This weekend we'll be heading to Nashville to record some new tracks with our buddy Rob at NME Studios. We're very excited to get these tracks on tape, as we feel they show a marked progression from our 2007 demo.  The influence of our new members is already showing through, and we're really excited to let everyone hear the end result!

In January we'll be hitting the road again, teaming up with our great friends Anagnorisis.  Below is the routing (and if anyone can help fill that January 8 date, contact us!)

1.02.09 - The Muse - Nashville, TN
1.03.09 - Little Tree Studios - Decatur, GA
1.04.09 - Charlotte Underground - Charlotte, NC
1.05.09 - The Brewery - Raleigh, NC
1.06.09 - Ramakins - Richmond, VA
1.07.09 - The Velvet Lounge - Washington, DC
1.08.09 - anywhere! Help us book this!
1.09.09 - Ruby Tuesday - Columbus, OH
1.10.09 - The Emerson Theater - Indianapolis, IN

Come out, party with us, and let us sleep on your floor. We'll have new CDs and a reprint of our "Skeleton Trinity" t-shirt for sale, too!

Thanks to everyone who contacted us about trying out for guitar and bass. After a few months of talking to people and auditions, we're excited to announce the addition of Sebastian on guitar and Darius on bass. With these new members we're also excited to announce that we'll be heading to Nashville at the end of October to record with Rob at NME Studios. Rob handled the recording on our last CD, and we're excited to hear these new songs after he gets his hands on 'em! Look for that CD to arrive in November.

And come out to this show! It's our first show since July, and there are two great touring bands on the bill, so be sure to check them out!

Thanks to everyone in Alabama who came out and partied with us this weekend. Extra special thanks to Cam from Chaos Inception and Kyle in Madison for hooking up some sweet shows.

As you've probably noticed, our good friends Mike and Clay from CREMAINS have been helping us out on 2nd guitar and bass duties, respectively. HUGE thanks to those guys for learning our set in a short period of time and helping us out with the shows we had booked! We're now going to be on hiatus for a while, auditioning people for the positions, recording a new CD, and not sleeping in a van for a while. We'll be back later this fall with a new lineup, new merch, and new tunes for all of you.

Keep checking back for more updates in the coming weeks!

So that was that. All in all, it was a fun 10 days. We only wound up $120 in the hole, and that was due to a blown tire and two shows that unexpectedly became free shows -- without those things, we would've wound up with a small profit. Still, not bad for an unsigned death metal band touring in the age of $4/gallon gas prices.

As for our tourmates Anagnorisis, we really lucked out hooking up with a band that put on such a great show night after night. It really pushed us to be better, and as a result, the people who came to our shows got their money's worth, and I hope they left and told their friends about the two brutal touring bands they saw that night. If they roll into your town, do yourself a favor and GO TO THE SHOW. You won't be disappointed. They also happen to be a great bunch of non-drinking dudes who put up with our drunken antics on a nightly basis. We love those dudes!

The next morning, we had the tire replaced and headed to Jefferson City, TN. The one thing we noticed after stepping out of the van upon arriving was the heat. We were back in Tennessee, for sure. The club was a coffee/juice bar, and I'm not entirely sure what went on with the booking, but this was another free show where we'd have to play and hope to sell a lot of merch. So much for not ending the tour in debt. So after some haggling, we decided to play the show. Good thing we did, we sold around $80 in merch. After the show, we decided to just drive straight on through the night back to Memphis.

So we headed to South Carolina -- Spartanburg to be exact. We were running really late due to our fruitless search for a tire for the van. We rolled up to the club right as Anagnorisis had finished playing. We were apparently tacked on to an existing show, so that was why we weren't being paid. Unfortunately, our plan to make up for not being paid with merch sales failed miserably. Ah well, we were still in the black, for one more day at least.

The next morning, we headed to Raleigh, NC. Finally blew a tire about 10 minutes into the trip. It was inevitable, things had been going so well that we needed a nice $100 expense to fuck up our budget. Anyway, Raleigh is probably the nicest town we've seen on this tour from an aesthetic standpoint. It was just ... really pleasant. I could see myself living here once I escape from Memphis. And they sell Magic Hat, so that's a big plus! This was also a great-sounding club, but the stage vibrated like crazy towards the front. It seriously made my feet numb and I had to fight to keep my balance (the beer didn't help matters). The locals on this one were great as well -- this tour is probably the best one yet as far as playing with really awesome local bands. The only downer was receiving bad news that the show in Greenville had been canceled at the original venue. We could still play nearby, but we'd be playing for free. Bleh. Well maybe we'd sell enough merch to make up for not getting paid ...

After the Richmond show, we decided to just drive straight on to Virginia Beach. We were all looking forward to this day because ... it's the beach! We live in the midsouth, so the idea of a beach makes us hard. After a few hours of sleep in the increasingly hot van, we headed for the closest beach we could find. Well, this wasn't much of a beach, it was more of a shoreline. Thick, packed sand and seaweed, with nary a wave to be seen for miles. The water was pretty damn cold too. Ah well, we still had a nice walk along the water. The show that night was fun, great sound and an enthusiastic crowd. Also played with some good locals, so that was cool. Had somewhat of an adventure with the sleeping arrangements later that night, but that'll just have to be left to your imagination.

Current mood:  bitchy
This was an interesting show. Tiny sushi bar, and we played in a little area about the size of a large bathroom. Squeezing five guys and Lloyd's kit in there wasn't easy, but we worked it out. The best part of the night was the free sushi, all we could eat. The worst part was not getting all of our "guarantee" -- that'd be an issue in the nights to come too. I did however discover a great beer here called Magic Hat.
