DaLinda at Henry County GA
DaLinda is a black cat and black cats and kittens have it the worst in the GA shelter system
Sadly without a rescue or an adoption DaLinda will be killed.
Theshelter volunteer said she is the sweetest cat, reminds her of
HuggyMomma. Her collar is covered in rhinestones and jingle bells.
Thissmall fact made me cry. How do you buy your cat such a pretty
collar, shower her with affection and then dump her at one of the
highest killshelters for cats in GA?? DaLinda is located at Henry
County AnimalCare and Control in McDonough GA Please. please if you have room in your rescue or home (and heart) for DaLinda please email us at kat5animalrescue2@gmail.comTransport to other areas of the US can be arranged for DaLinda. DaLinda
is still at Henry Co Animal Care and Control but she needs toget out
today. She has a hold on her until tomorrow but no one can pickher up
tomorrow so today it is. We have someone ready to go pickher up,
get her to boarding for her quarantine and to the vet for hertests,
spay and shots. However Kat 5 never pulls a cat or dog with outfunds to
pay their bills. So before she can get out of dodge DaLindaneeds a
little spending money to pay her bills $70 -for boarding (14 days @ $5 a day) $70 -spay $40 -combo test $50 -transport $35 -rabies and vaccinations ___________________ $265 total for DaLinda's bills. Wehave
not received all the bills for the previous cats saved so we arenot
sure if there are any leftover funds to apply to DaLinda. So wewill
need the full$265 for her. If we do find there are funds left overfrom
previous cats we will apply them to DaLinda's fund raiser. Please help us help DaLinda Paypal your donation to kat5animalrescue@yahoo.com or simply click on this link to use the ChipIn widget to donate http://kat5animalrescue.chipin.com/dalinda-henry-co-gaThank-youall
in advance for all the help for DaLinda. As always ALL donationsare
truly appreciated by us and DaLinda. All donations are also

We received this plea today from a shelter volunteer. There is a male 5-6 week old black lab mixed pup at Dekalb. His belly is distended from worms and he has the start of KC, the pup also has a lump on one side above his ribs that feels like some type of soft tissue injury. The poor little thing is not really eating his food, just licking the gel off the canned food. He is being held in the intake bay and has not been exposed to the general population. I am heartbroken that I could not take him today while getting pictures, I only pray that he makes it through the night. If anyone has room in their heart and home for this sweet baby, please contact the adoption/rescue coordinator immediately!
This pup desperately needs our help! The volunteer has offered to help sponsor this puppy to give him a second chance by matching the first $50 in donations, but we will still need to raise funds before we can commit to pulling a special needs pet. Total Funds Needed: $200Current Donations: $65Still Needed: $135 We will need to act swiftly if we are to raise the sponsorship in time. Please help spread the word, cross-posting is one of the easiest ways to help out. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible. Thank you to all of our supporters, we could not continue our work without all of you!
UPDATE
From Rock's foster mom (Yes we pulled him without enough funds because we could not let him be pts. This means we are in debt and can not help another pet before he raised all his funds. We know we broke the rules but Rock only knew abuse in his very short life, he needed to know love and puppiness so we pulled him)
Our little guy is doing really well on his antibiotics. I took Rock(y) to the vet on MondayJoyner diagnosed him with congenitalgenetic defect that causes dwarfism
due to malformation of the bones. The condition can be corrected with
surgery, although his legs may straighten out some just from him
growing stronger as he runs and plays.

We were called by someone who mistakenly thought we were a shelter. He had found a pitbull puppy and followed it to see that it was living under a house. He says that drug dealers abandoned the house and left the dog. The neighbor lives in an apartment and is unable to keep the dog, and cannot afford even temporary care for her. We have begged him to foster her for a day or two until we can do something. We need to get him a crate, and we need to raise money for food, vet treatment (shots, deworming, spay surgery) while we try to find someone who is not too full to take one more pittie. The pup is very sweet, and pretty as you can see. Please help us save her!!

Mark your calendars for Monday, Mar. 9 at 8 am. Plan to attend the hearing on Graces Law, H.B. 606, in the Georgia Capitol Building in Atlanta. Also, and if you cannot attend, please write or call committee members and Georgia legislators in support of this bill.
This important bill will bring to an end in Georgia the use of animal gas chambers and cruel heartstick on dogs and cats in public shelters.
Please help. Go here for more information about the hearing and how you can contact committee members and Georgia legislators and urge them to support this legislation.

Kat 5 received this email and we agreed to cross post and repost it to help get these cats and kittens adopted or rescued. PLEASE READ AND REPOST (THANK-YOU!!)
Hello everyone- There are lots of great cats at DeKalb Animal Services who are in need of adoption or rescue. I am attaching photos of some of them to this email. We have two sets of moms and kittens, a black and white mom with 4 kittens and a Siamese mom with 3 kittens. However two other babies came in and they are now with the Siamese mom, so now she has a total of 5. We also have another Siamese who is very shy. She is not aggressive at all, just very scared being here at the shelter. I am also attaching a photo of a very pretty torti. Please contact me if you would like to rescue any of these guys or any of the other dogs and cats at our shelter. Please forward this information on to anyone who is wanting to help. Thanks!

