I have been hibernating! After half a year of travels and touring I decided to take it easy for a bit….but I am back on target and hoping that this finds you all healthy and happy!....

 ....

I have been traveling the high seas recently. I just got back from a short tour with Red Holloway whom I sang with on the Jazz Cruise with. It was great mixing with the crème de la crème of musicians and stopping throughout the Caribbean and sightseeing, my favorite stop was St. Bart’s where a single scoop of gelato cost me $15 and it wasn't nearly as good as the Affogato at my friend Francesco's place Pappalecco in Little Italy.  St. Thomas was beautiful although it rained as there was a hurricane shouting about in the Caribbean and we caught whispers of the winds on our travels. ....

 ....

A highlight of my trip was horseback riding in the Bahamas, we took the horses around the island and then what fun, in the water!!!!  On the last night of the cruise friend Ann Hampton Callaway invited 5 lovely ladies up for what she called the "Diva Dance." Ann is notorious for her on the spot lyrics and making one think as she picks a topic and creates a song spontaneously with the involvement of the artists and the audience. (For those of you who don't know Ann was the one who wrote and sung "The Nanny" theme, among many accomplishments. Joining Ann for the "Diva Dance" were Denise Thimes, Karrin Allyson, Niki Haris, Paulette Williams and myself. Talk about DIVA POWER, wow was that fun singing on that stage that night, what a great close to wonderful week, thank you Ann.....

 ....

I have some new things in the works, some new gigs and a great holiday concert at The Westgate scheduled for December 17 in the Versailles Ballroom.  Also a new project in the works, which I like to call “The Steve and Eydie Set.”....

 ....

Sending you all many blessings and love,....

So............ I was thinking......life is beautiful and exciting. It is really whatever you make it to be and how much you put in is often what you get out of it. Although.....I feel life is better lived when you have a pure heart and your intentions are pure. I played this weird game tonight at party that you had to say something that you had never had. Calculating points, the most innocent would win. I said "soulmate"....it seems that not many have had that. I have been in and out of love before.....the love of my life is music but really we all think we have been in love at one time and i was thinking that I was in love at one time and about to get married and I thought that he was my life...I would have given my life for him and now it seems but a distant memory, a nightmare, oftentimes a dream of paradise anyhow it’s interesting how life treats us and how its up and downs take us for a most amusing ride. I am writing this just thinking, venting to my friends about "la vie" waiting for "la belle vie" as Sacha Distel sang about. Its about time for it. Everyone has pieces of it but is it really possible to have passion and love all the time would that be too much? Is it really possible.....perhaps being satisfied with ourselves and our lives and unattached to outcomes is what leads to our own happiness.............ahhhhhhhhhhh that’s all I have to say about that! LoL..........

:) Is it just me or do they live better in Europe???????????????????? Maybe I will go back for a month.....it’s always great to go there and see family, drink beer and visit my family.

Current mood:  angry
I have never had it easy nor think the world is free from prejudice....but I was sailing free for a while until lately. I am not sure why I am being discriminated, perhaps it is the color of my skin, maybe because I am different, not thin, I have dark hair I am Mexican and Lebanese. Regardless it is wrong! I will not name the institution but they do it to others as well and this place is run by people that are not nice and do not care how they treat people, because the have money. This just makes me want to get out there and change the world. I know this sounds childish and I know many of you have been in my place. But I HATE MEAN PEOPLE. I really do! I think that their lack of empathy and compassion will karmicly come back and bite them in the ass. In some situations the best thing to do is pray for these people. But I am not there yet I am angry at the fact that they are so wrong and so ignorant. I am curious......how many of you have been discriminated against?

Check this book out by author Mary Castillo, who is a San Diego Native and now resides in Newport Beach. Her colorful writing and latin influences are spicy and colorful. She has told me that I inspired her book. I just got my copy today and I am very excited to read it! Here are a couple of her blogs about the book and me.

''Sacha was the inspiration for my book, Names I Call My Sister.''

''Sacha Boutros is a jazz musician not an author and since this is my list, I figure I can fudge the rules a bit. When I was writing the character of Sela from ''Till Death Do Us Part'', I could only hear her voice for the longest time. Usually I see my characters first and then hear their voices. But it made sense that Sela (who is a struggling jazz singer and musician) had a very clear, distinct voice. Later when I heard Sacha on MySpace, I went very still like a ghost had just walked into my room. She sounded just like Sela. If you read ''Till Death Do Us Part'', I highly recommend that you do so with Sacha's gorgeous serenade.''
