January 1, 2009 - Thursday

Goodmorning. We went to breakfast at a rockin diner in the hotel. Our waiter stopped what he was doing to sing aweful versions of Elvis songs every twenty minutes. Justyna put on a smokin hot gold dress and we left for the strip at 9pm. There were people everywhere! We walked up and down the strip drinking and laughing. We wanted to make it back to the hotel shortly after midnight so we could start drinking. We ended up seeing the fireworks from the van. A fitting end to a year spent mostly in the van. At the liquor store I gave them Justyna's credit card and was denied because the boys had told the guys at the counter how hot she looked and they wanted to see her. I had to ask her to come in so they could catch a glimpse. Hey I was lookin too. We went to a club in the hotel and I danced some salsa with my girl. I think that made her night. We drank and gambled on some penny slots. Penny slots are just as much fun as dollar slots, and you don't lose as much. It was an awesome night had by all!

We have been driving for 34 hours now and I can finally see the lights of  the Vegas strip. We are all excited, but not as much as Casino Kid.( Johnny). He has been telling us stupid Vegas facts for 6 hours now and it's getting annoying. I think I'm just tired. We arrive at the Stratosphere and it's time for a drink. Justyna comes walking through the casino doors a short time later and makes us all at ease. My girl and my boys all here and ready to make some noise. You aint ready bra!
December 30, 2008 - Tuesday
We have been driving for about 20 hours. It's 9:30 pm now and we just got a hold of our boy Big Tony. Tony and Gaylan invited us to stop and stay the night. The house is beautiful, but it's out there. Without the GPS Marty got for Christmas we never would have found it. It was so great to not only get a place to sleep, but to see good friends as well. Together we drank 2 bottles of whiskey and a 24 of St. Pauly's Girl bottles. ..in about two hours. We slept in front of the fireplace and took off at 10am. Tony said with confidence that he has the best record collection in New Mexico. Like the beatles said....I'm a believa. Don't ask I'm on alot of cold medication.
December 28, 2008 - Sunday
Being home for the holidays was great for everyone. Thanks again Mrs. F. We really need that family love once in a while to keep us going out here. On the flight back to New Orleans we all had drinks and relaxed. When we got back to uncle Rich's house we went out with some friends and said our goodbye's. It has'nt hit uncle Rich that his resident band is leaving. Vegas here we come.

12.26 THE FAMOUS FITZGERALDS - This is oue crown jewel of shows while we are back home. playing with Mark cavanaughs: C-jones band and Vince Mammosers Des Plaines River Band this show is going to be off the hook and probably sold out. This show you do not want to miss

12.27 Timeout - This show has yet to be confirmed but we are really pulling for it so I will update you as soon as I find out.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

Let us use this section to tell you what we need you, our loyal fans, to do. Its so important you guys become involved. The only reason we are still touring and kicking ass is because of YOU!

We are a completely "do it yourself" band. We design all our stuff, book all our shows, pay for all our merchandise, and every dollar we make goes right back into the band. None of us has made a profit in over 17 months. Its rough but its something we believe in and we can't do it without you.

This is probably the biggest, hardest, and most important thing you can do for us. But if you guys can help us we can pull it off. The music business has changed so much in the last 3 years that the album is almost dead. Its all about the singles. If you go to i-tunes and download SAMANTHA FOX and have all your friends, family, and anyone you know do it it will put us on the map. It only costs 99 cents. THATS IT! if we can get 10,000 to 20,000 people to do this we will be forever in your debt. This is huge! There is no way we can do this without you. So be part of something, spread the word, and tell everyone to do it.

Another thing you can do is sign our guest book. If you have any e-mail lists, send them to us. If you know anyone with a huge list or a family member that has a big list, send it to us. This does wonders in getting our name out and keeping in touch with the most important people of all. YOU!

GIVE US SUGGESTIONS: if you thing we should make different designs on our shirts. New merchandise we should get. What we should call our next tour. Places we should play. Cities we should come to. Songs we should write. Were open to everything so don't be shy. If you have some wacky promotional idea and it works we will send you some free stuff. If you know some cool websites to get on send them our way.

JOIN OUR STREET TEAM: Like I mentioned before we are a do it yourself band. So if were coming to a town near you we need your help to promote. Or if you know someone that lives in the town we are going to, tell them. Write us, we will send you flyers, stickers, cd's, whatever we can. Pass out flyers, tell that important person they got to check us out. We need your help!

