Wassup drunks?
I'm just writing to keep everyone informed as to the current status of the Mad Laughter machine. This is the first year in a long time that Mad Laughter has not played a New Year's Eve show. We are taking a couple of months off from playing shows so we can concentrate our efforts on writing and possibly recording some new original material we've been working on. It's difficult to play out every weekend and then try to make it to practice full of fresh ideas. We're usually beat down tired, drunk or a combination of both.
We're also going to work on a couple new cover tunes that have been suggested by you, the drunken fan base. We're not gonna tell you what those are just yet.
If you have any additional suggestions on what songs you'd like to hear Mad Laughter play, keep sending them in.
If we like it too, we'll try to cover it (always giving the fans what they want).
Also, please keep sending those drunken photos while wearing you Mad Laughter shirts. I hope to have a album dedicated to that soon and some of the best may be used in an upcoming CD insert
So, don't worry, your alcoholic super-heroes will be back soon!

Stay drunk,
-Lee-

Thanks to all the drunks that came out to our show last Saturday in West Allis.
It was good to see the familiar faces and some new ones. And especially all the local musicians that came out to show their support and to get drunk with us. That's always cool to see.... no egos, no attitudes, no assholes. Just a buncha drunks coming out to have a good time.
Thank you to the venue, Smokin' Joe's for having us and to to the group Contagious for putting on a great show too. It's been a long time since we played a show with those guys and it was still a good boozin' time. Make sure you go over to their page and show 'em some love.
Sales of our CD, "The Shined" and our t-shirts continue to be strong. Thanks to all who made purchases Saturday. The extra income is always a bonus (it costs money to put on a good show) and it really gets the band fired up when we can look into the crowd and see a bunch of beer-soaked Mad Laughter shirts. The support is always appreciated!
Keep sending those show pictures in, I'll post what I can.
And I want to see pictures of you.. the drunk fan wearing your Mad Laughter shirt. Take a picture wearing your shirt near a landmark, at the bar, while at rehab, near a bum, while filming a porn, etc.
I'll post the best and most creative pictures!
Finally, we are still booking our fall / winter schedule any bands that would like to be part of a Mad Laughter show (or would like us to be part of your show), contact us. Any bars or venues interested in having Mad Laughter play, contact us.
Later,
-Lee-

Just cleaning out the camera and I noticed quite a few photos from our New Year's show with Reason and Cobalt Fur. I've posted only the rated PG pictures. (You know it got pretty fucked up that night). As usual, keep sending me any pictures that you might have taken. I always like to see the show from a different drunk's perspective,
Stay drunk,

Current mood:  drained
Hello again drunks.
It's Lee. Just writing a quick little blog about last Friday's show at Liquor Sweets in Milwaukee.
This was our debut show at Liquor Sweets so I wanted to bring a few friends along. The show was set to be a party with a line-up containing Tattooed Bruise, Beerfish and Mad Laughter you knew you were gonna have a good time as soon as you walked in the door.
We loaded in around 6 p.m. in and it was still 85 degrees outside. Our roadies and photographer couldn't make it to this show ( I assume they were all at Pride Fest) so, we had some work to do. After loading (and sweating), we set up our gear and got aquainted with the new venue.
For those of you who may not have been to this bar yet, make it down here. It's a great venue with plenty of room and great atmosphere.
Tattooed Bruise was the first band up for the night and if you have ever seen these guys before you'll know they are far from your typical opening band. They are talented and energetic musicians who normally play headlining spots at their own shows (We've exchanged opening / headling spots with these guys for years). So once I confirmed them on the bill, I knew we would be starting off on the right foot. They've recently gone through some line-up changes and added a new singer and drummer. The last show we played with them was at Yester Years and at that time, the singer was a little sick so, I didn't really get a chance to hear his true talent. Friday though, he was right on. Good crowd interaction, good sound and good stage prescence. A very tight performance from the whole band. They pounded through their set and really got the crowd in to their show.
Opening a show is difficult because you have to take people from mellow to hyped in a short period of time, This was no problem for the Tattooed Bruise crew and I thank them again for playing the show with us. Make sure you stop by their MySpace page and show them some love.
Next up was the band Beerfish. These guys have played a few shows with us in the past and because of their energetic sound and style, I wanted them there on Friday too.
There was a little delay in the tear-down and set-up so Beerfish started a little late. Not a problem though, they picked up right where Tattooed Bruise left off. They took the crowd and kept them going from their first song to their last. I had a couple people ask about them before they started because they didn't know too much about them. I told them to watch the show and they'd be impressed. And they were. A wide selection of cover material that had a little something for everyone was their secret for success. Keep on eye on these guys in the future I expect bigger and better things for them also.
Finally, Mad Laughter hit the stage around midnight. The stage seemed to have been made for a Mad Laughter show. Plenty of room to move, areas to duck out of sight to spot light other members and a good view of the fans in attendance.
Sometimes stage lights don't allow the band to see who is standing right in front of you. If you can't see the crowd, you can't interact with them and that doesn't make for a good show. The crowd was a little light for a typical Mad Laughter show but those that stayed made sure they were part of the action. Right up front yelling for their favorite songs and buying us shots when they could. We got alot of people wanting to hear our newest original "Crushed To Dust" we've only played it live twice but it seems to be a crowd favorite already.
Mike from the band Liquid Steele even climbed up on the stage so he could sing "Indians" with us. How's that for crowd interaction! Thanks for the help Mike. We ripped through our set and got great response from everything we played. Because it was our debut show, we added two songs to our Liquor Sweets setlist "Barracuda" by Heart and "Gods Of Wrath" by Metal Church. Both songs were sung by our friend Heather. She walked up on the stage and was instantly embraced by the Mad Laughter fans. She didn't get to sing a note and already she the crowd going crazy. Impressive! She worked the crowd like a true professional and gave everyone in attendance a chance to see the true versatility of the band. When the idea of adding these song to the set list was brought up in practice I said, why not. Only Mad Laughter can pull something off like this. (I'd like to think we pulled it off nicely).
Overall, it was a good show. The crowd was treated to a great mix of music by three of Milwaukee's best bands at a great venue.
Thanks to Ian at Liquor Sweets for the show. The in-house sound and lights were terrific. Your sound engineer was very professional also.
Thanks again to Tattooed Bruise, Beerfish and all the drunks in attendance for being part of the evening.

