I invented Rick-Rolling.

Sort of.  Not really.

For those not familiar with the internet phenomena Rick-Rolling, here's a brief history.

In the early stages of the internet, I was living in a college dorm.  There was a guy on our floor named Jason who, like many, hated the tv show Full House.  No particular reason...just that it was an annoying, cutesy show that was shown on tv a lot during that time.

Whenever something really cool, interesting, important, was on tv, I'd sometimes run into Jason's room next door and tell him, "Quick!  Turn on channel 42."  Or whatever channel had something on he should see.

So sometimes when I'd be in my room flipping channels and find one of the many re-runs of Full House, I'd run next door and anxiously tell Jason to hurry up and put the tv on a particular channel.  The channel, of course, having Full House.  Bob Saget always had to be on the tv when I did this.

He fell for it many times.  Eventually, he became suspicious, but but still continued to trust me too much most of the time.  I needed to get creative.

We eventually rented an apartment, so it was even easier.  Recording an episode of Full House, and putting it in my VCR, or his, so it's playing when the tv is turned on.  Any interview with Bob Saget was fair game.

Around the end of 1996, long before any Rick-Rolling, I had taken it to the computer and the internet.

Jason loved the game Myst, and was eagerly awaiting the sequel to come out.  One time I told him I had downloaded a demo game of it on my computer.  I told him to click the shortcut on the desktop.  The shortcut had an icon from the first Myst game, and the description was "Myst 2: Playable Demo".  It was instead linked to an image of Bob Saget, which would blow up to full screen.

One of my finer moments.

Another time I had surfed the internet and bookmarked some sites I liked, as well as a link to a Bob Saget fan page (yes, one existed way back then).  He was a big Clive Barker fan and loved the Hellraiser movies, so I changed the link description to say, "Clive Barker's Virtual Hellraiser".  When Jason got home, I mention to him I had found some cool websites he should check out, and suggest he look at my bookmarks.

And that was how I invented Bob-Rolling.

As a bonus...

I'm kind of digging these videos:

This is truly an interesting, heart-warming story.

In 2002, Joe Miller was taking a vacation in Kenya after graduating from Tulsa Junior College

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Joe approached it very carefully. He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Joe worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to Joe, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Joe stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Joe never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

More than five years later, Joe was walking through the Tulsa Zoo with his new wife. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Joe and his Family were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Joe, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 2002,  Joe could not help wondering if this was the same elephant.  Joe summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of  Joe's legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.

No, I did not write the above passage, nor do I know who did.  It came to me in an e-mail forward, and I got a kick out of it.  Hope you enjoyed my act of plagiarism today.

There was a story today where President Obama says to Republican members of Congress that "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done."

I guess this is what Obama meant by "reaching out" to the opposition.

The lead-in for Sean Hannity's radio program features a montage of President Obama calling him (Hannity) out by name no less than five different times.

Of course, Obama is just following in the footsteps of the Democrat thugs who came before him.  Be it Senate leader Harry Reid, former President Bill Clinton, former wannabe President John Kerry, DNC head Howard Dean, or any number of powerful Democrats...it's been a recent tradition for the Democratic Party to use the power of their office to intimidate media personalities for daring to criticize them.

I challenge anyone reading this to produce evidence that high profile Republicans have ever specifically called out by name a member of the media, or spoke ill of a specific media organization.  I'm not aware of any, so please...inform me if I'm wrong.

It's bad enough that the media, in print and cable and network television, is overwhelmingly acting as mouthpieces and spin doctors for the Obama Administration.  It's bad enough that an entire cable network (MSNBC) is basically indistinguishable from the Obama Presidential campaign and press office.

It's downright un-Presidential and un-American for our President to use the power of his office to bully and intimidate a critic.  It's also thuggish and cowardly.  Hopefully the voting Americans will realize this before 2012 and vote President Obama out of office.

When cool videos began getting yanked from Youtube due to copyright violations or other issues, I found a way to download videos off Youtube.  I then began saving videos I liked in case they get removed.