*Liquor Boxx Rocked My Socks and My Clothing Off!! * Review submitted: *11/18/2008*

Man, i got to see these guys just a few days ago at Myrtle Beach at Bike Week-what a show. They were hands-down one of the best live acts I've ever seen. They really got the crowd into their show, we were eating out of the palm of their hands. The singer just came off as such a cool guy and had all the ladies wanting to get onstage with him. The bassist was steady and could really groove and the drummer was just fantastic, even doing a several-minutes solo and held our attention. And the guitarist did and played things I'd never heard before. It was like a seance to the guitar gods with hot chicks.

REVIEW FROM THE FAYETTEVILLE OBSERVER

WSE: Listen Up with Liquor Boxx

By Jessica De Vault
Staff Writer

There's an alternative rock band that plans to bring sexy rock back to Fayetteville.

And not just any sort of sexy rock but sexy Chicago rock.

Liquor Boxx stakes a claim to this sort of music and will be performing it at The Rock Shop with The Travisty and Irvine this Saturday.

Liquor Boxx is most commonly known for its ability to blend classic rock — think Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin — and alternative rock.

The band's four members have traveled the nation, performing at more than 220 shows since being signed to the label Refugee Entertainment in October 2007.

Liquor Boxx bassist Mike "Farreli" Farrelly said the band has had a great time touring and visiting new cities and fans.

"The tour is fantastic! It's great to see the United States, to meet different types of people and to see the different cultures in this great nation of ours," Farrelly said. "At moments, touring has been surreal, and at other moments, it's been brutally real."

The quartet is known for executing a charismatic live show that features a style resembling their musical idols, Led Zeppelin. They also have been compared to that band in recent music reviews.

Farrelly chatted with the Weekender Street Edition about those comparisons, their music and the upcoming show.

Weekender: You all were signed in October of last year to Refugee Entertainment. What has it been like since then?

Farrelly: It's a fantastic thing. It's kind of like saying if I have Ph.D., I'm a doctor. In the music profession, saying that you're signed gives you a false sense that you made it, because 90 percent of the time there are huge obstacles to overcome. You can't sit back and drink beers all day. If anything, it gets harder, but you have a sense of accomplishment.

Weekender: Your sound is all over the rock map, and critics have given your music many labels. But how do you define your work?

Farrelly: I suppose it has changed. Over time, our music has evolved. It's much different from where it's at now, because we've traveled to the South, East Coast (and) West Coast, and they all cater to a different genre. The South likes their jam music, and the West Coast is strictly about Sublime-esque music, and the East Coast is pure rock 'n' roll.

So we've gathered all those things and put them together. So I couldn't put a name on it, but it's a mix between classic blues and rock.

Weekender: What are some of the band's musical influences?

Farrelly: The Doors, Sublime, Hendrix, Zeppelin. All of us have musical backgrounds. Those are probably the three or four that connects us all.

Weekender: You guys are often compared to Led Zeppelin? Do you believe the comparisons are accurate?

Farrelly: Well, we have no delusions of grandeur. We're not rock stars quite yet. We're talented individuals. To say we're the next Led Zeppelin, it would be an overstatement. But we have the same energy they did, and we take a lot of cues from what they were trying to do in their time and use it as a guideline with where we take ourselves today.

Weekender: Your music is often called, "sexy Chicago rock." What makes your music sexy?

Farrelly: Probably the live performance. That's what really does us justice. The songs we have on our MySpace really don't. It's something in a live performance that can't be said in a live recording, there's just no way. Each of us individually are not so sexy. But put us all together, we're really sexy.

Weekender: What do you think sets you guys apart from the rest of the rock groups out there?

Farrelly: Dedication. Drive. Ambition. Talent.

Weekender: Can you tell me about your album, "To the Face: 10 Songs of Greatness?"

Farrelly: It's good rock music that's about cutting loose and having fun. There wasn't an underlying message to it all. But as time progressed, as we started traveling and seeing all these different places, these songs took shape. The songs you hear on this album has evolved so much.

Weekender: What can we expect to see from your performance this Saturday?

