Current mood:Pumped!
Hey guys! Nick here
We are done with the auditioning process! Our new lead singer is Justin Crist. He has been a friend of the band since we started out so it makes a lot of sense that he is joining us now! Get ready for shows again probably starting in September! Our new material is coming along pretty well. Andrew is now a writing member of the band and we have a new singer now so our new material is a little different, but many of the reasons why all of you like us are still there! Expect the new songs to be heavier and more technical! The face melting will continue soon.
BE READY!

Hey guys, Kyle here..

I have some unfortunate news.  Due to circumstances out of his control, Brian can no longer continue on with Act of War.  I just want to assure everyone that it’s not because of creative differences or tensions within the band - it’s another matter entirely, and we are all very disappointed by these events.

With that said, though, the rest of us have decided we are going to continue on, and as such, we’re on the look-out for a new vocalist to continue where Brian left off.  We’ll spend the entire summer auditioning potential members, and we plan on picking things back up in August.  We’re currently working on material for our second album, so things will be exciting either way.

Here are things that a vocalist MUST be able to do in order to be a part of this band:
1.  You must be willing to practice at least once a week, usually Saturday.
2.  You must be able to play shows frequently, sometimes out of town, usually on weekends - most likely Saturday nights, some occasional Friday nights as well.
3.  You must be able to scream - and well.  Listen to our album for inspiration.
4.  You should be able to contribute creatively to writing of music and lyrics.
5.  You must be willing to contribute a small amount of money to the band, for things such as gas money for shows, practice spot rent, and CD/Merchandise costs.
6.  It’s not required, but advisable that you live within a close distance of Purdue University.
7.  You must be laid back and easy to get along with - have a good time doing what you do, damn it.

If you would like to audition for Act of War, please don’t hesitate to send us a message on here, and we’ll set up a weekend where you can show us what you’re made of.

Thanks,
Kyle

Hey everyone, Kyle here.

As you've probably noticed, we haven't been very active on our upcoming shows.  We haven't played one for a few weeks and have nothing in the immediate future scheduled.

Fear not, though, nothing is wrong (other than absurd gas prices).  As some of you might know, as a band, we're scattered across the state during summer time.  A couple of us in Lafayette, some down by Cincinnati, Fort Wayne, and all the way up to Crown Point.  This makes it pretty time-consuming and expensive to play shows during this time of year.  Not to mention, we're all working so we can live comfortably during the next semester (which will allow us to play that many more shows at that time of year).

In addition to that, we are all very, very excited - and so, too, should any fans of our music.  We are currently in the process of recording our very first album, entitled "Judgement."  As of right now, the album is going to consist of either 10 or 11 tracks, and it'll be about 45 minutes long.  Not too shabby for a debut album, if you ask me.

1. (currently untitled)
2. Into the Rain
3. Defiance
4. Ritual
5. In Your Cold Eyes
6. Judgement
7. Serenity
8. Right to Exist
9. Still Breathing
10. Until the End

We'll once again be recording at Real Deal Recordings, which is run by our drummer Neal.  It's the same place we recorded the Into the Rain demo.  However, while the quality of the Into the Rain demo was good for being free and fast, over time we've become less and less fond of that sound.

The good news is, we've all become better players, and have learned a hell of a lot about what sounds good in a recording and what doesn't.  With that said, I can say without a doubt that the new quality is a million miles ahead of what we've done.  We still have a lot of cleaning up and recording to actually do, but we're all already very excited with what we know will be a tight and solid final product, since none of us will settle for anything less.

This is a pretty massive undertaking since we're doing all the recording and mastering ourselves.  We also need to travel a bit to do this, and try to coordinate schedules.  I can't say for certain when the album will be done, but it's fairly safe to assume it will be available late this summer, possibly sooner.  As far as shows go, we're trying to focus mainly on the album for now, but if we get the right show offer, we'll definitely play.  I know I'm personally itching at the bit to play a show, and I'm sure no one else is any different.

Stay tuned, maybe you'll get a sample or something =)

Hey guys, Kyle here.

Whew, it's been a crazy semester!  Changing guitarists, playing tons of shows.. after getting the call yesterday at 3 PM about a show 2 hours away that starts at 6 PM, and actually playing it, I thought I'd sit down and reflect back on what we've accomplished since December..

