Carlos Francisco Magno, commonly known as “Los”, a twenty-five year old writer and frontman of the band The Out of Body Special lived in Provident Villages in Marikina City. On September 26, 2009, the entire subdivision was submerged in violent floodwaters brought by the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy; its residents lost almost everything: their homes, property and much more. Of the immediate deaths in Marikina, about seventy-five percent were from Provident.


Through the gracious effort of friends, as well as the heroism displayed by many of our fellow Filipinos, Los, his family and many others like him are slowly recovering in the storm’s aftermath, and help continues to pour out to the thousands of victims through various relief projects. Unfortunately, farther up in the north, another typhoon, Pepeng, has ravaged the provinces, leaving many dead, drowning in flash currents and buried by landslides. The devastation has spread and resources have greatly thinned; the number of lives to be saved has not yet diminished.


Now, in this small endeavor, Los along with Boomtown Studios hope to extend the kindness, generosity and love showed to his family, to the victims of Typhoon Pepeng. The Los Cause benefit series brings together today’s most talented OPM acts for five nights of music and nation rebuilding, the proceeds of which will go directly up north, in the provinces of Pangasinan, Benguet, etc., wherever help is most needed. It is the goal of this project to keep the miracle alive, and let the truly human and Filipino spirit of strength and compassion shine through in these dark times.

Hello everyone! It's been forever hasn't it? It hasn't! Just two months! But it might as well have been forever because that's how it felt, at least for us, having no updates and gigs. Well here you go! Once again, welcome to all the newbies!

On September 5, the Out of Body Special will be at:
1. Lyceum University in Intramuros around 5 or 6pm with Juanlunatec and Astrojuan! (not juan, not two...)
2. Cubao X for Duster's Gucci Gang Video Launch with Bambu Spliff, Pinkcow, Brigada, Clockwork Spiral, Playphonics, Gaijin, Hilera, Techy Romantics and of course, Duster!

Those are the bookings for this week. Remember that we're still working on songs for our second album so we won't get to do shows as much as we used to for the time being so do check those two out! 

On the subject of song-writing, we already have four tracks in the works! That's about a third or fourth of the LP done! Not sure if they're sea-worthy just yet but watch out for them! Before that, we'd like you to take this poll on our management's website (and take the other polls as well, they're pretty fun!) to help us build the album: http://mavenentertainment.net/obs/poll/

We're seriously late working on the second album! So we're really gonna have to cool off from the gigs! But we have one last show before we go! Come down to Route 196 @ Katipunan Extension tomorrow night, July 14! We have a benefit, and I hear the lineup is pretty awesome! Huling hirit na po, and it's back to the lab for us, hope you can make it!

By the way, if you just wanna hang out and you're free on July 15, TMac and I have an event @ Magnet High Street called Wax-On Wednesdays! Music from and inspired by the Motown Era with DJ's Switchtrik and Captain Midnight! Vinyl-spun, old school-like! With a live performance by Juan Pablo Dream! And to all emcees, join the Mikrophone Club freestyle session! FREE ENTRANCE so you can't miss this one! Incidentally, I'm turning 25 that day so it'd be great if you help me celebrate! Show starts @ 10, see you there!
