NeoMedia Adds to Motorola, Nokia, Sony-Ericsson Phones Running Direct-to-Web qode®
http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/061102/20061102005639.html
In addition to qode® being fully functional on the Symbian™ OS for Nokia handsets, NeoMedia Technologies' rollout of Java® is currently underway.
Unlike today's computer industry of writing software for one or two operating systems, mobile phones have a more competitive landscape. qode® supported operating environments include: Java®, Symbian™ (Nokia Series 60 and UIQ), Palm OS®, Windows Mobile™ (Pocket PC™), and BREW.
Currently, qode® supports over 270 mobile handsets, including 22 mobile handset manufacturers. To see a list of supported handsets, please visit the link below:

Now that you've checked out the qode Myspace website, you are probably asking yourself, what in the world is qode®?!?
Where did this free cell phone application come from, and most importantly, what does it do?
Before we get into the specifics, lets imagine for a second you are at your local Blockbuster video trying to pick out an interesting movie that your date later that night will enjoy watching. You've narrowed it down to two potential DVDs, but would like a little bit more information about the movie. What if you could watch each movie's trailer on your cell phone to compare which one will be the most entertaining.
Sounds a little far fetched, right?
Surprisingly, it is a lot easier than you may think. Simply connect to the mobile Internet on your cell phone, open the qode® application, and then using your camera phone, take a picture of the barcode on the back of the DVD. Your qode® application will capture the barcode and automatically link you to that movie's online mobile website. From there, you can watch the trailer directly on your cell phone screen.
If that's not impressive enough, try this one on for size.
Lets say you are at the grocery store doing your weekly shopping. You stop to grab a tube of toothpaste and wonder if there are any mobile coupons available this week. So you grab your cell phone, connect to the mobile Internet, and launch your qode® application.
Before we go any further, keep in mind that qode® is fully functional:
1. You can of course take a picture of the barcode on the back of the tube of toothpaste with your qode®reader.
2. If your phone doesn't have a camera, you can manually type the barcode number into your qode®window.
3. Or best yet, you can simply type the product's brand name (Crest, for example) into your qode®window, which will directly connect you to that product's mobile website.
Once you are connected, you can check to see if there are any coupons available for free download to your phone. If there is one available, download the coupon, which will now display on your cell phone screen and present it to the checker in order to save money on your purchase.
Now, if you are still not convinced ... How about this ...
You are in the mood for some delicious Starbucks coffee and would like to see if there are any mobile coupons available for free download to your phone. You know the routine: take out your cell phone, connect to the mobile Internet, and launch your qode® application. In the qode window, simply type the word Starbucks and click go. Your qode® application will automatically connect you to Starbucks mobile website where you can check to see if they have any mobile coupons available.
In order to better demonstrate, we have setup a qode® demo on our website that you can go to and test out: qode® demo
Once there, simply type Starbucks and see what happens.
Lets say you are on the go and you're curious about movie showtimes in your area? Easy, type Movie into the qode®window and it will automatically connect you to Yahoo's mobile movie website where you can search for movies playing in your area and find out showtimes.
Need to know the weather? Type Weather in your qode®window.
No need to type in long mobile website addresses, or use a search engine to look up information. qode® connects you directly and takes you exactly where you want to go ... "One click to content"
These are just a few of the many unique features that qode® has to offer.
We appreciate your help and support as we test and trial this pilot soft launch of qode®. Hard launch soon to follow. For more information, please visit: qode.com
Wireless carrier charges may apply for mobile Internet access (i.e. Cingular, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc). NeoMedia does not charge a fee. The qode® application is completely free :)