12/1/06 - Morton Community Center, West Lafayette, IN
12/06-1/07 - Recorded first demo, Into the Rain
1/5/07 - Bottom's Up Bar, Fort Wayne, IN
1/6/07 - Sunset Hall, Fort Wayne, IN
1/20/07 - Jerilee's Pub, Lafayette, IN
2/07-3/07 - Too cold to practice/trained new guitarist
3/10/07 - Mancino's Pizza and Grinders, Marion, IN
3/23/07 - Bottom's Up Bar, Fort Wayne, IN
3/31/07 - Headlined LML HardNHeavy, Jerilee's Pub, Lafayette, IN
4/9/07 - Featured local band on WIUX, Bloomington Student Radio
4/14/07 - Rhino's All-Ages Club, Bloomington, IN
4/16/07 - Did something cool and secretive, which you will discover soon enough
4/21/07 - Sanctuary of Shelbyville, Shelbyville, IN

Some awesome bands and people we have met along the way and would like to thank:
Sarene - By far the tightest and best sounding live show of the bands we play with
Still Beating - Same as above, that's why these three bands should always play together
The Armor Agenda - How are these guys not signed?  Thanks to these guys, we've got a cool show coming up, and hopefully more in the future
Chris Nord - God, I can remember playing Nintendo in your basement when we were like 5!  I think you've missed about 2 of our shows all together; your support is fucking amazing, and not enough can be said about how good of a friend you are.  He also got us a great discount on our shirts!
Allie Korosi - Helped us record, baked us cookies, does promoting, and bought me mixed nuts!  I also slept on her floor.  This girl is amazing.
Dave Hart - Best photographer ever, seek him out if you ever need any pictures.  See our badass logo?  He did that too.
Jared Sommer - For being my brother and removing Nick's bass farts, haha.
Danyl Britts - Designed the cover for our first demo.  It's badass too.
LML Mark - Thanks for taking the risk to feature a new band such as us on the HardnHeavy show.  We'd love to work together with you to build up this city's scene.
BCB Steve - When you said we'd be the next band you booked, you weren't joking!  Haha, thanks for the show, hope to play more in the future.
Any other of our friends who have travelled to see us - We are so grateful for your support as we try to build this band into all it can become.
Any band who has loaned us their amp for a show - You saved our asses and we owe you big time.
Any band who has played Into the Rain's intro during their sound check - You people are bastards.  And I've been known to play Broken News during ours.
Any sound guy who doesn't suck - This is a total of one person, the guy at Sunset.

If I forgot anyone, just call me and tell me I'm an idiot =)

So what's coming, you ask?
Haha.  A lot of things.  Big shows.  The summer time full of shows and sun. Our first full-length album, Judgement.  But we should have a surprise for everyone sometime this week.  Stay tuned!

Hello everyone, Kyle here with some news for everyone.

The first thing is something that everyone in the band knew was coming and dreading for a long time now.  With Gabe going to grad school next year, there is no way he could continue in Act of War past the summer.  Gabe has decided to bow out of Act of War early for the sake of the band and just simplicity's sake, and I can honestly say I understand his decision.  I think I speak for everyone when I say that Gabe will be sorely missed as one of the founding members and writers of Act of War.  We all had a great time together and you are a great friend.  Gabe's gonna continue to support us throughout the rest of the year, but we wish him the best in all of his future endeavors.. since I know he is planning on starting new musical ventures at grad school.

With that said, Act of War has selected a new guitarist in Andrew Caruana.  He is a student here at Purdue just like the rest of us.  We're currently working hard to get Andrew ready for his debut show in only a few short weeks, and we ask all of our fans and friends to come out and give us the same support you would otherwise.  Hopefully in only a few short weeks, Act of War will be just as focused and polished as it ever was.

If you have noticed, we have booked some big shows, especially the shows in Bloomington, Fort Wayne, and Lafayette.  We're also planning and preparing additional shows in Cincinatti, Lafayette, and Fort Wayne with our friends in Sarene and Still Beating, and we plan on taking over the midwest with those guys.  Great music, go check them out if you haven't.
