You’ve got to read Me, Myself, and My Autism

Here’s a summary:

Boys just like any children, want acceptance and love. This is especially true for a young boy named, Steven. He wants acceptance and love, too. He wants to feel like he belongs, too. There is one thing different about Steven. He has Autism.

Me, Myself, and My Autism (a children’s book) is written by Mr. Jamie Quaranta. It’s a semi-autobiographical depiction of his childhood experiences as a boy growing up with a social and intellectual disability. Jamie is a very successful person. He has an undergraduate degree in library and information science from Southern Connecticut State University (New Haven, Connecticut).

It’s illustrated by my good friend, Sami Wnek.
She’s an artist and a recreational therapist!

Children should read this book. I’m a strong advocate for promoting literacy and encouraging children to become avid, life-long readers. However, don’t make the mistake and believe that this is only a children’s book. I believe anyone who helps children should read this book, especially teachers and therapists. You never know when you may come across a child with Autism. It’s best to be prepared.
