The guys and I have decided to open our little indie hearts to the Spanish sun in May 2010 for Primavera Festival! This one-off Bis reunion in Barcelona (unless we get offered wads of cash to do more of course!) will be alongside Pavement, Pixies, the Fall, and many other great bands. Bis played Primavera quite a few years ago, and it’s where I got to meet the lovely Jarvis Cocker! Come join us for a few days if you can!

Make sure you check out this new Glasgow band Ace City Racers. They’re recording with Stephen Street very shortly and also playing the 13th Note in Glasgow on 28th November with Futuristic Retro Champions. I think they’re going to do very well!

The photoshoot I did in Princes Square recently with 21 other “style icons” (ha!) will feature in the Scottish Sunday Herald this coming weekend. Should be an interesting piece so looking forward to it myself! I’ll post it on here for the non-Scots and non-paper buyers.

I mentioned this briefly at the time, but I thought I better explain more about it seeing as I’ll be talking about New York very shortly!
I’m a competition freak as some of you might know. Since I was wee, I’ve been entering every competition I can (and my parent’s have made me!), especially drawing ones. I’ve won a bike (nice Raleigh Apple!), zoo tickets, Boots vouchers, a blackboard, Jolly Giant Toy shop vouchers (3 times in a row designing a birthday card!) etc etc. So, my fave girlie style mag Star Magazine had a competition that I entered at the end of last year to win a 3 night trip to New York, staying in a 4 star hotel, $250 spending money and a helicopter trip. I sent an email to enter and I was chosen with 3 other girls as finalists to compete for this prize. We were each given a new Samsung camera phone to take as many crazy/cool pics as we could over the next 4 weeks. So, I had a massive challenge, and all I could think about was ideas for these pics and getting my pals to help! The ideas I came up with were pretty daft, and I even researched what bands were in town to see if I could get some “me with famous people” ones which are always loved by mags like that. Seeing that the Mighty Boosh were in town that month gave me a good one for my list. I submitted my pics every week for 4 weeks as requested, then found out at the end that I’d won! I was soooooo happy and was screaming with happiness down the phone to them! I go at the start of October, and haven’t been to New York for ages so very much looking forward to it. This is also the first time that I’ll be there not doing band stuff, and the first time my boyfriend’s been at all so will be great. Just thought I should explain all this weirdness so you understand why I’m there! Oh I love competitions!

I’m doing a photoshoot next week for the Glasgow Herald. It’s to celebrate the 21st birthday of Princes Square, and I’m one of Glasgow’s 21 “style icons”! Should be fun and I’ll get the double page piece/online coverage on here when it’s ready.

Had a wonderful 2nd day in Tokyo so far. Met with Uutwo Records for a gorgeous Japanese lunch. She also gave me one of the Manda Rin totes they got made for the gig. Well cool! After a good bit of shopping a lady stopped me in the street asking for a photo of my hair from the front, side and back for her portfolio. What a funny day!