Stay Drunk,
-Lee-

P.S. Our photographer was unavailable to attend this show so, if anyone has any pictures from this show send them in! I'll be sure to post them.
Thanks.

Current mood:  exhausted
Greetings drunks.
I hope you've all recovered from the show last Saturday at Smokin' Joe's in West Allis, WI. It was an adventure and it almost didn't happen.
I'll start at the beginning...Saturday afternoon, hours before the show. Tony and I had just recently picked up some drum microphones and had decided to stop for lunch at one of our favorite places. We ate and then went to start loading equipment at Matt's. Before we could get started, Tony said he just wasn't feeling hot so he wasn't going to help load equipment and had to go home. I thought Tony was being a lazy bitch but I later learned Tony had a touch of food poisoning.
We had arrived at the bar and started setting up equipment. Still no sign of Tony. This was odd but we had enough work to do. Roadies were busy and the Beerfish crew even helped us by setting up and sound checking the drum kit. (Much appreciated)!
No Tony yet. But that was alright, we had a great opening act, Beerfish. They took the stage and brought the rock to a new crowd. In case you've never seen these guys, they play some sweet covers that you're not gonna hear everyday. Each tune has a Beerfish twist and the crowd really appreciated them. Hell, they even had two girls slamming to their rendition of Seargent D by S.O.D. Yes, only the girls were on the floor. No guys. Even though they were loving the show from the bar.
Meanwhile, Tony had called my cell and informed me that he was feeling pretty rough but would try to make it to play the show. (I'll spare you the details of food poisoning but trust me, you don't want it.) He arrived minutes before we were scheduled to hit the stage, carrying a bucket and looking pretty weak.
Beerfish wrapped up their set and Mad Laughter took to the stage. The energy level was very high and the place was packed. This was our first show at Smokin' Joe's and we didn't know what to expect. The crowd was full of Mad Laughter regular drunks and a few new faces. Alot of women showed up and weren't afraid to get up to the stage and rock out with the boys. We played a solid set of Mad Laughter originals and covers to a captive audience. It was my wife Brenda's birthday so she got a special rendition of the tune "Happy Birthday" Mad Laughter style. Hell, we even had one guy, who we'll call "The West Allis Leprechaun", slam a bottle of Jack Daniels and then do the worm across the dance floor. Only at a Mad Laughter show!!
It was a great night for both bands and a great debut for Mad Laughter at this new venue. I'm sure our drunks showed Joe's what drinkin' is all about. Thanks to all that attended the show and thanks to the crew at Smokin' Joe's for having us.
Make sure you check out Tony's Myspace site and let him know what a little trooper he was for hanging in there.

