Shahid Manning: A graduate of Howard University (a major in Business and an minor in theater) and Children's Theater High School of performing arts and now with over twenty (20) years of acting and production experience and over forty (40) years of life experiences, he founded Blue Horizon Entertainment, LLC., ("BHE").  BHE's mission is to use the magic of Television and Film to produce quality dramatic content that focuses on the conflicts between "society-at-large" and certain social sub-cultures (e.g. A popular sports figure is conflicted as his sexuality doesn't conform to status quo, etc.) The power of BHE programming is that it focuses on dramatic social inter-relationships and that the storylines and characters represent the perspective of all social groups, thus having a broader appeal than even popular Television.  BHE targets the 18-48 male and female who are straight, gay and/or bi-sexual. 

As Executive Producer, his amazing ability to build upon his and other's life experiences to conceive new and innovative dramatic storylines serve as the foundation for which he and other creative professionals use to create amazingly entertaining and anecdotal fiction for all audiences to enjoy.  Mr. Manning is no stranger to show business and his creativity, tenacity, business know how and ability to galvanize a team of dynamite entertainment industry professionals speaks volumes for his success.

Blue Horizon Entertainment welcomes everyone to the webpage. We are excited to be taking part in the explosion of adding more beauty to the complexion of mainstream entertainment by creating quality gay television programming.

BHE wants to make a reality a wealth of gay television programming from comedy to dramas and everything in between. 

BHE believes that energy flows where focus goes.  The law of attraction says we attract to ourselves the things that we want.  Everyone that is a part of this site was attracted to it because they share the same energy and some level the same goals.  You can help whether you know it or not lets talk.   

BHE happily attracts those who are excited and want at some level to help create quality gay programming and share it with the world.   Collectively we can make it happen.  BHE's goal is to share with the world the endless number of feel good everything that is the gay life experience good and bad.  BHE has a limitless number of programs ready for everyone to enjoy.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Mission

BHE specializes in providing and creating quality alternative programming that will captivate audiences and expand the landscape of our network partner's viewership.  BHE focuses on developing original urban gay programming ("UGPG"), a niche market that is growing exponentially.  The mainstreaming of gay culture is evident across all genres of entertainment—movies ("Brokeback Mountain," "Notes On A Scandal" the forthcoming "Tipping the Red Velvet"), television ("Ellen", "Will & Grace," "The Wire," "Noah's Arc") and even literature (E. Lynn Harris, James Earl Hardy).  The marketplace is poised to receive more dramatic, comedic and reality programming showcasing Gay and Lesbian characters in featured roles.

The Process

There is no "I" in TEAM.  That's the mantra of CEO Shahid Manning when speaking of Blue Horizon Entertainment (BHE). Through BHE, he has created a unique production company that harnesses creative professionals (writers, producers, graphic artists, et al.) to form a company that focuses on creating and developing programming and video content (e.g. for Television, Cable and music video concepts).  BHE's business concept bifurcates the creative development process allowing the professionals in each aspect of the process to focus on what they do best, with Shahid Manning overseeing the overall vision of the project as it takes shape.

The Vision

The structure of BHE allows the company to focus on providing network and other creative professionals with original content and ideas. For programming networks and producers, visual experts and various artists, BHE develops original concepts, through galvanizing an active and cohesive team of experts, who, while working diligently in their various fields, are brought together to create a virtual uber-team of creative input and execution, for everything from programming to photography, concepts to commercials, BHE has the resources to pull it together and pull it off!

Further broadening its creative base, BHE has recently developed music video concepts and stage production for a multi-talented Columbia Records recording artist for her upcoming world tour and music videos.  In this exciting and rapidly changing new world of popular television programs and constant flow of music, BHE is committed to and confident in becoming one of the key creative forces in the television music video arenas.  BHE also plans on expanding to create original music and scores for television and recording artists.  To date, BHE has been in contact with such artists as Jerome Benton and various other music producers to expand the creative team of BHE and its vision.

The Summary

With stars like Taye Diggs and Jesse L. Martin (RENT), Alicia Keys (SMOKIN' ACES), Anthony Mackie (BROTHER 2 BROTHER), Queen Latifah (SET IT OFF), Nia Long (IF THESE WALLS COULD TALK), Keith Hamilton Cobb and Victoria Rowell (NOAH'S ARC), Rockmond Dunbar (PUNKS), and (yes) Isaiah Washington (the Spike Lee masterpiece GET ON THE BUS), all taking on gay and lesbian roles that have proven pivotal points in their careers, this genre is open to all audiences who can appreciate quality programs, strong acting and good, solid stories. BHE realizes what any network that wants to increase viewership understands that by joining forces to bring to fruition quality urban gay programming audacious enough to appeal to this ever-increasing marketshare  (e.g. $450 billion in disposal revenue per annum), increase audiences and result in advertising revenue to vast to ignore.

THE BEAM

RU PAUL MEETS HOWARD STERN, WITH A DASH OF MARY J. BLIGE  THE BEAM is a comedy/reality series that would focus on the hilarious antics of world renowned comedian and female impersonator Harmonica Sunbeam and her daily life. Ms. Sunbeam has parlayed her uber-fabulousness into guest-starring in TV roles in "Law and Order SVU" and "Third Watch" and has also appeared in "Uptown Girls" with Britney Murphy and Dakota Fanning,  the hip-hop dance film "Honey" and the Oliver Stone Film World

As a child Karamo envisioned himself creating change in the world like many of his heroes. After college Karamo decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the entertainment industry where he could combine his passion for acting with his passion for advocacy. 

As a new actor in the City of Angels, Karamo struggled to land roles in television and film. By day he worked as a grant writer and development consultant for a community organization in South Central and at night honed his craft by staring in several theatrical productions. Karamo received his big break when he was cast on MTV's critically acclaimed hit series the Real World: Philadelphia. He used the experience to showcase his passion for advocacy by single handedly destroying a common stereotype and by expressing his views for world change; making him one of the most talked about cast members in the history of the show,

Since the Real World's conclusion, Karamo has landed roles on an assortment of television programs such as Hosting MTV Spring Break, Host of Q Chat, Cast as young Tavis Smiley in the movie of his life and Co-Star in Here Networks DL Chronicles. As well Karamo has been featured cast member and celebrity guest on Numerous Reality Shows, Radio Programs and Short Films.           

As well, Karamo was hired by the Democratic National Committee in 2004 and 2005 as a liaison to encourage young voters, minority voters, and the LGBT community to get involved in the democratic process. Between auditions he is also on a National College and Corporate Speaking Tour lecturing on creating safe zones in different environments, the importance of diversity, racism, conflict resolution, sexuality and the importance of being politically involved.

A humanitarian at heart, Karamo uses his success in the entertainment industry not only for his personal gain, but also for the benefit of others who are less fortunate than himself. With determination, hard work and charm Karamo continues to pave a path for other young actors, who are open and embraces their diversity, to follow.

Now Karamo is committed to reaching out and working with progressive production companies such as Blue Horizon Entertainment who's programming promises to be compelling and foster a positive change towards acceptance in our society.

a writer/actor from Atlanta, Georgia, Patrick has a background in theatre where his dramaturgical skills were put into use quite often as a consultant for the prestigious 14^th Street Playhouse and J.C. Hunter Productions. He's also a consultant on films and television shows currently in pre-production and is working on many future projects with Blue Horizon Entertainment and Red Baron Films.
