Well, after a long and circuitous romp through most of the States and Canada, FM is back in NY and we're all getting settled once again. It hasn't been a flawless trip -- the charity has gone through more than its fair share of trials and tribulations – but it has been an overwhelmingly successful one. The tour kicked off in Pomona, CA with our oversized Darth Vader-esque FM tour bus, 8 cutting-edge technology screenings stations, and the competent, yet, albeit green medical team and a band ready to rock. From this eager group, we were able to scan a stellar 8,000 people over the breadth of over 40 different venues. As would be expected, the first couple of cities were mostly improvisational. Five days in, however, we had solidified our strategy and had picked up considerable momentum. By New Mexico, we were averaging at least 200 people a day and began evoking a decent amount of attention from both passer-bys and Warped Tour rockers alike. The FM bus had become iconic and taken on the same level of recognition as Oscar-Myers' comically phallic wiener-mobile or that thing batman drives. It was all a little surreal. The further into the tour FM went, the more our earlier expectations were confirmed and acted upon. FM's primary goal was to reach a demographic normally unreachable. Not only had we reached this demographic, but we also received an older audience that had been unable to receive health care as a result of the skyrocketing price of medical insurance. Our positive approach to skin cancer included information that emphasized the preventative measures one can take generously provided by Molly's Fund (www.molliesfund.org), a colorful array of free give-aways, and, of course, our skin cancer screening devices. The fluidity with which we handled ourselves after just a couple days has made it apparent that this sort of youth-oriented medium has enormous untapped potential and, above all else, is replicable. This grassroots project can easily become a touchstone for future health care initiatives reaching out to people on a level that speaks to them. As one of the medical representatives for this initiative, I feel an enormous sense of pride not only in the fact that we made something feasible that was said to be infeasible, but that we endured and prevailed. Two broken tour buses and tons of financial setbacks later, FM is still going strong and sees no end in sight. Ezra

"Get On The Bus For Health" 2008
Skin Cancer Screening Equipment Manufacturer
and Charity Use Music and Media to Fight
Skin Cancer in Young People on Van's Warped Tour
FM World Charities is a not-for-profit organization devoted to promoting public health and improving the quality of life in underserved communities throughout the world. FM's goal is to raise awareness through music, media, and medicine. We have teamed up with the Vans Warped Tour to raise awareness about the issue of skincancer. Our medical staff will be providing a free, basic, skin cancer screening to all interested concert attendees. We will be using cutting-edge imaging equipment by Astron Clinica that will be monitored off premise by physicians. Paige Wood, artist and melanoma survivor, will be touring with us andlending a hand with our initiative. Bags will be handed out with information and free gifts.
"Get on the Bus for Health" Project Overview
FM World will travel with the Warped Tour through all 46 cities offering free skin cancer screenings and raising awareness.
Delivery:
We will be taking a wrapped forty-five foot tour bus across the country with four full-time medical representatives and advancing a minimum of eight volunteers in each city to help with our initiative. In each city, we will be parking the bus length-wise flanked by two ten by ten tents that are broken into eight screening stations. This gives us a 65 footprint, making us one of the largest, if not the largest, entity in the sponsor/sales section of the Warped Tour. We will also be handing out gift bags as an incentive for attendees to be screened.
Warped Tour demographics:
The Vans Warped Tour is the nation's longest running concert festival touring series. They soldover one million tickets last year. The age demographic they serve is mainly 16-25 years old. Thisgroup is important to reach because they are at increasingly greater risk. According to Eric Gast, CEO of FM World Charties, "We at FM World Charities feel that part of providing adequate health care is to help screen for common illnesses before they become life threatening. Survival rate for patients with early detection of skin cancer is about 99%. The Warped Tour not only gives us an increase in the number of individuals being screened for these conditions, but given the age demographic of this country wide tour, introduces the idea of preventative health care to a young audience." "Our hope is to increase awareness and provide rudimentary screenings primarily to their given age demographic. As you know, people of this age are seldom concerned with health issues, especially those they can't see. This is the first year we are doing this initiative and it is somewhat revolutionary for a charity to be administering an initiative across a tour of this magnitude."
Eric Gast – CEO and Managing Director – FM World Charities

The whole FM family is thrilled about the recent acquisition of Paige Wood to the music side of FM. "It was a logical progression," says FM-FOR MUSIC Los Angelas rep. Seth Rubin, "Paige is the embodiment of what an FM artist should be: talented, grounded, and willling to give above and beyond the call of duty. When she came on board with the charity I didn’t realize how talented she was musically, until I heard her play . . . I was amazed at how her style and charisma translated seemlessly into her music". Paige has joined forces with Veteran music producer/charity CEO Eric Gast on her forthcoming release. We caught up with Eric in Paris, where he is finishing a project for Warner. "I’m really excited about Paige’s record; we see eye to eye on a lot of production ideas, and I think Paige is the perfect artist for FM." Gast alluded to some major American shows in Paige’s near future, as well as the Europpean shows including Paris, Budapest, and Prague. Says Gast, "she’s one of those artists that’s perfect for all markets. I’m really lucky to be at a point in my career where everyone I work with, I respect musically . . . Paige is also an artist for whom I have the utmost respect as a person." We encourage you to check some of Paige’s work out at: http://www.myspace.com/paigewoodmusic and get ready for what’s to come.... FM WORLD CHARITIES STREET TEAM

In Memoriam: Ricky Parent On Saturday Oct 27th, 2007 Ricky Parent succumbed to cancer. Ricky was a close friend of mine and a valued member of fm world charities. His passion for life and always enduring smile served as an inspiration to us all. I remember helping him in the studio with some drum tracks just months before his death. I couldn't get over how well he performed and how enthusiastic he was, all the while sporting his trademark smile that never left his face in the studio. The bottom line is Ricky loved to play and anyone he touched knew that. Be it 100 people or tens of thousands, Ricky always brought his A game and enjoyed every minute of displaying it. And, at the end of the day I think all we can hope to get out of this world is to enjoy who we are and positively touch as many lives as possible. Ricky was a shining example of this. Ricky's name will remain on our board in perpetuity because not a day will go by that he is not in my thoughts and in my actions, especially in our initiatives that deal with the disease that took his life. I always had an answer for those who said " a good drummer is hard to find" now that answer is in the heart and in the mind… Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loving family. Sincerely, Eric M.
