So tonight I finally performed the role of 'Carmen,' which I've been preparing for for the last 3 months! I was extremely excited about this opportunity, not only because I was able to use my Opera training from College, but also because... since I have been a gypsy for the last four 5 years for Halloween, I felt the role was made for me... maybe... just a little ? Yes, no? Ok : ) The story of Carmen is about a seductive gypsy named Carmen who is controlled by no one, especially not a man, and runs free abiding by no Earthy rules except her own. She also has a tendency to take up lovers with her magic charm and dispose of them just as quickly. Don Jose, a military officer (in Spain) falls in her path and is insnared, and Carmen briefly falls in love with him too....Briefly. Before ruining his life and driving him to a point of an enraged love-insanity, the "Seguidillia" duet brings us to the starting point of their relationship, with Carmen already playing games with him. Right now I'm listening to Ray Charles' "The Night Time is the Right Time"...
I've rediscovered my blues roots...I grew up on the blues! I've been going out a lot recently and jamming at local blues jams...it's awesome.  There's something about the blues that is so much fun to sing, more than any other music.  I think it is the fact that you can to totally go crazy while singing and just let go, in fact it's expected.  It's such a release and the people get just as much out of it too.  If your in the audience you feel freed almost by the singer...or at least that's how I feel : ) If you've got to explode on the microphone when your singing the blues!  My voice is always fried after a jam but it's so worth it!

Well I don't care what they say...Pluto will always be the nineth planet in my heart.  I refuse to cut down the nineth planet off of my sixth grade solar system mobile.  They made a mistake and now I think they should live with it, and by living with it I mean counting that sphere of ice as a planet. And somehow... I'd be ok with that.  Pluto you Rock! I love you, you tiny planet!