From: Cathy
Dougalsville, GA - Puppy was Bound, Gagged, and Double-Bagged as Trash!
No: 1090 No Name - CRUEL DISPOSAL

I was found by a man driving past some trash cans at Walmart in Douglasville on Highway 5. The kind man saw a trash bag that moved and he opened the DOUBLED bags to find poor little me, gagged and bound thrown away like garbage. I was so hungry and thirsty when my kind Animal Officer (above) put me in her truck and brought me the shelter! I am doing well and playing with toys in my cage but I really want to go to a loving home that will treat me as the little PRINCE that I am. I am beautiful as you can see and everyone notices me. I will be available for adoption Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 10:00 A M.
WHO WILL BE THE FIRST NAME ON THE WAITING LIST TO TAKE ME HOME?

Lawton_Two Lawton area teens accused of beating a cat and posting it on YouTube over the weekend will be going through the juvenile justice process in Oklahoma. The 14 and 16-year-old brothers each face two charges of animal cruelty after law enforcement was directed to two videos on Sunday that showed the beating and torture of the grey cat named Dusty, and each video carries separate charges. Calls have come in from all over the world to the Comanche County Sheriff's Department wanting to know what has become of two cats. People have called with offers to adopt the animals, and pay their medical expenses. The Comanche County District Attorney's office says the cats have yet to be adopted - although they remain in the care of a local private vet clinic - because they are part of an ongoing investigation. 7News may be able to get video of the cat after it is released and/or adopted to show the status of its recovery. Comanche County Juvenile Bureau's Rick Lowe says that as this is a juvenile case, and he has no comment. Juvenile records in Oklahoma are sealed. He did say, however, that the juvenile system does provide consequences for actions, and has a lot of tools at its disposal, both in community service, education, etc. 7News phone lines and emails have been busy with questions about what will happen to the boys. Even more are requesting information about Dusty the Cat. The cat is okay and in the care of a veterinarian. During their investigation, the Comanche County Sheriff's Department discovered a third abuse video that shows the beating of a black and white cat - also at a teens' home. The sheriff's department rescued that cat today. The videos uploaded to YouTube show two separate incidents of animal abuse involving the same cat, and the teens face separate charges for each video. "We filed two counts of animal cruelty on each of the two teenagers today," said Comanche County District Attorney Robert Schulte. "They will be referred to the juvenile court system. We'll expect them to make their appearance early this week before the juvenile judge." The teenagers have a right to a jury trial, and if they waive that, a judge will decide their fate. Until the two suspects are 18-years-old they are considered juveniles and the court records will be sealed. However, Schulte says he knows there is a lot of public concern over the case, and the court is taking it seriously. "I can tell you that our juvenile judge is a long-standing judge, very conservative, very well thought of, very well respected judge," he said. "He will do what he believes is necessary, and feels best in this case as it goes through the system." The courts have ensured that the pets will not be abused again. Dusty was removed from the home on Sunday, and the second cat was removed Tuesday. "They have been treated by local veterinarians, they are doing well," said Schulte. "They will not go back into the home, and they are expected to be adopted out into a good home in the next few days." Comanche County Sheriff Kenny Stradley says that once the vet treats Dusty and the other cat, 7News will be able to visit them. You can count on us to have much happier footage of Dusty and the other cat later this week. Schulte says he did not know what punishment the boys may face if found guilty, but said the penalties for a juvenile conviction could include psychological counseling, court monitoring until they turn 18, community service to provide restitution for treatment of animals, and/or placement in court custody. Count on 7News for updates on the cats as soon as they are available.

Even though it is not quite ready to be launched, Kat 5 Animal Rescue thought that Spay Day was the perfect time to announce one of our newest programs: Litters to Go (SM)
Litters to Go(SM) is a program that is both PROACTIVE and REACTIVE to the pet overpopulation situation.
1. A family brings puppies to the shelter to dump them off :-(
2. Shelter director or Litter to Go (LTG)(SM) liaison explains what can happen to puppies at a shelter (parvo, URI, KC, and death)
3. The family is then told about Litters to Go(SM) and, if the family is willing, they sign a contract with Kat 5 Animal Rescue to surrender the puppies to Kat 5 after 14 days
4. The puppies are immediately vaccinated and dewormed and return home with their family for the 14 day quarantine period
5. After 14 days the puppies are turned over to Kat 5 Animal Rescue. They are then transported, via licensed, professional transporters, to their pre screened rescues where there are pre approved homes waiting for them.
That is not all!! The momma dog will be SPAYED FREE OF CHARGE to the family through the Litters To Go(SM) Program. To help make an impact on the number of homeless pets every other unaltered pet in the household that has signed up for LTG (SM) will also be SPAYED OR NEUTERED FREE OF CHARGE to the family. And as a bonus :-)Kat 5 will microchip all pets in the household.
We are tying up loose ends and a few details but hope to sign up our first litter very soon. Please stay tuned for updates for Litters To Go (SM) and the other fabulous programs Kat 5 Animal Rescue has in store for 2009 and the future.
