The album, titled Strange World Beyond, will feature new and unreleased tracks from the duo of Frederic Moering-Sack and Christian de Jonquières (a.k.a. Phunklarique&Dejonka). That's a surprise, considering the boys have put out three 12-inches on the imprint in 2008 alone. But they've also included some of their club hits to garnish the new joints: "Black Smoker," "Superheated," "Carbonat" and "Central Mouth" are all set to appear on the CD, which includes 14 tracks altogether. The sound, as you might expect, is mighty similar to their work on the label thus far - "funky rocking moments of clubbiness" is the term that the press notes use - along with some moments of distinctly abstract beat-driven fare like "Loss of Focus" and emotional techno like "Digits Died Out." Pulsierende Minimaltracks gibt es ja immer wieder gerne, aber auf "Sympathetic" schafft es Piemont dem Groove so eine leichte jazzige Nuance durch die Vocals beizufügen und sich dann damit in eine Synthorgie zu stürzen, die fast schon Bilderbuchitalo wird, holt dabei aber nicht die kitschige Erinnerung ab, sondern wandelt den Track eher zu einem überraschend gradlinigen Hit. Die Rückseite plockert mit ihrem Groove wie eine Tischtennispartie im Elektroraum und verdaddelt sich in einen twistenden Groove, der sich tief und mit aller Breite eines perfekten Sounddesigns vor Chicago verbeugt.
