went to the litter box and they x-rayed him and found he has a growth about the size of say a tennis ball in his belly it's near his spleen.The vet said it could be Lymphoma a type of cancer but there is a tiny tiny chance it could be a benign growth of some kind.We won't know for sure what it is till they open him up.
Naturally I'm so upset I can't even put into words how worried I am.
They could have opened him up today but my vet was having a bad day too so I didn't want to make him have to do surgery.
When I brought Scooter in he started checking him out by feeling him and told me he had a mass in his belly and that it could be Lymphoma,I started crying in the exam room *I had to take him to the vet by myself because my mother took my Aunt to the doc* and I told him I was sorry I was being a big baby about it,he told me it was ok that his son fell off a bike today and they had to put him in a cast from about under his breast to his foot,so he was having to run in the back every so often and cry too.Because of that I didn't want to have to make him to deal with the stress of opening my cat up,especially since I think he realizes how attached I am to Scooter so I think it makes him extra nervous.

http://www.sparkyfightsback.com/ and when and bought some Noni Juice stuff in case it is Lymphoma.I was looking around online to see if there are any local vet's that can do things like Oncology on cats,I think there is one in Baton Rouge which is like 2 hours from me.If it is a bad growth *which I hope to hell it's NOT* I don't care if I have to max out a credit card I'm going to try my damndest to help him.
Thankfully he's doesn't seem to be in pain at all,and is eating and getting around and things like that.
So please everybody keep him in your thoughts,prayers and rituals that he will be just fine,I'm appreciate it more then you know.I just want my cat to be OK,he's like my baby.

Scooter has been having probs with having crystals in his bladder and urethra,and I have been bring him back and forth to the vet trying to get it sorted out.
He was crying when he'd use the litter box so I assumed it was constipation but the vet figured out it was urinary probs.He's still trying to pass all the crystals in his system and is not having a fun time doing it.
So everybody please send him healing thoughts.

Meet Adam

No, that's not a silly sweater he's wearing, they are bandages. Adam is a three month old kitten that was locked in a cage and set on fire by two teenage girls in Santa Rosa. He lost his ears, his tail and over 40% of his skin.

California has some of the most lenient animal abuse laws in the country. The absolute maximum punishment for an animal cruelty case like this is 3 years in prison and a $20,000 fine, if the offenders are charged with a felony. In most cases the charges will be plead down to a misdemeanor, and the offenders will spend less than 2 years in jail. In contrast, in Oklahoma and Louisiana the maximum sentence is 10 years and $5,000-$25,000 in fines.

What can you do about it? You can sign the petition and help put in motion laws that will double the maximum sentence time for animal abuse cases. Six years may not seem like much, but it's a lot better than three.
