Hi ho silver lining!

Every cloud has a silver lining. I'm not quite sure what was ours, but this day was good. For me and Eemeli morning was at noon. 5.00 PM, after Aki's school day, we went to finish our project with the drums. Eemeli had had his rest, so Half the lover was quite a quick job. Heather and Electric were trickier, just because they hadn't been practiced so throughly.

Frontman of Heippa records and Getawaycab, Henri Koskiniemi visited. He gave his divine productional fingerprint and a few encouriging words. He also recorded one drum take for Electric, but somehow it wasn't usable for our purposes. Maybe he didn't hear the click.. Or it might have been art.. Anyway, Henri was of great amusement and help tonight!

Hallf an hour before deadline we had a few promising takes of Electric, so the final take finished the job. It was finally done!

Tonight we ate chicken wok and relaxed. Tomorrow we'll be driving hours and hours into the sunset.. A long sunset... This has been an experience, no matter what. All the cussing, spitting, playing again and again has grown our skin thicker. Hope you'll love the fruits of these days' work. Maybe someday we will too.

Another day of frustration. Day of despair. And monsterous jamming.

Yesterday we hooked up with some of Aki's school friends and hung out at the Sky bar. After an hour of hiphop treatment past closing time we decided to head for bed. Morning was slow, yet not as freezy as the morning before. Recording started with some promising takes, but a few setbacks managed to stiff the spirit a bit.

Goofing around with video camera, light minded jamming and coffee drinking was hip today. "Grandeville Cribs" and "Grandeville Big Brother" are on tape now. Quality entertainment, if you ask me. In many ways we came to notice an inconspicious tiredness. Laughter filled the room occasionally, even without any specific reason.

Parts of songs were recorded successfully, yet only one song was finished. We had to accept this wasn't the day to play. Aki checked the reservation list of the studio, and it looked promising. Tomorrow was out of the plans before, but now it's reality. We'll be living it up in the studio tomorrow night.

Some progress today! Three and a half songs to go!

Morning wasn't exactly how it was supposed to be.. Alarms went and we snoozed till 11.00 AM. Hours of wasted time didn't depress Eemeli's groove and somehow Snakes and Rails were recorded before 2.00 PM. Half nudity and litres of coffee seen also.

I bought three more DV cassettes, so we have no more problems with tape running out. Dozens of tired takes have been filmed today, and temper has been on stakes many times. Still alive and kicking, though. Even after pizzas from town's only pizzeria.

Tonight we'll be checking out local "nightlife". Since wake up call is early, it seems we won't be out late. Local "Skybar" appears to be our destination tonight. We've heard the locals have wicked way with fists so low profile might be our road to victory this time.

Fresh baked drums for Fragile are waiting for editing.

At 12.15. PM me and Eemeli rose up to face the day. Aki had been studying already for several hours. After a few hours of preparing we headed for studio where Aki was already waiting eagerly. Fragile was the first to be recorded. it took three hours fo have it done, after which we had a coffee break and ate.

Later we had technical difficulties. We ran out of hard disk space. I went to supermarket, but they had no hard disk space, so I bought tunafish and milk chocolate. Also my digital camera seems to be broken. It basicly swallows batteries, so it appears to be quite expensive to photograph our sessions. Enjoy those photos with respect!

After hours of frustration, videofilming and miscellaneous assing we had Fragile baked. Walking on the rails and Snakes had something to start with tomorrow. Suitable amount of tunafish sauce and pasta, a few beers and an episode of Cheaters welcomes us to sleep.

We spent the day sightseeing and shit-talking in the front seat of my Nissan. Goofing around with a video camera was maybe the funniest thing ever, and you will see some of it at YouTube pretty soon. Only some editing and it will be baked.

About 7.00 PM me and Eemeli finally reached the beautiful nowhere called Virrat. Aki warmly welcomed us and we headed for studio. Hours and hours of desperate hunting for decent sounds with various heads and random clothing (yes indeed, everything from coats to socks) worn us out. It was time to go home and open our first beers. So much for "no alcoholic beverages"..

Tomorrow never dies. It will be seen if it will kill us.

Tomorrow we'll be going shy way on the highway and listening to good music as we travel across the country to record our debut album. Only drums will be topical at first since we have very limited time. It seems we won't be relaxing with alcoholic beverages this weekend. We'll be updating this blog when we have time. Hopefully with some photos and even video material.. :P
