I know its taken forever for the mix to get out, but here it is.  It will be available on Mad Decents Podcast (itunes) next Tuesday November 4th, but if you want a sneak preview follow the link and download :-)

South Rakkas Crew - GOOD LIFEMEGA MIX

Vol. 1 (Hip Hop / Retro-Dancehall)

It's a rare thing to see a South Rakkas live mix availablefor download, so make sure you grab this limited edition.  They call it the Good Life Mega Mix.  You may not know this about South Rakkas Crewbut they can go out on any given night and drop a Hip Hop set, a Dancehall set,an Electro set, or even a House set. They're just versatile like that. This mix was a request from Good life Clothing's Glasgow, Scotland store(www.goodlifestore.co.uk ).  The guys at Good Life recruited graphicartist Will Bankhead to design the cover and a limited edition SRC T-Shirt tocommemorate the release. The mix is full of old and new school Hip Hop,Retro-Dancehall and South Rakkas originals; mixed and mashed up by South Rakkasown DJ Dow Jones, and toasted by MC, Mr. Agony. It's dirty and raw.  Sorry noElectro on this one.  Dow Jones explains,"There's just too much good music and not enough time."  That's why this is a first in a series ofGood Life Mega Mixes; each one focusing on a different genre of music."

Hey PPL,

So we just completed a DJ Shadow remix last week.  I will post it as soon as I get the release date from his label, so watch out.

I just got myself this new DJ mixer called an MK2 and DJ software called Virtual DJ.  It's pretty cool.  Check out a video of me messin' around with it on my page.  Just getting my DJ skillz back up to par for the touring we plan to do 2007 it's been a long time.  Last time I DJ'd it was turntables and vinyls only.  Alex G and myself are going to step out of the studio and hit the road with Ninja Kid, new artist Sandy Smith, and perhaps Geefus from 'Stone Love' EM Ceeing.  If you see him tell him get with it.  We plan to blaze up the place.  We have been producing for all these years and we never get to see the people enjoying what we do, so we want to bring it to dem.  We want to hit Europe first; so if there are any promoters out there that want us to come through with the crew hit me up.  Lets talk.

Dow Jones

We recently released a mix CD in Japan.  I just put up a few more clips from the CD including some exclusive productions and remixes.  Check them out.  I am having problems hearing the new clips.  I am going to give it another day then try to upload them again.  In the mean time you can hear them at http://www.southrakkascrew.moonfruit.com/latestnews .

For those promoters and DJs requesting a show; we will start booking within the next few weeks.  We will be touring in Europe during the first few months of 2007.  Hit me up!

Stardate 09/14/06

Ok, here we go - second log.  This will be a real short one.

We have been getting a lot of emails regarding the 'Crack Whore Riddim'.  The Crack Whore Riddim isn't actually a juggling ting. Meaning we did not record other artists on this instrumental.  This is a one off for Lily Allen and it's more for a UK jump up vibe.  Sorry if calling this remix a riddim is confusing people.

Hey PPL, welcome to Rakkas World. This is my first blog entry. Stardate 09/11/06.

I promised my crew that I would start writing a blog. They said there are people out there that want to hear what we have to say. ????.

If you are looking for answers that you think other people want to know from us, then email them to me and I will answer them here, in the RAKKAS WORLD BLOG. Over the next several weeks I will be posting musical excerpts from our recent Japanese release 'Rakkas World' (World Riddim Cup). This is a DJ mix CD containing only South Rakkas material. This is the first and only mix CD done by South Rakkas Crew. It shows our DJ skillz with over 75 tracks mixed by yours truly, Dow Jones along side Alex G. We represented Canada with this release, even though we are based in Orlando now. Special shout out to the (905) and the (416). The MCs (talkover Dee Jaying) featured are Geefus from the immortal 'Stone Love' out of Kingston, Jamaica: Bigga Boss from 'Tripple Crown Promotions' out of Toronto, Canada: and MC Chinatsu from 'Swinger' out of Tokyo, Japan. Yes, South Rakkas Crew is stepping into the DJ relm. Expect to see us touring your city in the near future.

The next item up for bid is our remix of Lily Allen's, 'LDN'. This is our most recent remix project, which we rushed out the box so that it could debute at the Knottingham Carnival in the UK. We titled the remix 'Crack Whore Riddim'. We chopped it up, tricked it out, AND put it in reverse. For all of you who don't know, Lily Allen is the number 1 artist in the UK right now. So far everyone is loving it, and we have been getting great feedback. Today I saw a post in a forum from Australia. I guess some of our more hardcore Dancehall fans are asking if we've lost our minds (LOL). Well, yes we have lost our minds but besides that; some people don't want to see us doing anything more than Dancehall. Please remember why you loved us in the first place, because our production is different. It's all about stepping out the box and doing new shitz. Anyways if you really take a listen to this remix, it's all South Rakkas, keep an open mind. If it's not your thing cool - like Bob Marley said, "...you can't please all the people all of the time."

Don't worry you will be hearing more of the classic SRC sound in the future.

Hmmm.. what else?
South Rakkas is working on it's first artist album. You heard it here first. Her name is Sandy Smith straight outta yawd (Kingston, Jamaica). She is here with us now in Orlando and we have begun writing songs. Di album ya aguh wicked. Watch for sneak previews.

That's about it for now.

Bless,

Dow Jones