Farrelly: Expect to see something familiar, but totally different at the same time. What we've basically done is try to capture the feel of classic rock, early '60s and '70s, Led Zeppelin, some Hendrix and make it acceptable and cool for today.

Liquor Boxx is a quartet based out of Chicago featuring Kevin Mace on vocals, Martin Farrelly on bass, Patrick Creedon on guitars and Johnny "Drama" Stoneking on drums.  Heavily influenced by classic and alternative rock, Liquor Boxx's sound is a blend of both worlds.  The band created such a buzz in local venues that numerous independent labels expressed interest in signing them.  To the Face is the debut album by Liquor Boxx under the Refugee Entertainment, LLC label.

The music found on To the Face is amazing – this album represents a rock and roll experience that has long been missing from mainstream radio.  In fact, it would seem that the focus of this album is to showcase Liquor Boxx's musical talents.  Vocals are secondary on this album, but really, who cares with such incredible guitar riffs and rocking beats.  The press information supplied for the band states that Liquor Boxx is suitable for fans of Jet.., Buckcherry.., Black Crowes.., Jimi Hendrix.., Led Zepplin.. and Stevie Ray Vaughan...  I would go as far to say that any fan of the classic rock era would be extremely happy to own a copy of To the Face

Getting back to the limited vocals found on this album  - the vocals supplied by Kevin Mace on To the Face actually add to the classic rock feel.  Think The Doors'.. Jim Morrison.. meets Jimi Hendrix meets the Black Crowes.  Kevin Mace's vocals are right on par with the classic rock meets alternative rock venue of the band.

Patrick Creedon really steals the show in To the Face with his incredible guitar solos.  My favorite track on the album – Tomorrow – features Creedon prominently in a solo that is reminiscent of Pearl Jam's.. sound.  The guitar solo is what attracted me to the song.  The first couple of seconds, I was simply glued to the CD player wondering where he was going to go with it.

To the Face is a fun journey between retro and today's rock.  I can definitely see a future for this band and hope they get some play time on mainstream radio.  Word has it that they have been on a lengthy tour, traveling from coast to coast, playing over 220 shows in over 175 venues.  That ought to get the word out about their music.

But if you really want to know what Liquor Boxx is all about, you simply have to hear them for yourselves.  Check out Liquor Boxx's debut album To the Face at Amazon.com, iTunes, CD Baby, Rhapsody or Napster.  The promo material I received for Liquor Boxx says that their "go to" tracks are Ask Me to Stop.., Cheap Sex N Vodka.. and Samantha Fox.  Although I liked Samantha Fox, I think you get a better handle of the band from the tracks Tomorrow and Up N Down Me.  Trust me, this is not a one hit wonder kind of band.  I expect to hear music from Liquor Boxx played in mainstream venues in no time.

Outstanding Band, Reminiscent of the Doors, Zeppelin, And Black Crowes [- Hide]
Guestlistmagazine.com
Chicago's Liquor Boxx has certainly carved out their name amongst the alternative rock scene through countless tour dates, a unique style that lends as much alternative flare as it does classic rock, and have even been dubbed as "sexy Chicago Rock." With their latest effort "To The Face," they seem to be on a mission to show the world just what it is they can do all around musically and just when you think you have them figured out, they hit you with the unexpected. Though for my liking the songs tend to get a little long at times, with some of them topping off at over 6 minutes, there isn't any denying the fact that this band features incredible musicianship and outstanding vocals that seem to channel the late, legendary Doors singer Jim Morrison more often than not. If you like your alternative music rocking they display that style on tracks like the guitar driven "Cheap Sex N Vodka" they drop a groovy bass line that will have your head bopping right along with them on "Evil Girl," a driving guitar riff and vocal reminiscent of the 60's rockers like the Doors or later Rolling Stones on "Rock Your Soul, and seem to bring out a bit of a Black Crowes influence with "Tomorrow." As I stated earlier they seem to be on a mission to show you exactly what they bring to the table, with no two songs really following the same trend other than the fact that they can be classified as good, solid rock songs with a wide variety of influences coming together to form a unique sound.

Oh, my. I needed a good night out. And luckily I was able to convince my good friend Mike that he needed a night out, too, after a day hard-spent watching season one of "Weeds." Since this was the weekend of the annual Atlantis Music Conference, I thought we could just pick a venue and hang out for five or six hours listening to some (hopefully) good music.

