Maximo Park will be dj-ing at Proud Gallery in Camden, London on the 30th November in support of No Surrender.

The No Surrender Charitable Trust has teamed up with Proud Camden to launch a special interactive exhibition, The Art of Music ‘09.

Showcasing original, one-off canvases created by leading musicians and bands exclusively for No Surrender; The Art of Music ’09 will present the only opportunity to view the works, which are to be auctioned in order to raise funds to support the charity’s vital efforts.

You can view a video on the band creating art for the charity here.

Lukas, who will be dj-ing at the event, had this to say: “No Surrender is an excellent charity and we support them whenever we can. Asking us to be creative outside our normal ‘remit’ as musicians can be slightly unnerving, especially in front of a camera, but with ‘The Art Of Music’ No Surrender have taken an unusual approach and created something unique to bring awareness to their cause.”

Hello,

In my last e-mail to our mailing list I hinted that fellow Warp artiste Clark had done a corking remix for us, so it gives me a certain amount of pleasure to announce a special treat for all Maximo collectors in the shape of our first ever 12″ single, cunningly titled ‘Twelve’. It’s a classic format and we wanted to do something more ‘dance’ because Quicken The Heart is not only sparkling pop, but I find it promotes a wiggle of the backside and a brisk tap of the foot…

Apart from the ‘I Want You To Stay’ b-sides, we’ve avoided remixes largely because we wanted to define ourselves outside of our famous label. We approached some artists we respect and put out the call for remixes. ‘Let’s Get Clinical’ proved popular with Clark (his remix is mental!), Tom Middleton (ultra-danceable!) and Hijacker (subtly addictive!), whereas dubstep pioneer Martyn fancied a crack at ‘A Cloud Of Mystery’ with intoxicating results. My vocal gets chopped up and completely mullered in versions that will hopefully appeal to new people as well as those of you with a toe in techno waters.

It’ll be available on the 2nd of November in Germany and everywhere else two weeks later on the 16th of that same month. You can preorder it from Bleep.com and Recordstore above in the form of 12″ vinyl and the ubiquitous download. Available separately on download only will be some more “aceeeeed” mixes by Tom Middleton in the shape of a ‘Dub’ version and a ‘1989′ version, too.

It comes in a nice fluoro-green sleeve and we’re gonna bring a few with us on tour tonight. They’re currently in transit and those going to the October shows in UK and Germany will have a first chance to hear this collection of beats and bleeps.

I should also mention our appearance on the fantastic Warp20 box set (celebrating the label’s 20th anniversary), which has finally materialised after much personal anticipation. One of the many highlights is a double-disc set of re-worked versions of Warp artists’ songs by Warp artists, including ourselves. Our version of Vincent Gallo’s ‘When’ was recorded at Maximo Heights by Dunc and is REALLY GOOD! But I would say that wouldn’t I? Anyway, you can listen to excerpts from this double-album HERE (or the front page of this MySpace) and decide whether you want to shell out for the lush box-set or just get involved with the separate album.

Taking the Park further out there!
Whoosh!

Happy Birthday Warp Records.
Heading to Sheffield with Lukas to play some music we like in the old shop where it all began for Warp. No big deal... just 20 years of awesomeness!

Just watched a documentary on Jay-Z. Inspirational.
I'm even throwing a diamond sign in the air, as I type, even though that's kinda impossible.
Peace!
