Current mood: nervous
This is utterly childish, but perhaps if I wish in three different places, the following will come true: 1) I will see her soon. 2) I will get lots of students this semester. 3) The results of tomorrow's surgery will be favorable, if not all-out fantastic. There. *cuts teh caek*
Also: for those of you who for some reason have decided to torture your ears with "Lonely Day," you've witnessed the results of what to me was a very personal, very complex, and very important project. Thanks of course are in need for SoaD and their brilliant writing ("only an Armenian would write 'the most loneliest day' quipped my friend in Baltimore), and also for my having enough fondness for someone that I'd go to such insane lengths in the hopes I might show her I'm not a complete musical dolt. XD All that aside, there may or may not be more to come, depending on public reactions. There are a couple more of the like set aside, but more likely than not, I'll be getting back to some more orchestral writing shortly. We'll see =D Cheers. Peace. Heroin. (not rly)

A new orchestral original has been posted to replace the loooooooooooong-outdated piece "The Rage," which can still be obtained at my website if for some reason one desires it. The new piece is a theme for a game character named Sara, and was written for a friend. Enjoy.

A couple things of note yesterday (would've been "today," save for Gaia's Journal Maintenance keeping this from being posted at the appropriate time), besides m0wing the lawn, which was far kewler than it usually is XD ...
"Dear Dan, I would like to thank you for your recent submissions, including "Journey From Solitude" and the other selections on the audio CD that was included in your package. The works all had a very unique quality to them and the production on them was outstanding, especially the initial track."
In my Hotmail, of all places...from FJH Publishing, to whom I submitted an orchestral score and some additional recordings like..last year. This was completely unexpected, and while the tail end was your typical "not enough room in our catalog to add right now" rejection letter, the first part was actually...inspiring.
This came right upon the heels of beating Final Fantasy 8 for the third time, and the first in years. It always has a deeply emotional impact on me, because..it's elegant and beautiful; a completely tear-jerking (I was going to simply say "epic," but that doesn't do it justice) marriage of images and music. It hit me--to say the least--a lot harder this time around, and I pretty much enjoyed a good 30-40 minute sob (mostly quiet, thank the gods) both during and afterward.
And it was good. And it made me think, and daydream about being like Squall Lionheart...afraid of becoming attached to depending on people to be there, then slowly coming to anyway, and in a twist of fate..wondering if he's been left alone again, just as he feared might happen. I  Squall, and his gunblade skills, but I don't want to be him. I don't want to constantly fear abandonment, nor do I want to be abandoned.
I'm going to miss everyone deeply while I'm away at Animazement this weekend. It's odd..because..I haven't felt this way in a long time about a group of people, nor about certain people in particular. Can you say 10 years? Because I can...
I think I just did.

Two new original pieces of mine have been posted (no more filler for now...sorry): "Serenity's Call," my first-ever original string quartet piece, and "For A. Rose," an original brass quintet piece written for my sister. Enjoy.

Came back this morning to a surprise: my fourth posted arrangement at ocremix.org. I never expected it to be posted so quickly, and generally, there's never any guarantee it'll be posted at all. I'm most psyched by this, and the fact that I may be going to see a certain fantastic band in Charlotte for my first time on Sunday.

So, my whirlwind trip to Upstate NY and then Baltimore has come to a close. Of course it's happy to be back in one way, and sad in another. The long train ride home brought forth many reminders of days past, and a few tears with them. Lots of work is to come, however, and with it--I hope--many good things.