Similarly, we're dealing with an analogous situation regarding news and political campaign websites.  It is no longer enough to bookmark a page where Barack Obama makes a statement you wish to use against him.  He'll be able to edit or remove entirely the offensive page...and furthermore, the older, often embarassing versions will somehow also be unavailable to be viewed through Google cached archives.

Now, the same thing is happening with news websites.  Entire pages are disappearing, and any evidence of their existence is going with it.  This is why, if you see something particularly juicy that you want to show someone or put in your blog, you're better off saving a copy of the page or making a screen-grab of it.

Take for example the Rod Blagojevich controversy.  The media is trying hard to absolve Barack Obama of any wrong-doing...trying a little too hard, if you ask me.

Shortly after the scandal broke, Barack Obama commented on the controversy, denying he had ever spoken to the Governor.  The relevant quote doesn't occur until a little more than three minutes into the clip, although I urge you to listen to the allegedly elloquent Mr. Obama stammer and babble about his working with Al Gore.  Take note of how many "uh"'s you hear, and that he only stops saying "uh" when he is reciting a well-rehearsed talking point or catch-phrase.

But I digress.  Shortly after Obama claimed he hadn't spoken with Blagojevich about the seat, conservatives in the media played this clip of Obama advisor David Axelrod from a couple weeks earlier, claiming Obama had met with Blagojevich (thereby contradicting Obama's statement).  NOTE:  Fox News Chicago, not to be confused with the Fox News Channel, has been getting this clip pulled from Youtube, so don't be surprised if the link stops working.

The Obama campaign began to immediately issue denials, and saying Axelrod "misspoke".  However, Axelrod was not the only person to make this claim.

A Tri-state television news channel had reported that a meeting between Obama and Blagojevich was to take place on November 5th to discuss his Senate replacement.  The story used to be at this link, but the station has since pulled the story (and it has disappeared from the Google archive cache, but you can see a screen grab by clicking here).  After much inquiry, KHQA claimed the story was a mistake.  However, someone then found another story on KHQA a few days later, written by an entirely different reporter, that reported on the meeting between Blagojevich and Obama that allegedly took place on the 5th.  As with the previous story, this one shortly vanished (but fortunately, some bloggers were able to get another screen-grab before it was entirely wiped from existence.

Soon it became painfully obvious that Obama had indeed met with Governore Blagojevich, when he appeared at a meeting of Governnors, and event so widely reported that it simply couldn't be scrubbed from our collective memories.  And yes, they did meet thereIt's also reported here about another meeting between the two screen grab here, in case the story vanished).  That's when Obama supporters began flooding talk radio and message boards stressing (lying) that Obama said he never spoke to the Governor specifically about the Senate seat.  Even still, this contradicts the KHQA stories, and the claims of Obama advisor David Axelrod.

However, the webstie for the State of Illinois contradicts Obama's denial.  I made another screen grab because the .pdf newsletter posted on the Illinois website describing the event has already disappeared.  The newsetter contains this picture with the caption "Governor Blagojevich confers with now President-Elect Barack Obama", and goes on to discuss the plans to fill the vacated Senate seat.  The now removed newsletter (formerly housed at this location).

Fox News Chicago (again, not the national cable network), has reported that sources claim Obama's chief of staff spoke with Blagojevich about the vacated Senate seat, and that it's likely been recorded.

Obama supporters are pointing to claims that Blagojevich was angry with Obama for not offering a bribe to name his own Senate replacement as proof the two never talked about the seat.  That's stupid logic...how could the Governor even know Obama was offering nothing without Obama's saying he's going to offer nothing.

Obama had a preferred candidate to replace him in the Senate, but oddly enough she withdrew her desire for the position shortly after the Chicago Tribune learned of the Blagojevich investigation.  As I've pointed out in previous blog entries, The Tribune has went out of its way in an extremely unethical matter to assist Barack Obama in his rise to power, so it would not surprise me if the Tribune tipped off the Obama campaign.

