Sam%20MarshQuantcast

This is brand new, so let me know any issues that you find.... My system is not exactly state of the art, at least not the one connected to the net.

It seems like forever since I last had time to really work on music.  Too much focusing my attention on eating and such mundane things. Legend has been on hold while we wait for the album to be released.  We're looking into doing a show at Heaven and Hell in DC with Metrorail, a sister band with several shared members to get things rolling again.  The CD is basically done, and and booklet is about 75% there.  I hear we have a cover painting finally, but I haven't actually seen it yet.

I started putting down some tracks for a few more Screw the Bastards tunes this past week, Little Pink Particles and Frames (Milo III) got some drums, and I'm back at the keys putting together the frameworks for Sirens and Afterture (Milo IV and VI).  I have been playing guitar again, mostly puttting togerther rhythm parts for Milo 5, which has gotten mushy for me.  I was never quite satisfied with how the original demo came out, so I'm going to go further out on this one than I would have with a band.... but then again I can do that now, can't I :)  I find my self foreshadowing Seventh Sun a lot, and Jay and I have discussed working on that again, starting recordings with just the two of us and building from there.  That project will make Screw the Bastards seem primitive, which in some ways it is.  I might have a preview of that for you soon.

As some of you know, I've been surviving of late by hosting Karaoke.  I sing a few tunes, mostly Beatles and Kashmir, but mostly I just run sound and announce things.  I started out loathing karaoke intensely, but occasionally I can "cheat" and bring out my backing tracks and sing Lady Godiva or someting, and drunks can be highly amusing at times. It's definitely helping me keep my voice in shape.  I'm at the Sobe grill in Arlington on Saturday nights regularly, plus a lot of random places with short notice the rest of the time.  I'm going to put up a seperate myspace page for that in the near future.  I'll even bring my flute if I know people will be coming to hear it.

I've been looking in to other areas of online promotion, and I encourage eveyone to check out Reverbnation.  I like their setup quite a bit... especially the tune widget.... which I'm posting here next.

The major problem is now in the past.  I got her out yesterday afternoon, and she's home safe.  Thanks to all of you who donated and sent words of support.  It's nice to know that there are still people out there who care.

I'm leaving the donation link up for a while, as I had to borrow a lot to make this happen.  But at least there's no rush now.  She didn't get hurt in there, and she's OK.

.........

I really hate to do this kind of thing, but I need some help.

The Vice Queen, my manager, partner and lover, has been jailed for poverty. After a period of unemployment last year, she has been garnished to the point where she gets $1.49 for 2 weeks, and they still threw her in jail for being behind. I have to raise 5791.12 to get her out.

In my view, this constitutes debtor's prison, a concept of the middle ages that was supposed to have been wiped out here in America. She's not the kind of person who will do well in jail.
Please help if you can

Thanks,

Sam

Current mood:  chipper

I don't like getting up early.  As in still dark early.  But I suppose if you're trying to photograph mist on the Potomac, you gotta do it.  The Vice Queen got some nice shots, the first of which are already up, as we endeavor to update my site with a new look.  I have a new birthday card, too... only the cheeziest will do :)  I got a bunch of comments about the "forest" from the old background photo, which was actually a really overgrown part of my back yard, so a real forest seemed appropriate.  The shots were done in River Bend Park, Difficult Run Park, and Great Falls Park, all of which are about 20 minutes from here.  There was lots of trudging and climbing, and some baffled kayakers wondering what in the hell the wierd dude with the flute was doing climbing around the cliffs in a white lounge lizard jacket and a cavalier hat.  Yeah, I really wear that to go out :)

Next on the agenda is some Legend of the Bat mixing, with new posts imminent, and then I'm diving into Milo 3, Frames, which is a bolero-type instrumental.  Those of you familiar with the Humwawa version will hear a very different treatment this time around.  More DragonSong tunes will be on their way over the next few weeks as well.

Europe has been postponed to the Fall due to financial considerations.  Sorry, but I had no choice.

Thanks to all of you for getting me into the world MySpace charts (classic rock) for the first time this week.  You guys rock.