Smith's Olde Bar. Always a good choice, especially last night. First, let me throw a shout out to Chicago band Liquor Boxx for being the last band on and with the smallest audience and somehow still managing to rock the holy fucking hell out of the joint. Easily the best band of the night. Too bad they went on last - a lot of milquetoasts were tired by then, freakin' 2 am, grow a pair, already! - because they missed some funky, bluesy rock-n-fuckin-roll. The real stuff. What your parents always warned you about. Liquor Boxx, my friends, is the shit that gets you chased by the cops just before dawn and no one is really even sure why. You just know you've never had a better time in your entire life.

Might I also add that during the show the singer scouted the audience for a lady to help the guitar player take the reigns for a few. I offered my hand. He jumped off the stage and like a gentleman he took my hand and led me up the steps to face the crowd. The guitarist lifted his arms and I stood in front of him as he lowered his arms and his guitar in front of me. As the singer told me, "Just stand there, baby, and hold on." Hold on I did as the guitarist went on to have a mini-shred fest that totally did not require such close proximity, but it was fun anyway. The whole time I could think of nothing but, "You're wearing stillettos. Steady yourself. This is not the time to fall. DO NOT FALL IN FRONT OF THESE PEOPLE." Ha. I didn't. Thank God I wasn't drinking, right?

Please check out Liquor Boxx. Keep track of their tour schedule. See them whenever you can. And go to their MySpace site and throw them some love!

"I have the utmost respect for these guys, they knew they had something good and they knew what they wanted to do, they just didn't know how. So these four crazy rockers just got in a van and went for it. They didn't know where they were going to eat, sleep, and sometimes even play. Bands don't do this anymore, the music business has changed. To have the balls to do what they are doing and succeed is a testament to all of us with dreams everywhere"

Liquor Boxx brought the house down [- Hide]

Sweeney's had a refreshing, kind of laid-back atmosphere.  Despite the fact that it been here for years, it really gets overshadowed by flashier bars, so it like a best kept secret
of Philly for those in-the-know.  Pretentiousness?  Nah.  Bad customer service?  Not
while I've ever been there.  I don't go all the time but when I need a reminder of what decent people are like, I go to Sweeney's.  The low-key atmosphere and clientele make
it a perfect place to live music and the times I've been there when a band was, the band also fit this comfortable environment.  The first time I went there wasn't a band, and the
next couple times were locals, but this last time I was really something special-a band who I think said were from Chicago called Liquor Boxx who brought the house down and I think got every girl's attention in the room, especially when the guitarist lifted a girl on his shoulders while he kept playing!  Their soulful rock
vibed really well with Sweeney's and made for an incredibly fun combination.

I was Prepared to hate them [- Hide]
Guest Blogger, http://bandweblogs.com/guestbloggers/
I was prepared to hate them. I was dragged to Liquor Boxxs show at Rock City, in Mentor, OH, by a friend who had been given a flier by one of the band members the night
before, proclaimed that he was really cute and that we had to go. Now, this is normally the sign of a long night that can only be made better by some kind of freakish power
outage, but thankfully, this was not the case here. Around 10:30, a group from Chicago called Liquor Boxx took to the stage, which I had
been noticing before theyd even gone up because it looked, well professional.. Though
appearing to be effortlessly cool, someone in the band had obviously put a lot of thought into the look of it, with scarves on the mic stand, and a tiger-print looking drum kit and matching guitars, though it didnt give the impression they were trying too hard.  They announced that they were on the East coast leg of their tour, dubbed Inner Peace,
and started with a catchy up-tempo number. With the opening notes, their Hendrix and
Zeppelin influences were plain to see, though they were coupled with the bands own dramatic flair. It soon became clear that Kevin Mace the singer, is quite the frontman and
before the night was over he literally had people moving on the dance floor and several women who actually invited themselves onstage. During their set, Patrick Creedon, the
guitarist actually played guitar around a girl and then hoisted her on his shoulder-all the while doing a wicked guitar solo. The bassist, Marty Farrelly, was very solid and had a
great quiet presence and Johnny Stoneking, their drummer, played a five minute solo that
ended with him playing with glow-in-the-dark sticks and then just his hands!
Liquor Boxx offered a live show that had something that I havent seen in a long time- substance. Not only do they actually play their instruments, but they play them
exceptionally well, not only are they charismatic but they make you feel personally involved in, and responsible for, their rising stature on the indie scene; youre rooting for
these guys to succeed because they work so hard, put on a great show, entertain the crowd and they have that intangible something special. Already signed to Refugee
Entertainment, LLC, a smart move by the indie record label, Liquor Boxxs live show offers guitar contortionism, musical virtuosity, charisma, and passionate, bluesy
alternative rock at its best.

