Hey guys..

My 6th album project "Yoga at Home Vol. 1" will be available on iTunes, Amazon, etc etc on August 1. I am very excited about this project. It is an Ep featuring Sadat X, Reef the Lost Cauze, Von Pea, Kay of the Foundation and some of the undergrounds most talented up and coming emcees. (I know.... I mention it whenever I can tho!) CDs will be available here.

Anyway..

In the spirit of celebration... I am uploading instrumentals from the 2006 dumhi album "They Call Me Bruce". Emcees..if you like something.. g'head... use it. Throw it on your mixtapes, your myspace, post it here.. whatever. Only thing I ask is that you make sure to throw 'prod by haj of dumhi' on it.

Beat heads...bob your head to it. Ladies.. rub onya ti..erhrmhrm..

If you like something.. let me know.

If you dont like anything..

I'm sorry.

But yeah.. the first batch of beats is in a link below. You will need winrar to open the file and then you'll be good. If you need help with winrar ask.. it is real quick & easy.

Embrace technology.

Another batch will be up next Tuesday July 22.

And don't forget.. Yoga Aug. 1!

Thanks guys..

**EDIT**

Its Tuesday.. Bacth 2 is up... Hope you enjoy!

Peace

Yoga At Home v.1

Dumhi and producer Haji Rana Pinya present.. Yoga At Home v.1.

With a tentative release date of June 24th, Yoga At Home v. 1 is the first in a series of Ep's which feature Haj's sample heavy beats, along with some of hiphop underground's most exciting new artists. Master Swami Vishnu, a legendary yoga instructor and spiritual guru in his own right, hosts the Ep and uses the extended metaphor of home yoga techniques to celebrate the benefits of all therapeutic practices which can be performed in perfect solitude. Whether you find spiritual awakening through exercise, meditation, music, art, or even the funky mystic buddha leaf.. chances are you will be able to relate to Master Vishnu's instruction and follow him along the path of enlightenment.

Joining Master Vishnu and Haj are some of hiphop's brightest rising stars. Che Grand drops by to work through some Sun Exercises; Reef the Lost Cauze and Von Pea of Tanya Morgan share some breathing techniques which they have found beneficial; and Doap Nixon of Army of the Pharaohs fame offers some rather untraditional methods of relaxation. With hiphop legend Sadat X (Brand Nubian) providing the Yoga At Home Theme Song, Yoga At Home v.1 promises to be a wonderful alternative for fans seeking music a bit to the left of the norm.

Keep checking in as all this month I will be previewing songs from the project. Last week I previewed Von Pea's Breathing Techniques. This week Kay of the Foundation and Soulbrotha check in with Go Left.

Enjoy!

Winners!

Grand Prize - ApexOne of Austell GA

Apex of course wins the EXCLUSIVE dumhiPod. A shuffle filled with basically everything I have ever done that doesn't suck and more than a couple things that I have done which does suck. It has ShamelessPlug, RandomBeats, MashComp, TanyaMorgan, Flud, CheGrand, InsightclopediaBrown, Reef The Lost Cauze, VexBlizzy, NY Oil, Signifire, Jermiside, and a ton of talented artists you prolly don't hear enough of unless you get this newsletter. Hopefully he doesnt plug this thing into his computer and wipe out all this music with that Apple self synch crap.

BUT JUST IN CASE HE DOES.... Apex also will receive the dumhi cd prizepack but I'm going to tell you about that in minute so I have something fun to say after the other winners are announced.

Other winners...
Marcel H of Alexandria VA
Paul H of Charlottesville VA
Fallon G of BuddLake NJ

Yall win the dumhi cd prize pack which includes...

Dumhi - They Call Me Bruce (2006)
Dumhi- 3 Seats from Heaven (2007)
Fermented Spirits- Demystification (2008)
Yoga At Home v.1 (As soon as I get a copy.. YOU get a copy!)

I also am going to squeeze in some extra stuff. I believe I can come up with a couple copies of Reef the Lost Cauze's new I Am Legend mixtape and maybe a Nico cd or two. I have some copies of Signifire's 'Yellow Lense', Rahm Nation's 'Dilla Project', and perhaps a SoleVibe mix-cd or two left on the shelf.

Thanks again to everyone who entered and definitely stay tuned for more chances to win things. Whatever they might be.

Tons of Indie HipHop Released

Last couple of weeks have been fantastic for indie music heads. Here is a quick list of some albums whcih dropped recently...

1. Reef the Lost Cauze - I Am Legend
Of course I was gonna mention this! It does include 'Squeeze', which i sproduced by ME and is the first single from 'Yoga At Home'. This mixtape is a great way for people unfamiliar with Reef to get familiar with him. He is a monster. And for fans of Reef, it's just something to hold us over until 'A Vicious Cycle' comes out sometime during my golden years. Nah I'm buggin.. hopefully this Fall!

The mixtape is available in stores and on quilts all through Philly and of course at www.myspace.com/reefthelostcauze

2. Nico The Beast - No Beast So Fierce
Nico is the man. The other night he says to me "Yo cuz" (<--South Philly) "Whats good with the contest? I have eight entries. What did I win?" Then he pulled 8 flyers out his back pocket.

Meanwhile.. we are all happy he spends all of his time in the studio instead of reading flyers cuz his album bangs. Check out 'Feeding Time' and 'No Games' at his myspace, then head over to cdbaby to cop.

www.myspace.com/nicothebeast

3. TanyaMorgan - The Bridge Ep
How dope is it that all 3 of these releases Ive listed so far are people I am friends with? I know some talented mofos.