Call me crazy, but the media cover-up in this issue makes me look a little less paranoid, doesn't it?  With multiple media outlets now removing any evidence the denied meetings, the only person left making the claim seems to be Rod Blagojevich himself.   However, Rush Limbaugh played a segment from his show on December 11th, which was a montage of media pundits, anchors, and reporters all insinuating that Rod Blagojevich is crazy or delusionsal (you can find the transcript here).  To follow up, I did a couple quick searches on Yahoo News to see how many reputable news websites all jumped to the same Obama-friendly conclusion.  With little effort, I found much conformity of thought.

This Associated Press story was copied word for word (including the headline) here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.  Now you know why I refer to the mainstream media as "the cut n' past media".

And for those media outlets still creative enough to write their own stories, they still weren't creative enough to come up with a new angle. A sampling of the mainstream media outlets questioning Blagojevich's sanity can be found here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here.

So there it is, directly from the media.  Obama never met with Blagojevich to discuss the vacated Senate seat.  Stories?  What stories?  And anyone still making that claim is insane.  Move along, nothing to see here.

Someone challenged me to come up with a list of "inappropriate Christmas gifts" as a joke.  Near the top of my list was "an abortion".

Unfortunately, that notion is no longer a joke.

Planned Parenthood (a paradox of a name if there ever was one) is selling gift certificates for abortions.

What better way to celebrate the birth of our Savior than helping someone murder their unborn child?  Perhaps they throw in the bonus of a Nietzsche book, perfect for giving out at Easter.

Okay, the Nietzsche comment was a sarcastic comment, but Planned Parenthood is really selling abortion gift certificates.  It's as if an organization founded on the basis of eugenics which has helped legalize the slaughter of over one million unborn children per year in the United States (and over 40 million worldwide) said one day, "You know, we're pretty evil...but I think we could be more evil if we worked at it."

It's a brave new world we keep waking up in, and things are not going to get better with Barack Obama as President.  We have elected the most radically pro-abortion candidate in government.

Obama liked to brag that he was a non-partisan person willing to stand up to his own party.  The only time he really stood against the Democratic Party was to oppose the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

As a State Senator in Illinois, Obama opposed a bill that would have protected babies who survived an abortion.  This stance was so radical, there was not a single person in the United States Senate, Republican or Democrat, who opposed the federal version of the bill.

If there is legislation on the books that would harm an unborn child, Obama has and will support it.  If there's a legal way to protect an unborn child, Obama has and will oppose it.

Abortion claims the lives of roughly 3,000 of our most innocent, defenseless humans in America each day (including roughly seven or so which have perished as I wrote this column, and two more have perished as you have read it).  Wake the hell up, America.  Barack Obama and Planned Parenthood are not forces of good in our country.

On Friday, Barack Obama proved that he's an old-school, race-baiting political jackass.  During a speech Friday night he said:

"We know what kind of campaign [Republicans are] going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid. They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?
"

Only an idiot is going to fall for this level of race-baiting.  As if Republicans would have to remind people Obama is Halfrican-American.  There are three problems with this pathetic statement:

1) The fact that "he's black" is self-evident by looking at him

2) Obama himself, as evidenced in the quote, loves to remind voters of his race

3) The media constantly reminds us of this as well (the story I cited does so multiple times)

Once again, the empty suit, not remotely ready for prime time, political fool is tilting at windmills.  Setting up the straw-man and knocking it down.  Basically, contradicting his own claims that he both a uniter and a new kind of politician.

Earlier in the week, Obama further put his stupidity on display by making two claims about President Bush and John McCain's desire (and the desire of a large majority of the population) to open up off-shore drilling to increase the supply of oil and lower the price of gasoline.

First, he claimed that McCain was using "the failed policies of the past."  What?  The failed policies of the past are not conducting off-shore drilling!  He's either an idiot, or thinks his voters are.

Second, he also repeated the failed liberal mantra of the past, that doing so would not reduce the price of oil "for at least ten years".  I, and any thinking, rational person, have several issues with this statement.

