I am heading to the Golden Tri (GTR represent!) today and seeing friends and family there. Should be fun. In the mean time why don't you stare at this animated Gif for a while

The mid-nineties brought us many wonders. Big ass fade haircuts. Republican congressional takeovers (already forgot that one). Super tasty malt beverages that taste like Sprite. The time period also perfected a type of rap called the dis song. This kind of rap springs from yo mama jokes and playing the dozens. Basically you rap about how bad your opponent, real or imagined, sucks real bad. The ultimate battle has to be the one between Biggie Smalls and TuPac Shakur, two former friends who ultimately personified the East Coast - West Coast beef. In this video overdubbed with the uncut lyrics, Tupac steps over all kinds of lines proclaiming that he had sex with Biggie's wife, Lil Kim. Tupacs claims may or may not be true, but certainly this is the dis that sealed Tupac's fate. Enjoy. (umm this is NWS because of lyrics)

Sounds good doesn't it? I think having a female speaker of the house is the bar none best thing that has happened to this country since I have been here. Good work citizens!
In other news: The House and the Motherfucking Senate! Big ups to my people in Virginia for keeping the Macaca-man out of office!
I know alot of you were wary and upset by my last post. I do not blame you. There was a part of me that really believed that nightmare scenario could happen. Today is not part of that nightmare. Today is a day of rejoicing. The Congress of the United States of America is no longer a rubber stamp to insane demagogues and their Masters In The Sky.
There is hope. There is a future that is not filled with oil-stained bloody corpses being ground up to fuel our insatiable urges. That future begins now.
The best thing you can do to further your happiness and enjoyment of this day is to reach out to a strong Republican that you know and say "It's not your fault, they fooled me too." Remember : Republicans != Neocons!
You should read more rejoicing by people who write better than me:

Love to my peeps in other states for making this possible. Love to Keith Olbermann for saying what I thought.

I know what I say does not matter. My closest friends tell me so. I am not a citizen of the United States and as such, my voice is empty. I live in the U.S. as a Resident Alien (nice term) with full tax paying rights and little else. With that full disclosure let me tell you what I think Tuesday will bring. I think that the Republicans (The party that I have recently switched to) will retain control of both houses. I think the voting will be perceived as close but fair. The Republicans will point to their magical "Get Out The Vote" machine and all will be well. No one with a real voice will say that this midterm election was rigged from the start. And that is exactly how I want it. As far as I can see the United States is not well served by a two party system. A one party system is much more efficient. That is why I am now a Republican. Who cares about public debate about issues? A better question by far is "Do you think the average American is mentally equipped to think about the issues?" The answer lies in your own emotional reaction as you read that question. The answer is no. I, for one, welcome our new Republican overlords! If Republicans retain the congress we should repeal the 22nd amendment as the first order of business. The only Executive office in the land saddled with term limits is the presidency. Please tell your new Republican Congress to pass a bill amending the Constitution post haste!

Current mood: working
Somehow I got tricked into working this afternoon. I am actively avoiding the patrons that I hate, forcing them to be waited on by other, more slow-witted staffers. I stare at loud little children, willing them to shut up, hoping that their little lungs will collapse, or vocal cords become strained so that I cannot hear their demands for Thomas the Tank Engine dvds.
Foreign men approach me, emitting spicy scents blended with musky aftershave. They want to renew some videos. Their last names have thirty letters and ten syllables. I ask them to respell and respell. I think there is a drink in the grove that is missing me right now.

Swedish Party went off and it was pretty fun. Good turn out of Swedes, Semi-Swedes, and Swede Wannabees. Snaps was consumed as drinking songs were sung.
Ethnic tally:3 Swedes 2 Norwegians 1 Argentine 20 Americans The expatriates shared tips on procuring delicacies from the homeland. A bottle of tasty Vodka was donated to the cause by Mrs. Fitts. The festivities were peaceful and the event will be recurring. See you at the next one.

I just got back from my 10 year high school reunion. The MSMS class of 1996 gathered in Columbus to talk about eating at Hogarth, running to Hooper in the rain, in-dorm, and who married who. It was fun times. I had not sent any messages to the organizers for the "Where are they now" Powerpoint presentation, but I was happy to see that my MySpace picture (The current one) had been poached and used in the show. It was hard to explain to people that I hadn't seen in ten years why I was making out with Michael Myers. A few beers later and all was forgotten. Laughs were had, old grudges against teachers and faculty were revisited, and in the end everyone was thankful that high school is over forever. I would do it again, and I wish that more people were there. The event was competing against two weddings of graduates that weekend, which definitely affected attendance. My final take: If you have even the slightest chance to go your high school reunion, do it. Just say "Fuck it, I'm going!" and go, you will be amazed. Don't get psyched out by all the hollywood propaganda about what high school reunions are like. Yes, alot of douches went to your high school, guess what? You are one of those douches to someone else. Let it go, it was ten years ago. Go and see the closest thing to a time machine you will ever see.

One sentence review: Box seats, great acoustics, an interesting opening band, and Wilco was great.
They were tight like always and they tend to play so well and in such a consistent manner you forget the sounds they make are live. Can a band play too well? Maybe, but it didn't happen at the Ford Center on Tuesday.
Chinks in the well-travelled Wilco armor appeared mid-set, as the bass guitar decided to quit working, which made "War on War" sound off. John Stirrat, the bassist (last of the Uncle Tupelo lineup along with Tweedy) ran around for a while plugging and unplugging things frantically as the band kept playing waiting for the bassline. Finally a sound engineer ran out with a different bass and the show went on. The band was a little rattled after that and struggled to regain the momentum they started with. In the end I prefer the show in Meridian. It was louder and wilder.
Sitting in a box seat was a new deal for me; nice but also disconcerting. Do not misunderestimate me, the sightlines and acoustics were great, but I really felt exposed. Sic Semper Tyrannis and all that. I would do it again in a heartbeat though, for any future event. Perhaps it is something to which one must become accustomed, like herring. I have to add a thought that has been nagging me about the Ford Center. It is a great and fancy venue with lux seats, fantastic acoustics, polished wood and brass junk all over the place. These features combine to make you feel like this is a place to be nice and quiet and respectful. All these wonderful things make it totally the wrong setting for an Electrically Amplified Rock Show. A certain seediness is required to add the correct air. Maybe a seedy enough band could overcome the assigned, padded seats and the carpeted foyer, but Wilco was not nasty enough to do it Tuesday night and I doubt they ever will be.

I am moving the Swedish party from this weekend to another one. The end result will be worth it.

I don't feel so great today. I seem to have caught some kind of affliction from the aether. Or it could be that someone brought disease with them from the ER. From snot nosed brats.
