The Houston Press posted an article about me on thier web edition of the publication. If you have a few minutes, please take a look at it. Hopefully you can go one step further and write a comment on wether or not you liked the article.

In order to leave a comment, you have to provide a name, and an email address. No worries though, they wont make your email public and they dont blast out emails to you. I think its mainly to keep track of how many DIFFERENT people leave feedback. (As opposed to 1 person doing a gang of comments under random names)

This is just the web article so that people in AND outside of Houston can read it. They will be doing a more in-depth interview with me for the newspaper version of the publication very soon. I'll do my best to post that article once it hits newstands so that my folks outside of Houston can read it as well.

Heres the link to todays web version.

ok so TOL2 has been released and is circulating out there. Its doing very well I might add. We all know the somewhat contreversal cover that depicts my brains gettin blown out. Distributors and record stores all gave me crap about it but I felt it made a statement about my music so I made sure it was released the way it was. Here is the cover image in case you need a reminder...

Now in order to really explain to C. Gunnz what I wanted him to draw, I had to make a visual depiction of my idea for him to feed off of. So I got on the computer and opened up the Paint program and sketched this out for him....

It's hard to see the end without knowing where to begin

The unexpected news of a widely accepted friend

Him

He who wore the smile that brightened our lives

The spirit. The vibe. The love in his eyes

Time

Hours and days. Months and years

The gift to reflect. The curse of the tears

Cheers

In celebration of a soul that has passed

With the raise of a glass... FatBat, free at last.

THINKIN' OUT LOUD PART 2

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

When describing this artist, one really does have to think outside the box for a minute to actually grasp his style.  It is a style that is a unique mixture of hip hop, blues and pop combined with thoughtful, lyrical word play. With this artist you have to put all labels and all stereotypes aside to really embrace the return of artistic expression through Coast's music. Coast is definitely not an artist who is afraid to reinvent himself over and over again.  Coast explains it this way: "The world is too large for us to be told to stand in a single file line. Exploration and reinvention is key."

Coast has definitely done just that taking Southern hip-hop in bold, innovative new directions with his newly developed mix-album, "Thinkin' Out Loud 2: Thoughts on the Wall." This album is made up of deep heartfelt tracks that will reach fans on a totally different level. It delivers music that many people can really feel and relate to in their everyday lives. It hits home. "What you hear on Thoughts On The Wall is definitely the most personal I have ever gotten with my music. It's the first project that I've recorded in the solitude of my own home. This time I had the freedom to write and record whatever I felt at any given moment once the mood and creativity aligned itself. My listeners already know me to be inspiring and artistic... and I believe those are the only two things that I have yet to stray away from. I don't know if I'm the breath of fresh air that people say I am... I'm the same filthy oxygen but I can paint the sky like no one else can. I am convincingly human and that's what my Thinkin' Out Loud series is all about."

Street Science teams up with Epsom Entertainment to bring this very inventive project to life, hitting stores today November 18th.   This mix-album provides a glimpse of what makes up the livelihood of this very artistic artist.  This album also comes packaged with a CD foldout cover that appropriately showcases the vision and creativeness flowing throughout this innovative mind.

Be on the look out for the music video for the hit single, "I Can't Complain" to hit television networks nationwide.

ok so let me set this up 4 yall. ya see... during the process of recording TOL2, i made it a point 2 show Gunnz a minimal amount of the new material. and thats not because i don't value his opinion enough 2 show him anything... it's actually the complete opposite. I value his opinion more than anyone else's and i wanted 2 greet him with the final product instead of fractions of it at a time. Gunnz is a really good homeboy of mine. His honesty is what i respect most about him. He aint a "yes" man. He'll speak his mind on weather or not he likes sumn regardless of who is listening.
I gave him an advanced copy of the final version of TOL2: Thoughts On The Wall. he listened 2 it and hit me up 2 say that he thought it was good. he said he rates it a 8 out of 10. shit... thats a good rating if u ask me. anyways, he hit me back a day later on AIM... and this is the transcript of our convo....

Me: Dewd... my artwork is mad stupid dope fresh

CG: hahahaha
CG: indeed

Me: why u still awake?
Me: have u slept?

CG: oh... went to bed
CG: got like 4hrs in

Me: i got like maybe 5.... still wanna sleep more but not sleepy

(he was up until 6am emailin me proofs of the artwork for TOL2 before it gets sent 2 be printed)

CG: me, greezi, and one of his boys just finished listening to TOL2

Me: feedback

CG: dude... was kinda crazy listening to it this time...

Me: wtf

CG: i can hear a piece of you and personality in each one of ur songs
CG: like the different aspects of u
CG: the lets get krunk and sip henny Coast
CG:the serious I've got things on my mind Coast
CG: was like.. damn... this nigga puts who he is in each one of his songs whether he knows it or not

Me: thats good 2 hear... was hoping it would project who i am more than most people expected
Me: its like how u dont want people 2 say "oh c.gunnz??... hell yeah that nigga makes pretty pictures.: as opposed 2, "nigga.... c.gunnz!!!! that dude bleeds passion into his work"

CG: hahahahahaha
CG: well i heard it here nigga
CG: s'crazy cuz listenin to it I'm like... i know this nigga. i know exactly what he was feelin when he recorded that. i can hear it. Like u reminiscing how when u was a kid in school writing raps in one song
CG: then hearing about how u can get frustrated with aspects of life and dealing with it on "Breathe"

Me: and i think thats why people get me. like people who know me, get me, because they can match the music 2 my personality... and the people who dont know me match the music 2 the thought of an artist that isn't at all like what they're used 2 hearing.... and that gives them a sence of my indiviuality. so basically, i let everybody know me. i think thats 1 of the reasons, if not the main reason, why them internet gangsters or niggas in any hood don't go out of their way 2 say sumn negative about me.
Me: almost wanna say it's like everybody has a bit of Coast in 'em.... but i"ll just say that everybody see's a bit of themselves in me.

CG: makes alot of sence
CG: man i really dig "Alternate Curriculum"

Me: like i aint out here tryna paint myself as some kinda 2pac.... i could never do that.... but i do paint myself as incredibly human.

CG: and that comes through in ur music
CG: we get to see all the aspects of u in different songs of urs. shows u as being 3-dimensional and real.

Me: and on that note... this convo will be posted as my newest blog

just thought I'd share that with yall. one of the many convo's C. Gunnz and I have across AIM.