Damn Good! [- Hide]
Confoozled.com
Yesterday I was contacted by a promoter representing the Chicago band Liquor Boxx who asked if I would consider featuring the band on
confoozled.com. After listening to a few tracks I was more than happy to oblige. They describe their music as a merging of classic and alternative rock. The important thing is that they're pretty damn good. If you happen to live in this area, Liquor Boxx' east coast tour is making a stop this Friday at KC's Tap in Pawtucket, RI. Showtime is 11pm.

November 15, 2008 - Saturday

Active Minds was founded to help prevent suicide in colleges across our nation. By educating parents, proffesors, and students about the growing number of suicides taking place in our Universities we all hope to prevent these tragedies. Too many students ( 1,100 each year ) are leaving this earth much too early. The sad part is these tragedies can be prevented by breaking the silence of these children and showing them how valuable they are to thier friends and familys. "Send Silence Packing" is a program bent on raising the awareness level in our communities. Liquor Boxx was proud to be a part of this foundation and believes in this cause. I have personally experienced many of these tragedies first hand and know how hard it is to be left behind. One of my lifetime long friends left us recently in a horrific manor. I want to talk to him again and let him know how many people respect and love him but that opportunity has passed me by. I wish I could have done or said something to change his mind. I miss him. After an emotionally exhausting Friday of preforming at Penn University and talking about suicide prevention I now know there is something I can do. I can continue to support Active Minds and help educate everyone in our communities about suicide prevention. My heart consistantly and constantly throbs reminding me of my friend, every moment I continue to breathe. I pray that no other individual has to feel this pain. So please join us and be a part of the alternative to suicide..... LIFE.

November 14, 2008 - Friday

This is our last trip to Philly before we make it home for our Christmas break. We are excited to see our friends Tom, Charlie, Kenny, Suzie, Angela, and everyone else who comes to Sweeny's every Thursday. Nico of Zodiac showed up and got up to sing along with Charlie and Kenny. Always a great night. Matt got some great footage again and was a huge part of the energy in the building. We always love coming to Sweeny's and we will miss it while we're gone. No worries, we won't be gone that long. We think of Philly as our home away from home. Much love.

November 11, 2008 - Tuesday

We were all invited to the parlor for free ink for paticipating in Lil John's party on Saturday. Marty and I finished up a phone interview with a local publication and headed down the street for gyro's. We were disappointed with the amount of meat but overall not bad. We already knew where Johnny was and made our way to the parlor to find him. There he was. Sitting in a chair getting stabbed repeatedly. Looked like it hurt. Marty and I watched calmly and smoked cigarettes recaping the events of our weekend. When Big John arrived he created a design for my arm. Jimi Hendrix. When he was ready he said " come on guy let's do this". I sat down with my drink and my cigarettes and he worked non stop for an hour and a half. During that time Patrick had arrived and was now sitting right behind me getting his work done. Marto would follow shortly after I was finished. I am stoked about my new peice and can't wait to continue to work all the way up my arm. Check out thier work at Savageandheads.com.

November 9, 2008 - Sunday

A couple of weeks back we played The Dive Bar. At the show we met Johnny and Ben who have a tattoo parlor in Raleigh. Johnny's son, Lil John was killed in a car accident when he was seventeen. Big John and friends throw Lil John a birthday party every year to celebrate his life. We were invited to play this night for Lil John. There was a skate competition, best bike contest, WET t-shirt contest, best booty and tattoo contest as well as three great bands. The party was awesome! The cat they had doing security was the size of Hulk Hogan. We got some great footage of Wayne and I flexing side by side. Wait til ya'll see this. The whole experience was one to remember. They had a huge projection screen behind us while we played with a montage of Lil John's life. He was a very talented skater and seemed to have a smile that never left his face. Thank's for letting us be a part of your family. Nothin but love Savage and friends.