1) It would only take ten years if the goverment slapped on needless regulations and continued to let radical environmentalists block production and shipment of the oil with lawsuits.  As a person who's worked in the petro-chemical industry for several years and am currently helping commission a large-scale facility, I know damn well the ten years claim is a gross exaggeration (again, unless liberals throw pointless roadblocks in the way).

2) Bill Clinton continued the moritorium against off-shore drilling around ten years ago.  Was it the right decission then?!?

3) Ten years from now, if Obama still has a political career (God forbid), he will still be making the same "ten years" argument.

4) Oil pricing is set by several factors, but one significant one is that the price is based on trading futures. When people realize that oil companies are taking actions to increase supply down the road, this will affect the level of investment as well as the price of the commodity.  Oil prices will go down as a result.

5) Starting to drill for more of our own oil will send a very strong message to some of our foreign sources of oil...that their high prices inspire us to drill for our own oil.  When confronted with this reality, they will have an incentive to lower the price of oil.

So please quit praising Obama for being intelligent.  He's not.  He's slick and has some decent speech writers.  When thinking on his feet or deciding policy, he's a freakin' disaster.

Democrats have a history of trying, and usually succeeding, in stealing elections.  From Kennedy's win over Nixon (aided by former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley Sr.'s ballot box stuffing) to Al Gore's repeated recounts in 2000, Democrat corruption has been on display for all to see.

I realize some liberals think Bush stole the 2000 election, and I could write an entire column pointing out they are wrong.  But in the interest of brevity, I'll just say a few things on the topic and move on.  Gore's recounts violated Florida law, and the United States Constitution.  "Minority disenfranchisement" is a lie since a greater number of whites were mistakenly purged from voter roles.  The initial count, the re-count, the other re-count, the other other recount, and every recount after the fact all show that Bush won Florida.  Now, let's move on.

I have not called the 2008 election of Barack Obama "stolen".  I did point out that he used illegal fundraising, had a symbiotic relationship with an organization synonymous with voter fraud, and enjoyed a pro-Obama bias that the mainstream media should hang their collective heads in shame over.  At the very least, Obama's victory is tainted. But I digress…it's not just Presidential elections that can be tainted or stolen.

On November 17, 2004, when all absentee ballots were received, Republican Dino Rossi was announced as the winner in the election for Washington State Governor.  He had a 261 vote lead over opponent Christine Gregoire.  A mandatory recount occurred, and one week later the results showed Rossi still the winner, this time with a 42 vote margin of victory.  Gregoire demanded a manual recount.  In King County, where there is a majority of Democrat election officials, several "uncounted ballots" were "found". The Democrat State Supreme Court all agreed to let this travesty of the electoral process continue, in spite of there being more votes cast in King County than there were registered voters.  Let me repeat: There were more votes cast than there were registered voters! Finally, Democrat Gregoire was declared the winner by a 129 vote margin.  No additional recount was allowed, and all legal challenged were shot down.

To say successive recounts always gaining votes for the same political party every time is a statistical anomaly is an understatement.  It's practically beyond the realm of possibility, in spite of it allegedly happening in multiple waves for both Gore and Gregoire.  Furthermore, one has to wonder why multiple recounts are allowed, but we're expected to stop recounts as soon as a single one declares the Democrat the winner.

In Minnesota today, another mockery of the electoral process is taking place.  Former comedian Al Franken is locked in a close election battle with incumbent Republican Norm Coleman for a U.S. Senate seat.  As of election night, Coleman had a narrow lead.  However, due to a number of individual counties re-counting their votes, Franken has gained several votes to narrow that lead.  Much like Washington in 2004, each re-counting has yielded a net gain for the Democrat.  Also much like Washington in 2004, several "uncounted ballots" were mysteriously "found".  A mandated recount is underway, and it won't come as any surprise of the recount process "finds" yet more votes for Al Franken.

