So we need YOUR help - 1. by YOU voting and by 2. getting the message out to your networks and getting them to vote! Voting is only open for two weeks and CLOSE 7th November, so we have to act quick! To vote you need to 1. join2. Log in3. Go to the competition page4. vote for your top three (hopefully, including us!!!). Hope this all makes sense. 5 Hints to Recognise a Mate Is Down:
* They might be acting anxious, angry, sad, moody or just plain shithouse (and we're not talking shithouse like that'd missed the wave of the day, but seriously crap!!);
* They might not be interested in things they normally enjoy (i.e. if they never want to come surfing anymore.);
* They might have a general lack of energy or motivation (e.g. They no longer show any interest or motivation in hitting on the local hotties or even going to a movie with mates.)
* They might also be down if you notice changes in their sleeping or eating patterns (if ya mate says he's never getting any kip it might be a good idea to ask if there's something bugging him);
* If you notice them talking about or feeling hopeless or helpless about their life.

My name is Kerry and I'm the new CEO at Inspire. Inspire is the organisation behind Reach Out!
As some of you may be aware, we recently made a difficult decision to temporarily reduce the number of days that the RO! community forum is operating from July 2007. In response we received many emails from you about how important the community forum is to Reach Out! members. On behalf of Inspire I wanted to say a HUGE thank you for caring enough to send through those messages. I wanted you to know that we have heard you and encourage you to keep sharing your thoughts.
All of us at Inspire are committed to creating the best service possible and the community forums have been a BIG part of that. But they require a lot of resources and it became too difficult in the short term to manage them in a way that best supported everyone. We are however looking at ways to secure the resources we need to extend the availability and improve the community forums.
So what are we going to do? 1) Applications for funding - We are scoping out funding options at the moment. It may take some months for funding to come through but we will stay in touch with how things are going. We have managed to find money in the budget for moderator training in September – however we still need funding to cover ongoing and future training costs.
2) Recruiting moderators – As you know moderators are critical to the smooth running of the forums – they keep the forums safe and facilitate positive and constructive discussion. Moderators are sourced from the community forum and are aged 18-25.
3) Training volunteers – Just as important as moderators are the volunteer supervisors who support the moderators and manage the forums.
How can you help? To reach our goal of sustained funding we need your HELP!
1) Participate in our evaluations - Evaluations and surveys are really important and help us make Reach Out! a better service. We are currently conducting an evaluation of the effectiveness of the forums and other ways to grow our community and the costs involved. We will also soon be inviting people to participate in the Reach Out! user survey and the evaluation of ROC. If you are invited to be part of one of our evaluations please say yes and help us make Reach Out! better for you.
2) Sign our statement of support - It will be important for us to show potential funders just how much the Reach Out! community is wanted. So we've created a Statement of Support for you to log your comments and feedback - here. Please read the information before you sign and I encourage you to add your comments.
3) Keep participating - Reach Out! is all about looking after each other and getting involved. Consider coming in to the Reach Out! community forums and saying hi sometime!
4) Become a Reach Out! supporter - We would love to have you as a supporter. If you are interested you can find out more information at www.inspire.org.au
Thanks again for your support it is much appreciated.
Cheers Kerry

Firstly a mighty thank you to those who voted on our past 2 polls! We find it really interesting to see how you guys found out about RO! 68% of you found out about RO! though Myspace - very cool!!
As for the poll on the next podcast it was very close!! So close infact that we are going to do both! Sarah - our awesome podcasting YA from QLD has already started the podcast about the young people behind RO - so stay tuned!
In other exciting news www.reachout.com.au is getting a face lift, tummy tuck & lipo! Over the next 6 months RO will be in the process of re-doing the RO! site! For the next few months we are creating a time line and looking how to engage young people in focus groups to tell us what sucks and what works. So far we have had 3 meetings. As you can imagine the first meeting was a brain explosion of ideas and exciting enegery - which left us all very drained at the end of it.
In the second meeting we spoke about the constructive feedback the 26th Reach Out! Youth Advisory Board provided us and spoke about how this will effect the renovations.
On Monday we had our 3rd meeting. To give you some background , it had been a long day, the meeting was in the afternoon and Marianne (website manager) & Nikki (Youth Programs coordinator) had the sillies, which didnt help the situation (at least they were amused!) But we did leave with a list of places we can kiddnap ideas & feedback from our target audience (16-25 year olds) and a deadline of July to complete those!
We're all very excited! There will be opportunities for you guys to get involved too!
ahh good times...
I hope you're all having a great week!
Nikki - On behalf of the Reach Out! Crew
(Yes I do realise that I spoke about myself in the thiurd person in this blog...)
ps: I heated my weetbix this morning for the first time ever - it made me feel like an old lady (& made my weetbix soggy!!!)
pps: Stay tuned for another poll!
