So I was flipping through Connections Magazine like I do every month looking for where my ad was placed and if My shows are listed in the back and found this! It really made my night. Seriously I really do try my best!

Bands: Just a few things
   A band is a Business. You really need to sell yourself as a valuable asset. If you are playing shows and there is NOBODY there watching you, you most likely need to re-evaluate what you are doing.
  General rule that all bands should follow: 1 would be to promote yourself with stuff like flyers and posters. You REALLY need to get the word out that you are playing a show. Use myspace as a tool to promote, not just take stupid angle pictures of yourself while playing death metal songs in your mothers living room (not very professional). Don't play Back to Back shows. That is a big NO NO in the local scene. ALL VENUES look very down on that. When you do too many shows in a short time in same area, your fans will not show up as much to your shows, if at all. You may think, well half will go to one show and some to the other, but when you end up having 2 bad drawing shows neither venue will be thrilled having you back. Ideal schedule would be no more than twice a month in the area, every other weekend.

   Here at Holly and Dolly's - HoDo LIVE we are one of the VERY few that at least gaurantees pay and a few pitchers of beer. We give your fans FREE COVER, FREE PARKING and is located close to nearly everything. Why wouldn't your fans want to come to your show. AND unlike other venues, we supply good quality sound, lights, decent stage AND DON'T Charge the bands for it.
   Every week I make posters and flyers for the shows, if you can't make your own, use mine. I do everything in my power to promte your shows but I need you to try just as hard. Bands that repeatedly play and bring nobody will not play anymore here. Don't take that wrong either, I know every band has bad nights, but constant bad turn-outs is not good. If you showed up at work every day and didn't do your job, what do you think would happen?
   I am a strong supporter of Local Music and want to keep the scene alive. So just promote yourself and don't over play. More people equals more $$$

Man Versus Machine: The Metaphor

So I sit here thinking. I've watched pretty much all the movies like Terminator (movie & series), The Matrix, Aeon Flux (series), even as far as Resident Evil. The trend on these movies are basically very similar. Machines enslaving the Human race, or corporations making us into blood hungry mindless zombies. I want who ever reads this to actually look for the hidden messages in these movies & think about it. Is it REALLY that far from reality? I feel that corporations and machines have enslaved us already. Have any of you tried living without your Machine for a day or a week or MORE? How would it change you? Would you feel "Out of The Loop", Lost?, confused? A great Example; Cellphone, everybody has to have one or else you are pretty much like the stinky foreign kid in the corner of the classroom. Nobody can communicate with you or wants to come over. Turn the Television on, there is more mind binding propaganda. Notice how nearly EVERY commercial break has one or more Cellphone commercials. They give you every excuse WHY you should have one, even NOW they give BUY ONE get 5 FREE deals!! With BINDING CONTRACTS!! TV shows saying what trends you must follow or else you're a horrible part of society, buy expensive name brand, and LOOK PERFECT. More control that Corporations and Machines have over us. NOW pretty much ANY decent paying job requires you to have a Computer. Try living without one of those also. Think about living without any of your "Machines" at all. Now the same motives for The Corporate Machine; you are born into the world, grow old enough to control your own motor skills, like walking and talking. From there on you are schooled for 13yrs on how to work for The Corporate Machine most effectively, then trained to PAY for further education to make you more efficient for the machine. Then you pretty much spend the rest of your life working for the machine just to make enough money to get you back everyday to it. Till you are too old and inefficient to work and forced into retirement to spend the rest of your short life wondering what you could've done better or changed to make a better life. Some people say all you need is LOVE, and that is the answer. Great answer but not the solution. The corporate machine and money issues are so stressing, divorce rates are skyrocketing to super high percentages! More and more people these days don't even get married because they are stuck with high paced jobs that leave them no time for a commitment like that, or find side action through other sources. Valentines Day is a great "LOVE" example. Corporate Holiday that says "Spend LOTS of Money" on your loved one or ELSE they will hate you and are a complete SMUCK! No matter if you buy them small "I love you" items every other day of the year, if you don't buy "Diamonds or WAY overpriced Flowers" you are a smuck. How many Kids do you see outside playing these days also? Not NEAR as much as 10yrs ago, WHY? Videogames! Why go out and Skateboard when you can be Tony Hawk on a Playstation! And Train us how to Kill ! Now a newer threat is out, Energy Drinks! Ya! Keep us awake and full of energy so we can work longer, faster, and efficiently!!  4.8BILLOIN Dollar industry last year! Everyday we are told to do something or else. Even the church is a corporation, the very place that is your link to GOD and the afterlife. They brain wash people to do exactly what they want, and Give 15% of your income. They are the CLOSE SECOND biggest industry in Florida only being topped by TOURISM. And if you don't follow the rules, YOU burn in hell! Some even have STARBUCKS in them! They preach of forgiveness, but FAR from practice what they preach. They are usually the first to "cast a stone". In the perfect corporate world we could be cloned and programmed to do our job for nothing then die just to be replace by your self over and over again, basically machines without souls or conscience. The Machine has won.

…..Follow the herd. Do as you are told.
