what's up everybody ? Dreadfall has been featured once again in (ME) Music Entertainment Magazine and we wanted to post the article online for those of you who are unable (or just too damn lazy...lol) to go out and pick up a copy. They're FREE btw. The magazine is awesome and covers music news across the Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana area !!! We wanta thank Steve Nall and Darrell Mullins for the Dreadfall articles and the story on J.D. Hall back in October. So, here it is:

THP REWIND (ME MAGAZINE) March 09' issue - Steve Nall

"Hello everyone ! Steve from The Hard Place here and I have something new for you. I have been getting emails and calls from some bands I have reviewed in the past that have new material out and want to get the word out to all of you. The problem is, my regular column is designed to always bring you new bands. SO, to keep you up to date on your favorite local and regional bands, I have begun this column. Although this will not be a monthly feature, I really want to bring you up to date on these bands, so occasionally I'll pop my musical head in here and give ya the 411. This month is a band from my hometown of Pikeville, Ky. - DREADFALL.
If you read my earlier review of the band, you know just how heavy these guys are (check it out online at memusicnews.com/THP_oct07.html), and now they're back to pummel you some more with their latest release, "A War Within Itself". The offering is Dreadfall at their best to date. Songs like "Plague" and the title track hit you with some thick grooves and mosh inducing breakdown riffs. On "A War" , we are treated to a kickin' drum solo/intro by the insane J.D. Hall that really puts the vibe down immediately. His playing on all the tracks I got to hear is focused, spot on and the double kicks in "Plague" are tight indeed. Guitarist Brandon Carroll is no slouch either, kickin' out some sweet wah-wah soloing on "A War" and the tremolo picked section  in "Plague" is locked on J.D.'s blast beats like a pit bull. Vocalist Micheal Keene is his brutal self on all the tracks, but at the same time his delivery allows his lyrics to come through the ripping hardcore vocal style he employs. Newly aquired bassist Daniel Rogers didn't join in time for tracking, but the bassist on the CD, Jeremy Chaney, did a great job holding down the bottom on all the songs. I especially like "What I've Become", as it swings and slams all at the same time, never giving an inch as the band hits you with multiple bruising riffs throughout the song and the entire cd.

In my communications with the band, they told me about all the label interest that is coming their way now and I have to say, they deserve every bit of it. Their legion of fans is growing every day and it looks to me like Dreadfall is poised to take the metal world by storm ! The band also just completed their latest VIDEO offering (to coincide with the cd release) for the single "Haunted". It was filmed at various locations all over Eastern Ky. by Dan and Kim Hiff of Big Appal Stuidos, and it looks great. The band are ghosts (to go with the "haunted" theme), and the trasparent effect is sweet ! I highly recommend checking out Dreadfall either online or live (the BEST way) as they attack unsuspecting metalheads at The Rock-It Club in Bluefiled, Wv. on March 7th, The Nile in Mt. Sterling Ky. on March 28th. Keep it heavy and I'll see ya next time !!!"
