Growing up playing the game of basketball my entire life, I have come to the conclusion that the game of streetball as I know it has deviated from its authentic roots. The new style of streetball has polluted the game we all love. Kids today think streetball consist of tricks, dunks and illegal moves. But, streetball has a rich tradition dating back almost 40 years when streetball legends like Dr. J and Nate "Tiny" Archibald showcased their skills at the local playground.
A tradition that continued with superstars like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan. These icons are all products of their local streetball courts. Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and Carmelo Anthony are all streetball players because their games where shaped and perfected at the playground. The World Streetball Championship is built on that same tradition; "Pure Basketball" is what we stand for…we believe that streetball is authentic basketball played outside. Our quest is to redefine and restore the definition of street basketball back to its original glory!