Stay drunk,
-Lee-

Current mood:  busy
Category: Music

 Greetings drunks.
Sorry it took so long to get a new blog up but I've been pretty busy and besides, I didn't remember that much from the last show anyway. I was loaded.
Thanks to everyone that sent in their pictures. Some of them have been posted on our website, www.mad-laughter.com. Continue to send those pictures in.
Anyway, back to our June 16th show in Cudahy, WI at Uptown Mo's. Starting the night off were our friends, The Dead Morticians. As usual, they put on a great set and brought a few new faces to the show. They've got a good fan base and it's easy to see why it's growing all the time, great music and good crowd interaction. This was our first show with these guys since New Year's Eve because Rich, of the Morticians, recently had hip surgery (he's 80 years old). It was good to have them back in front of a crowd with us. Feel free to check out their Myspace site and let Rich know you're glad to have him back on the scene with us.
The next band up that night was Beerfish. This was our first show with these guys and it won't be our last! I saw them play a show a few months ago and I knew right away they would fit in fine with a booze-lovin' Mad Laughter crowd. Their mix of classic and current rock favorites had their fans fired up. A medly of Black Sabbath helped them win the crowd. I'd have to say my favorite was their version of "Sargeant D and the S.O.D." . Hell, you just don't hear that one anymore. They had me and the boys from The Dead Morticians singin' along to that little ditty.
The energy level was still high thanks to those two great openers and now, it was time for Mad Laughter to hit the stage. We started our set and instantly the crowd  moved right up to the area where we were playing. That let me know that the people who are there came to see us and they don't want to miss a thing. After a brief power glitch caused by alot of amps and lights wired into an old bar, our show continued. The fans in attendance were calling out the songs they wanted to hear. There were a few old school fans that wanted to hear their favorite Mad Laughter originals and when they were played, they sang along to every word (I can't get enough of that). When we played our version of "Indians" by Anthrax, the place went crazy! Everyone got near a microphone and helped sing the chorus. Paul from Beerfish even stayed up and sang some Slayer with us (Great job man! You're welcome on our stage anytime).
I got loaded, all the bands had a great time and thanks to all the drink-specials, the people in attendance got thoroughly shit-faced too.
Mission accomplished.
Thanks again to Brad and Lisa from Uptown Mo's, The Dead Morticians and Beerfish for their help putting on a great show! I can't wait to do it again.
Stay drunk,
-Lee-

Blog time again kids. This is the part of the week where I share my recent show experiences with you, the Mad Laughter fans. (Drunks with computer access).
Last Saturday, we played a show in Greenfield, WI at The Fatboy Roadhouse. We've played here before and were ready for a good time because, we were playing with some our friends, Tattooed Bruise.
We've played a handful of shows with this group and there is always a good blend of styles between us. Both bands can draw pretty well at any local show so, we take turns headlining and opening for each other. This night we took the opening spot.
We arrived early and started to set up. We had it pretty easy this time, we were sharing alot of equipment and, we didn't have to supply the lights or sound. This helped free up some time for me to get to the bar.
We started our set and had some fans rocking after the first few songs. A few folks in the back seemed a little confused but, we hooked them in with a Mad laughter renditition of Voodoo Chile by Jimi Hendrix. Soon, everybody was into the show and having a good time. A few shouts for "Slayer" could be heard so, we had to oblige. The Slayer tunes were a hit, as they always are. We mixed in a few originals and even had time for a requested Sabbath encore. We finished our set and had the crowd ready for the next act.
As, I watched Tattooed Bruise set up, one of the bar patrons asked "why aren't you guys famous yet?" I told him thanks for the compliment and, I didn't know the answer.
Like every semi-professional band, we send our promo kits out, advertise like crazy and, abuse the internet. All with hopes of getting signed and hitting it big. I've been asked that question before but, I still don't know the answer. I guess as long as everyone has a good time and, you know you put on a good performance, you're on the right track. So, keep spreading the word for us local drunks and I'll keep playing.
Tattooed Bruise played their set of covers mixed with originals and received good response from the people there.  The bar thinned out a little but, the people that stayed were the only one's that mattered. They were the die-hard fans. They were fired up and, wanted to hear some Pantera. Tattooed Bruise ripped into "Walk" and the the metalheads were pleased. Including myself, who came straight from the bar to help sing a few lines.
I had a good time playing the early time slot. After our set,  I went to the bar and had a few shots with some fans and, a few of the members of Fallout and Black Crossroad (two very good local bands).
The drinks were flowing and the music was good. What more can you ask out of a night than that? (Maybe to get laid but, that's another story.) We signed a CD, took some pictures with fans and, got good feedback from the night's performance.
Overall, I say it was a good time.
Thanks to Lisa and The Fatboy Roadhouse for having us. And, thanks to Tattooed Bruise for another great show.

Stay drunk,
-Lee-

Current mood:  optimistic

Mad Laughter is currently looking for a Sign-Girl.
If you've ever been to a Mad laughter show, you've seen our Sign-Girls. They hold signs with the name of each song we play (kinda like a ring girl in boxing). It's a paying gig (low paying that is) and, you'll get the satisfaction of knowing you've helped entertain drunks that probably can't read the signs anymore.
As for qualifications, there aren't many.

You must have an out-going personality. This gig is 90% fun and 10% alcoholism. (Or, vice-versa)

You must like drinking.
Many fans will be buying you drinks at the show and, it's rude not to accept free booze. (This is why we are currently without a Sign-Girl. They are all in rehab).

You must be attractive. (Or at least attractive to a captive bunch of drunks).
All our Sign Girls are of the highest caliber.

Remember, you will be a representative for Mad Laughter. You will get drunk, have your picture taken, sign t-shirts, and, draw on passed out drunks just like Mad Laughter.
If you are interested in applying for this position (and who wouldn't). Feel free to leave a comment below, contact us through our website www.mad-laughter.com or, come down to a show early.