Brooklynati is coming. Until then...this is more good new music from Donwill, VonPea, and Ilyas. These guys just don't stop. Go grab this on itunes, amazon, etc etc until the CD is available in June.

www.myspace.com/tanyamorgan

Don't stop here! 9th Wonder/ Buckshot, Blu/ Taraach, The Roots, Portishead (if you're into that sort of thing).... lots of new music. Go get something new and ride around with the windows down, pimp. It's spring.

Last minute...

This was a little long, huh?

Before I hit send and go shower and do several other things that you don't really want to hear about, I want to welcome a good handful of new folks to the newsletter. I send these out about 3 times a month and its just a way to stay in touch with friends, family, and the good people who have been supporting independent arts and dumhi for years. Yall are VERY COOL and all of your energy is appreciated. That said, I know I am on about 25 mailing lists so by all means, if it is too much, let me know and I'll REMOVE YOU FROM MY LIFE FOREVER. Just kidding. Ill take you off the list tho no problem.

In the same regard, it is always appreciated when you tell a friend or have someone send an email to get on this list. When you play a song in your car for your friends and let them know where to find us if they like it. Email your buddy a couple mp3s or burn a cd for your cousin. Little things like that can be huge for artists who do not have the resources to create huge marketing campaigns and promo tours, etc. We see it. THANK YOU!

Oh and... WANT TO JOIN?

Just send an email to dumhi.productions@gmail.com. Easy!

Have a good May folks.See yall in a week or two!

Peace

Saturday, April 19, 2008

Whats good yall?

Do I start all of these newsletters with 'whats good yall'? Seems like it. I need to switch that up.

Serious business first...

Yall know someone with MS? I do. Couple people actually. Here's one...

I've registered for Walk MS because I was diagnosed with MS in 2001. Since that time, I have lost and regained vision in both eyes, experienced numbness in whole sections of my body, and have had to give myself countless injections of medication. I have been very fortunate that MS has only affected me to this extent. There are many people with MS who wind up unable to walk in a very short time, or experience symptoms and problems much worse than my own. I want to do what I can to help raise awareness and funds to fight this disease. -My boy Drew

Please check this site out and Donate with Dumhi. Also, if you donate and send me an email letting me know.. I will send you out some cds or something random from my house. For real.. its a wonderful cause and you can really help make a difference.

Also, don't forget the mixtape release party, this Friday April 25th. Money Folders 3. Reef, Nico the Beast, iLLit, and more. Rumor has it there is going to birthday cake too.

Category: Music

hrmm..

My UPS tracking system tells me that I will be getting Fermented Spirits cds on Monday. That had me thinking.. I have been a pretty busy guy since I began making music. I have basically submerged myself in (at least) one project a year for quite a few years now. It really has made these releases an exciting time of the year for me. Usually have a party, pass around some music, hope someone feels it, and generally enjoy that feeling of accomplishment and pride you get when you set a goal and actually knock it out.

How about a little memory lane....

2004: Pickled Beats Prhaject- Nothign’s Perfect

I printed these in my bedroom man. It was so exciting seeing mad copies of a CD that I actually MADE. Maybe 20 people heard it. I didn’t care. There are at least a couple limited edition CDs floating around with a 15 minute bonus track that has me rapping on three songs. Wow. I took that off of later "pressings".

2005: Dumhi- Vote Dumhi

What a fun spring this was. Dj Afrodijiak was still throwing parties and set up the firt ever dumhi party, an album release happy hour at what was then called World Cafe, in Old City Philly. Basically a disaster. The place was way too nice and expensive for the regular dumhi crowd. The dj didn’t show up leaving Plug and I djing using one cd player and a way too complicated mixer. But people came out and we had a great time.

2006: Dumhi- They Call Me Bruce

I mean.. we dropped this on 4/20. That explains a lot right? Instead of any kind of official party, this time I had the bright idea of a informal happy hours. Yes, HOURS. I organized one in NYC at the wonderful dive bar known as Down The Hatch. I had posters (they wouldnt let me hang them) cds (they wouldnt let me play them) and beer (they couldnt stop me). I ordered a couple big plates of wings.. and people came out. SIMULTANEOUSLY.. Insightclopedia Brown had organized a Happy Hour in Stl and Mash Comp had worked something out in DC. I had hopes for more but.. I still think it was neat that there were several mini parties happening at the same time to celebrate this release.

2007:  Dumhi- 3 Seats from Heaven

This was a tough one. I was trying to have it ready for spring because that is the best time to put out  music. At least for me. The end of year major label rush is over and ppl arent even listening to that garbage they got for xmas anymore... the weather is great AND my birthday is May 1st. Just a good time to party in general. Anyway.. the One Leg At A Time Tour sort of put the release plans on hold. Instead this was ready in Fall ’07. I think with all the shows and parties we had during the year, we weren’t really too tough to party for this release. I was tired of organizing ish and my liver hurt.

2008: Fermented Spirits- Demystification

Soon: Yoga at Home vol. 1

Soon: Dumhi & Haj reintroduce.. The Inklings

I guess the point of all of this is...

I NEED TO HAVE A PARTY THIS SUMMER!

I’m gonna look into it. In fact... let me get cracking with that.

Peace!
