Just a quick update for anyone reading my blog, we are home from our 10-day tour in the UK and I'm already itching to get back!!  Vinea, located on Albert Dock in Liverpool, is a very charming spot with GREAT wines and delicious food.  Parr Street Studios, alos in Liverpool, is a night-life hotspot with a cool vibe and the latest up-and-coming musicians. Thank you SOOO much to Emily and Ryan for showing us around a giving us a place to crash!!  We LOVE you two!!
Aside from the sight-seeing, there was more music to play in south London.  We made our way to Tottenham Court and played 12Bar, a stage which has seen the likes of Cold Play and Oh Susanna. thanks to Vince and Mark for your organisational skills and sound enginerring.   Last, but certainly not least, was the amazingly cozy but hip Monkey Chews in Camden. Thanks to Joel Armsden for giving us great sound, and to the chap who kept putting logs on the fire, mmmm, heat!!!
I hope to have some live footage up on YouTube soon so you can all enjoy these places without having to fly across the pond.
To all of our new friends, Adrian (thank you for the fab pics), Kaya (who ROCKS the house at Parr St. with her killer voice), Dave O'Grady (you CAN crash at our flat when you come), Derrek and Suzie in Monmouth (thanks for buying the cds), and anyone else I may have missed, thank you for your attention and appreciation.

I had the GREAT pleasure of sharing the stage with Barney Bentall this past weekend at the Hamilton Downtown Arts Centre.

My first "soft-seater" was nothing short of FABULOUS!!! And the talent and kind heartedness of Barney will last in my memory forever.

He invited Frank and I up to perform Norwegian Wood as one of his encore songs.

Pictures to come soon!

New York City, for anyone who's never been, it INCREDIBLE!  Frank and I drove down on Friday, Feb. 22nd because our flight was cancelled due to snow. So after mapping out our route via Mapquest (which by the way had some mistakes!!), and driving through the mountains during a snowstorm :-0, and getting lost in New Jersey, we made it to our first gig at Vox Pop in Brooklyn.  We played to a very appreciative audience, made some new friends, met up with Cris Tanzi and Alex from London, England who had flown all the way to play as well,

On the Saturday we walked from Upper West Side Central Park down to Times Square, and then took a taxi to Banjo Jim's in the East Village to play at an open stage. There we also played to a very attentive audience, and made some great new friends from the area and as far as Seattle.

Saturday night we played at Stain in Brooklyn, and again met some fabulous talent from Nebraska. Check out the new pictures I've posted, and look up these fabulous people in my friends area.

Overall, the people in New York are friendly, funny, helpful, and VERY entertaining!!  Good food, good prices, subways are very fast and clean. The city left me smiling, and I can't wait to go back!!

I want to let people know that all the shows I have booked will be playing my own songs from my first, second, and upcoming third album.

With the exception of my open mic when it's a quiet night, and I need to play most of the night, I will throw in some of my favourite cover tunes like Sheryl Crowe or Buddy Miller.

I decided that 2008 will be all about promoting myself, not some other band :-)

cheers

2007 was a great year!!! I travelled through Europe with my family, played music there, and met MORE family members for the first time. We made a lot of new friends, and got to visit some very special people that were in Canada in 2006 and 2007.

I released my second cd, which I am very proud of, and which has been recieving a lot of attention.

I've played some FABULOUS shows. NXNE and Festival of Friends, to name a couple, AND had three Hamilton Music Award nominations!!!

The folks at the Spec have been very kind to me, and so have the CFMU personalities.

Basically, what I've learned is that there are a lot of awesome, caring and helpful people that are truly dedicated to music and spreading the word, and I want to say "thanks" to all of them.

best to everyone for 2008!!

I just had a quick note to anyone who is wondering why I don't have a billion friends on MySpace.  It's because I only make or accept friends that I know to some degree.

Anyone can have five thousand friends. Unless you're a superstar, to me it looks like you have too much time on your hands. I'm more interested in being friends with someone I've actually met or will meet in the near future. It seems more realistic to me.

Don't let that discourage you from being my friend is you live on the other side of the planet. I still like to be friends with talented artists whose music affects me.

Having said that, I'd like to wish everyone a peaceful holiday season, and a prosperous new year.

cheers,Kim

Cheers to a very successful and exciting weekend here in the Hammer. Lots of great music, and to all the volunteers and organizers, a big thank you!!

I personally got to meet some real true folks, and made new friends, AND played my ass off at the Corktown. Thanks to the band, Craig and Colin Lapsley, Jake Payne and of course my wonderful and loving and supportive husband Frank Koren.

I am thouroughly exhausted from the parties, but I still have a smile on my face:-)

I went for a relaxing reflexology massage today, and all my knots are gone. AHHH!!!!

looking forward to my next shows at the Casbah with Christopher Clause Dec. 8th, and Dec. 17th with Jacob Moon.

cheers everyone!

WOW!!! Three nominations for Sun Went Down. I am very pleased!!! This will be my 5th year performing as part of the HMA festival. Last year I was thrilled to share the stage with Famous Framus, Tim Gibbons, and Kelly Jay.  This year I will be performing at the Corktown Tavern.

Also nominated in the same catagories are Michelle Titian and Lori Yates. Talk about tough competition!! I wish everyone the best of luck, and I am just happy to be nominated. I hope I get to meet Dan Lanois this year :-)  he he!

cheers everyone