In Alaska, something similar is happening.  Incumbent Senator Ted Stevens enjoyed a 3,000 vote lead on election night with 99% of the ballots counted.  However, after counting the remaining ballots (a large portion of which are absentee ballots) his opponent Mark Begich currently has a lead of 814.  What makes this especially hard to believe is that absentee ballots are mostly from those living abroad;  those living abroad are usually in the military; military votes tend to go Republican.  So again, successive recounts tend to favor Democrats.

Finally, there is the state of Georgia.  Republican incumbent Senator Saxby Chambliss enjoyed a lead of several percentage points over Democrat opponent Jim Martin.  However, there is one problem.  According to Georgia law, to be declared a winner the potential Senator must have at least 50% of the vote…otherwise a run-off election occurs between the two parties.  How much does Chambliss have?  He currently has 49.8% of the vote, meaning a run-off election is inevitable.  Chambliss had enjoyed a larger percentage of the vote as of election night, after the polls were closed.  However, much like Stevens and Coleman (and Rossi, and Bush, and Nixon in 1960), his lead was consistently chiseled away after election night…once again proving that recounts defy the odds and consistently favor Democrats.

These three Senate elections are very important.  As it stands now, Stevens looks like he'll lose in Alaska.  A recount will occur in Minnesota.  A revote will occur in Georgia.  If all three of these states magically yield Democrat victories, then Democrats will hold a total of 58 Senate seats, while Republicans hold 40.  The other two seats are considered Independent (being held by avowed socialist Bernie Sanders of Vermont, and Joe Lieberman of Connecticut).  Sanders tends to vote Democrat (duh!  He's a socialist!).  Lieberman has also voted along with Democrats, and if he continues to do so they the Democratic Party will have a 60 vote, filibuster-proof majority in the Senate.

Soaring taxes, soaring energy prices, outrageous inflation and unemployment, an emaciated military, suppression of free speech…that is what we are in for if Democrats get away with stealing these three Senate seats.

UPDATE 11-20-08

Franken is trying to disqualify this ballot.  Furthermore, according to this story, he has lied about justification for counting rejected ballots by fabricating a story that a woman had her ballot disqualified because she had a stroke, and therefore her signatures didn't match.

First the residents of Minnesota elect as Governor the clown Jesse Ventura, now they give us an election so close that a formerly funny comedian and failed radio host is likely to steal it.

Every thank Minnesota now...Thanks Minnesota.

Obama's path to the White House is not something I feel should be celebrated.  He got to his position with a bunch of dirty tricks, and even before taking office has shown his unpreparedness for the job ahead.

Obama's Rise to Power

To achieve his current position, Obama has behaved in an unethical matter, from early on in his career.  I've provided some of the more questionable tactics below:

        1) Launched his career from the home of an unrepentant, pro-socialist, anti-American domestic terrorist William Ayers
        2) Developed support in Illinois early on by affiliation with a radical, racist, anti-American preacher, Jeremiah Wright
        3) In his bid for the Illinois Senate, he used legal strong-arm tactics to get all four of his Democratic opponents removed from the ballot during the primaries (one of which was his political mentor, Alice Palmer)
        4) Voted "present" an exceptional number of times, thus avoiding taking any controversial stances that could come back to haunt him
        5) Repeatedly tried to get elected to higher office, thereby turning his back on his job and the voters who put him in office
        6) Benefited from both his primary and general election candidates for the U.S. Senate seat having their court-sealed divorce records unsealed
        7) Experienced over-the-top media favoritism (studies have supported this claim)
        8) Gave over $800,000 to ACORN, an organization notorious (even in previous years) for voter fraud (and tried to claim the $800,000 went to lighting for his campaign)
        9) Promised to take public financing and the limits that came with it, but went back on his word when he realized he could get much more money.  He claimed "small donors" gave him his own form of "public financing", but...
       10) Received massive amounts of campaign cash from corporate sources (20 donors such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and Time Warner have given him over $10 million)
       11) Held many celebrity sponsored $2500 a plate fundraising dinners
       12) Used a credit card contribution verification system that allowed donor to donate that provided different names than that listed on their card, and that allowed people to donate using refillable, non-traceable "gift card" credit cards (you could not do either trying to donate to John McCain on-line)
       13) Enjoyed the benefits of the mainstream media insinuating anyone not voting for Obama during the primaries or general election did so out of racist reasons

And that's just what we're aware of.

