I've started to realise that the internet hasn't really given those with a fetishistic DIY approach what they wanted. We've got some things we're going to try out soon. I think the idea of giving something away for free is great, but I'm like you, I'd prefer some cool artwork and some ritual in my life. When you think about it though, the idea of a band becoming a cottage industry is not depressing. Maybe the concept of the music industry is dead, but that's not a bad thing. People always want something for free. If people had their way they'd get everything for free, they're like the fool who eats the last apple instead of planting it. they don't care how much time and resource goes into something, they just want to get it for free so they can consume. The key is that dreams of Ziggy Stardust/Led Zeppelin stardom and decadence need to give way to brand new dreams that we're inventing every day. R

There is some more supportive press here in Portland, from the Willamette Week and Portland Mercury (incidentally the two papers we actually read here in PDX)

Screens. We are gazing into the virtual panopticon which serves only the tightening of a noose. Only a cornered animal will fight. Who is it that makes our world cornerless? Continue to search subjects you care nothing about. Meanwhile, think thoughts that contradict your online persona. Work toward a state where advertisements are always wrong about your desires. Visit sites you don't like while reading books you do. Wear the wrong clothes. Project the wrong message. Attain the incorrect image. Behave inappropriately for someone of your so-called race. Secretly create distaste for anything that is commercially available. Pretend to agree but don't. Pretend to believe but don't. Dissonate. Masterbate to images which don't arouse. Build the wrong profile. Send mixed messages. Bait and switch. Look dumb but be smart. Secretly learn new languages. Secretly invent new languages. Look white and be black. Look right and be left. Lie about your favourites. Use the wrong emoticons. Make sure the machine and the beast don't match. Feign apathy. Feign allegiance. Feign contentedness. Feign belief. Feign weakness. Secretly harbour dissatisfaction. Secretly enjoy the wrong things. Secretly think. Buy junk food and secretly throw it away untouched. Secretly stop working and playing. Secretly build physical endurance. Secretly de-stabilise a given. Crack your skull. Pour it out. Secretly change your mind. Hang a false persona on an arbitrary structure. Confuse the others. Feign incorrect answers.
