Five tracks for Five Dollars.  You can't beat that.  I think Arby's did a promotion like that once upon a time, and it worked out quite well for them.  So there you have it!  The new, self titled EP is now available for purchase on CD Baby!  Just click on the little picture/icon/link below and start downloading:

TRISTAN ECKERSON: Tristan Eckerson

You can only get MP3's on the CD Baby site, but do not fear ye' old school folk, I will have hard copies of the EP at all of my shows, starting Dec. 2nd at the Climate Theatre.  That show, by the way, will be the first set I perform with the newly installed, San Francisco edition "Tristan Eckerson Band."

The EP will also be available very soon on many other digital distribution outlets such as Rhapsody, Amazon, and of course good ole' Apple I-Tunes.

You can listen to some of the tracks from the EP on my player right now.  Hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for much more to come!

Peace,

Tristan

P.S.  I will be back in Cincinnati for the annual Homeskillet Thanksgiving Celebration in a little over a month from now, so I'll see all you Nati folks real soon for another night of turkey infused debauchery!!

Hello Everyone,

Well, it's been awhile since I've put a blog on this site, but I wanted to let everybody know back East what's been goin' on out West...

I have been playing a lot, and writing a lot of new music out here.  San Francisco is a very inspirational and artistically supportive city.  I am currently finishing up the assembly of new, West Coast edition Tristan Eckerson Band, and I am also playing in a pop punk band called "Taxes."  That's pretty fun.  I am also working up a cocktail blues, sexy soul type project with my friend and fellow musician "Nomi."(www.myspace.com/nomisongs)  I've got some gigs booked, and hopefully I will be playing more and more in the very near future.

I hit up this open Mic at the Hotel Utah downtown almost every week, and it's cool because they record your songs and post them on your own personal website.  A lot of the new material I have written since I've been in San Francisco is up on that page, so check it out:

I hope everyone in the Nasty Nati and the Midwest/East Coast is doing well.  See you soon.  Maybe some Trifectafunk in the Nati at Christmas time?  Who knows...

Peace,

Tristan

P.S.  If you haven't lately, pop over to my solo page and check out some new tunes and videos:

For anyone who is wondering who the crazy guitar player is on our Thanksgiving 2007 tracks up on our player right now, here is your answer:

Jason Stenger

Jason Stenger is the lead guitarist and vocalist of the band HEADBAND, and also plays lead guitar in the band Working class villain.

Stenger is an old friend of ours, and often sits in with Trifectafunk.  I also often sit in with Headband.  And we both play in the Voltron-esque group Homeskillet, which plays once a year on Thanksgiving night.  The group is a combo of members of Trifectafunk, Headband, Grooveshire, and the Rumpke Mtn. Boys.

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Peace,

Tristan

The entire Trifectafunk set from Homeskillet's 2007 Thanksgiving Celebration is now available for free download on the Myspace Player.

I am moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico the 1st of April, so this may well have been the last set Trifectafunk will ever play.  You never know.

The good thing is that it was a great set.  Maybe one of the best sets we have ever played.

So, listen to it, download it, and spread it around.

Peace,

Tristan Eckerson

Since this past summer I have putting together a group of some of the most talented musicians in Cincinnati and Kentucky, with the goal of playing and recording some of my latest original material. The result is the newly formed Tristan Eckerson Band.

The band consists of:

Tristan Eckerson- Keyboards, Organ, Piano, Vocals
Katherine Monnig of The Gregory Morris Group- Drums
Ben Cochran of Trifectafunk & Chief Richa Recordings- Bass
Al Frierson of Souse and Aalias- Alto Saxaphone
Danielle Cirelli of The Dominant Seven- Trumpet
G. Scott Jones of Baoku and "The Image Afro-Beat Band"- Trombone

The profile for each member of the band can be found in the Top Friends section of my profile, along with the other Groups they are involved in.

Our First Gig will be Thursday, Dec. 6th at the Greenwich in Walnut Hills.  Souse and Aalias will also be performing.  Check out the calender for more dates.(www.myspace.com/tristaneckerson)

We will be recording an EP this winter, which will be released in the early spring of 2008.

Stay Tuned.

Current mood:comfortably numb
Dream when you want to dream, you can never slow down
If you worry about how things might be, you will miss the things that are
Sit in peace and love your life
If you don't, make it so, but realize the task ahead of you
Travel the insides of your mind as well as the outsides of your world
Find someone to share it with and hold nothing back
The little things and the grandeur, they all mix together
Live without prejudice, and fight without ignorance
Love without caution, and die with no regrets
Live for the things you want, and be satisfied with the things you get

The complex can be simple
The world can just flow
Your life may be over
You may not even know
The trips that are taken
The pictures that show
Sitting in silence
Watch the moon glow
The son of a child
The father of time
the lyrics of industry
Pieced in a rhyme
The wanting of solace
A cry for your heart
Through a tunnel of vision
The end and the start

So, I'm sitting on this computer, pondering why anything is anything, and everything is nothing.  If this sounds a little psuedo-intellectual and existential to you, then maybe you should peel your own damn socks off, eat some spaghettios, and leave this poor, jaded boy alone.

It is what it is
You are what you it
There are no mistakes

Think about it.  Think long and hard.  Wasn't it thoreau that said watching ice and water is one of the most introspective and therapeutic of all activities?  Why do people think at all about their dreadful, joyous, and preposterous lives?  It is possible that the ignorant fool walking towards the cliff edge with his lunch box swinging by his side is ultimately far more full of wisdom than any transcendentalist.  It's possible, but no one will ever know, because the ignorant fool will continue his blissful path, and the frustrated intellectual will continue as well.  The two's paths will never connect, and no truth will ever be discovered.

It is what it is
You are what you it
There are no mistakes

A lifetime spent in pursuit of your dreams, even if they are not achieved, is not a wasted life.  In fact, it might be possible that the pursuit is more fulfullling than the realization.  Living is a contradiction, and the age old pursuit of happiness is ultimately a ploy.  Every single "American Dream" subscribing citizen is led to believe that they must achieve some form of wealth, power, or other highstanding.  Could it be enough that peace of mind comes from desperately reaching for achievement?  A liftetime pursuing something is still worth every penny, even if that something turns out to be a complete failure.  I'm not advocating failure, what I am advocating is passion, ambition, and living so ridiculously on the edge that you will never have to worry about wether or not you are successfull or accomplished.  You will know.

So am I talking in circles?  Have you peeled your socks off yet?  "We're just recreation for all you bankers and lawyers."  I have nothing really important to say to you, except that:

"Now and then it's good to pause in our pursuit of happiness and just be happy."                  -Guillame Apollinaire

So next time you are presented with the opportunity to break out of your shell or take a chance, do it, because you never know when you might choke on a spaghettio.

Thanks,

Tristan