Not Ready for Prime-Time

Already Obama has demonstrated he can be just as daft and Dan Quayle-esque as President-elect as he was on the campaign trail.

When discussing the pet dog he would get for his family, me said he did not what to get a mutt like himself.  If any other politician had referred to a mixed-race person in public as a "mutt", the mainstream media would make damned sure he would have no political career.

He took a shot at former First Lady  Nancy Reagan to cover a minor slip-up when he said he would be talking to "living" ex-Presidents.  He said he would not be conducting seances like Mrs. Reagan.  Aside from being a cheap shot on a woman out of the public eye, there was no basis in fact for this comment.  Yes, Mrs. Reagan had consulted an astrologer after Ronald Reagan was shot.  But no, she did not try and hold seances.  In fact, it was Hillary Clinton who claimed to walk the halls of the White House and spoke with Elanor Roosevelt.  Really stupid and really classless on Obama's part, don't you think?

And Obama hadn't been President-elected but two days, and the world and the economy began to react:

        1) Russia moved missiles on the Polish border
        2) Hammas fired 35 rockets into Israel
        3) In Venezuela, Hugo Chavez took control of a privately owned gold mind
        4) The stock market took it's largest "day after the election" plunges

And to think, the media would brag on the fact that foreign countries and foreign leaders wanted Obama as President.   It's almost as if investors and foreign leaders know what we conservatives have been trying to tell you all along.

A friend of mine recently sent me a video from youtube which is from Barack Obama's official campaign website.  In it, actor Ed O'Neil (most famous for his portrayal of Al Bundy on "Married...with Children") sat at a computer and used Obama's "Tax Cut Calculator" to see how much his tax cut under Obama's tax plan would be.

The video can be seen below.

There is a problem with this video (aside from the fact that it lacks the charm and humor of the television series I used to love to watch), and that is that it's blatantly dishonest.  It implies that someone who makes $20,000 a year who is "married with children" will get a $1,000 tax cut.  In fact, just about anyone "married" and making less than $250,000 will be promised the same amount...nothing is actually "calculated" (yet another lie, but a minor one).

Someone who is married and makes $20K a year has roughly a $10,000 deductible and ends up with a total tax liability of just over $1,000.  Adding two more dependents to the equation (after all, "children" implies a minimum of two) will give another deductible of around $4,000, bringing the entire tax liability to under $700

So, someone who only pays $700 or less in taxes to begin with is promised a $1000 "tax cut"?  This is what is known as "welfare".  It means such a person, if Obama's fake calculator can be trusted, would pay no taxes, but would instead receive $300 or more in welfare.

There is yet more dishonesty to Obama's tax plan.  Obama plans on letting the Bush tax cuts (enacted in 2001) expire.  Even though doing so will cause taxes to increase for everyone who pays taxes, he does not count this as a "tax increase".  He lies and says he's taking away the "tax cut for the rich", even though it's a universal tax cut.

First Obama will raise your taxes, then give you a tax cut.  In the end, you'll not receive anywhere near the $1000 "tax cut" promised.  More than likely, your tax burden will increase.

The most aggrevating thing is, most Obama supporters will be paying more taxes, yet will be grateful to Obama for "cutting" their taxes.

Don't be fooled.  If you're voting for Obama, pay close attention to how much is taken out of your paychecks now, and compare it to how much is taken out if (God forbid) Obama is elected and enacts his "share the wealth" tax plan.  Compare your tax forms from the past couple years to those of the next couple years, and calculate the difference in tax rate you are paying. At least, if Obama can hoodwink you once, perhaps you'll not be so gullible again in 2012.
