I didn't intend to disappear for quite so long.
I'm actually not sure what inspired me to write today, but you know how it is - one day you finally feel like you should say something and it needs to be said before you lose your focus yet again.
I'm not done playing music. I'm taking a long break, yes, and the timing of this break may be a little unorthodox, what with all the great shows and developments that were ramping up right before I stopped. But just like every other time I've set aside my guitar to pursue a different track, the songs keep writing themselves in my head and one of these days they're going to beat their way out of me in a form that I'll be too excited not to share with everyone.
For now, though:
* I am doing just fine, no major catastrophes or accidents behind all this.
* By "just fine" of course I mean all of me except for my bank account, which is currently in traction after snapping under the weight of my student loan and car loan with the added pressure of the economic crisis.
* In order to become a financially responsible adult I had to move back into the "real world," where I currently work at the University of Chicago.
* Additionally, I am now engaged to my wonderful boyfriend of the past 3 years, Adam Flynn, who proposed to me in front of hundreds of strangers at the Trevi Fountain in Rome this spring.
* It was awesome.
* In addition to my day job, I'm heading up PR for a not-for-profit in Chicago called Pumping Station: One - it's a hacker space.
* It is also awesome.
* No really, this is what we did last night.

99.9% of the time I am a sucker for thunderstorms. They make me happy. Except when I'm onstage at Summerfest with my incredibly hard-working band and my devoted fans out in the crowd. Then they SUCK.
