So here's the scoop. My band, Hexes, are meant to be on tour with Finch right? We played one show in Liverpool last week with them. That was weird as fuck. People staring at us like a dog thats just been shown a card trick. Not ideal. I ended up bogging out a couple of nightmares and it wasn't mellow. Anyways, awesome veggie food afterwards. So every cloud. Only this cloud is a big one and has been following us. After Finch play and singer Nate was sick onstage, it becomes apparent that he's ill. So we then drive away waiting to see if the next show in Newcastle is on. We get a call at like 11am saying its not, but tomorrow should be fine as Nates had some meds. So we drive to Glasgow. Aberdeen gets cancelled. We sit round Neils flat. Its a good time, we play the new Call Of Duty a shitload. We go to The Cathouse for its Birthday clebration, we get in for free and get given free booze all night. Stoked. The next day we get up and go shopping. Jon buys some sweet tassled loafers and everyone decides that Starbucks Dark Cherry Mocha is the best beverage ever served. Cathouse again that night. Blag in, free booze, good times. Next morning we get up. Today is the Glasgow show day. Its also my birthday. How can it go wrong?! Another phone call. No show tonight... Homeslice is still sick.
So we pack our shit up, get the fuck out of Neils and his flatmates Colins hair and decide to drive back home as all dates are off until the 21st in Coventry. Joy. My birthday is spent driving in a van with no heating for nine hours. As we get within 30 miles of home the traffic on the M25 is crawling. No worries. Its all good. Oh wait... The vans stopped. We are in the third lane of a four lane stretch. At least the traffics not moving. Oh... So then we sit in a white tin box for ten minutes sweating as cars fly past either side of us at 80 mph and trucks swerve to avoid us. Hazard lights aren't cutting it. I suggest running for the hard shoulder. An enormous truck nearly hits the van and we decide this isnt cool. We make calls and text people we love. Its not the fun packed birthday adventure I was hoping for. After a guy pulls into the hard shoulder and reverses back for 2 minutes just to look at us, we try the engine AGAIN. It starts! Crawl into the hard shoulder and wait for traffic police and a rescue truck. 30 mins in the cold are nothing. We are all drunk on life. 'Can you believe we didnt get killed?!' Very high fucking fives all around... We get home safe and sound. Maybe we'll be back out on tour in a few days. I'm hoping so. Better happen after all this bullshit. I hope Nate gets better and I hope this all is worthwhile in the end...

Oh man. Looks like the 'A' reformation is causing some ripples to the Jungian collective unconscious. I'm not playing at the shows 'A' are doing with The Wildhearts next month, but I'll gladly have any PRS that appears after Finnish dudes do this:

My band Hexes is going on tour with CB's and JT as of tomorrow. I'm preeeeeeeeeeetty happy about it. If you are coming to any of the shows, get there early and check out Hexes. The Rock Show tomorrow night will be from BBC Cardiff and as its a new studio for me, it could be a little sketch so bear with it. Hopefully Liam from Cancer Bats will be coming in and playing some tunes and taljking about being in a rad band. Good stuff.

All of you that keep emailing and texting the show asking for the jingle so you can use it as your ringtone, can now fucking stop. Its up on my page for your downloading pleasure. It'll be there until someone works out where its from and then tries to issue a cease and desist order. Enjoy!

So I went to Butlins this weekend. Not been to Butlins since I was teeny tiny. The one in Minehead got transformed into Hard Rock Hell for the weekend. This transformation involved a few banners and 4000 old school metallers. Travelled up with the Romeo Must Die guys and was drove through the 1989 time portal at about 3pm at the front gate.
By about 9 o'clock friday night, half the people were absolutely slaughtered, staggering about and generaly living the whole Butlins 18-30 vibe with added cut of denims and an array of patches...

Adam Da Rat and I got hooked up with the 'Rado One Chalet' which when I turned the DVD player on to play a CD, already had a porno in it called 'Be My Bitch'. That my friends is good service. Adam was there to do his usual shenanigans for the show and tried to play Twister with Twisted Sister and McQueen. Mark 'The Animal' Mendoza was so not into it and basically the Sisters used it as an excuse to lay into him and show off to the ladies. Which he dealt with admirably. Hero.

Saw Cradle Of Filth that night. In Butlins. Sabbat played the next day, opened with 'A Cautionary Tale' and I too was transported back in time. They were fucking awesome. When any front man says in between songs 'Scream for me Butlins!' and tries not to piss himself laughing, you gotta be pretty stoked.

I met a bunch of cool people, saw some very very drunk people and chatted to one guy who was total cock, but yeah it was a pretty funny time.

So yeah I'll be there next year, they gotta sort out a few of the hitches and maybe bring the fridays line up a little more into this era, but all in all, it was a good time.

Oh and Turisas owned the festival.
