Hey friends, I hope all is well. Things have been fantastic for me, just moved into an awesome new house in East Nashville, Have been writing and arranging with Cadillac Sky for our new album, which we will start recording in Oct. I'm sitting in a coffee-shop now, drinking some burnt coffee listening to larry Sparks sing "Don't neglect the rose" I just got home last night from a weekend out in Colorado and New Mexico. I'll be home for a few days then off on the road again. This time with my very talented baby sis Jessica Lea Mayfield. She's doing a headlining tour and you all should come out to a show in your area. I'm also finishing up my latest solo album which should be finished by the end of June. I'm playing a mini solo tour in July to promote it. Hopefully some of you can make it out to one of those show's as well. Take care -Mayfield

Hey friends, I have some big news, I was recently asked to join the fantastic group Cadillac Sky! As of this moment, I am their newest member. I am playing guitar and singing harmony. I couldn't be more excited about this new adventure, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be challenged musically. They are a great bunch of guys, though we've only know each-other for a short time, we already feel like kindred spirits. I'm really thrilled to see where this band is headed and I'm looking forward to being apart of their creative process.
-David

Hey friends, just a little update to let you all know what I've been up to. I've been playing a lot with Andy Griggs we just played WE fest in Minnesota. It's the worlds largest country music fest. I've also been touring quite a bit with my baby sister Jessica Lea Mayfield. We did a west coast tour with the Avett Brothers and then we just finished another west coast tour with Lucero. It's been so much fun spending time with my sister and seeing all these cool things with her. While in Vegas we stayed at the Golden Nugget Casino where the pool boast a three story water slide that goes thru a shark tank! We went down the slide quite a few times! Let's see what else is new, I'm slowly but surly getting settled into my new house, It would be easier if I was home more often! I might get the chance to play music with some really cool guys in the near future so I'm very excited about that. Also if you haven't seen me in person for a while I've grown a massive beard. It's fun, but it makes hit harder to get thru the security check at the airport.

Hey friends, they mention my sister Jessica Lea Mayfield in the new issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, the one with the Eagles on the cover. This is her second mention in the magazine. She was briefly mentioned a couple months ago in the issue with Jack Johnson on the cover.

Well it's Christmas time again. I recently released my new record "For today" and am proud to finally present it to the public. I've had a great summer in Nashville, and on the road with Andy Griggs. We played some wonderful venues and some interesting places. I went to Vegas for the first time and actually won money! We played big festivals and county fairs all across the states. But what stands out the most would have to be our Opry performances. With Andy I have played the Opry 4 times this summer and will play it again in just two days! After that performance I will be spending time with my family in Ohio, and begin working on my third album. Recently I have been rehearsing some music with my sister Jessica Lea Mayfield, the artist formerly known as Chittlin' She has a new record in the works that will soon be released and I promise it will blow your mind. It is produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, and I was lucky enough to be asked to add some upright bass on a few tracks. Also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, Scott Avett, of the Avett Brothers is doing the artwork for her new CD, and what I've seen looks great! I can't wait for people to hear her new music and this new record. Take care music lovers and happy holidays! -David

My first show's with him are March 30th & 31st. I'm real exited about this job, Andy is a great singer! I will be playing acoustic/electric guitar, mandolin, banjo, and singing harmony vocals. I have also been playing some bluegrass since I've been in town. I played with a band called Tavern Grass last week at the 12 South Tap Room. Tavern Grass is: Casey Dreisen, Mike Bub, Tyler Grant, Chris Henry, & Josh McMurrey. I have also been filling in some dates with the amazing Rebel Records recording artist Dave Evans. If you havn't heard Dave, he is awesome pure mountain soul. Ralph Stanley meets Motown! Also been shopping my new album around It's so great to have it completed! Check back for more info on the new record and I will post some of my gigs with Andy soon. Take Care -David

Well big howdy friends, It's been a while since I wrote anything but I've been compelled to talk about all the fantastic things that have been happening in my life. I have just about completed working on my new c.d.. I'm very exited about it! The rest of the musicians are amazing and I'm proud of the song selection. I'm still not going to give out any details yet on the cast but expect to know soon. I may put up a couple teaser songs in a week or so when I get home. As I type this I'm sitting in a kitchen in West River Maryland, waiting for my lover to get home. Yes believe it or not I'm in love! We have been together for over 4 months and things are fantastic! She is my muse! She came to my house in Kent the day after Christmas and stayed with me until New Years Eve, when we drove to Maryland. I watched her play with her band "Driving force" at first night Annapolis. They sounded great! you can check them out at drivingforce.com then we went down by the dock and had a very romantic moment at midnight. We watched the fireworks in the rain cuddled quite snugly under a big umbrella. One of the fire works was shaped like a heart and bright red and the whole crowd went "Aaaaawww" at the same time, it was very cute! Now I'm staying with Leah and her family until Jan 6th when I go in the studio to begin work engineering an album for a terrific Ohio bluegrass group "Family Pride" I have some more tour dates with Corinne West coming up, and I will post them as soon as she confirms them. that should be fun. I am also playing with a really fun group "Chatfield" on Jan 12th at the Southgate House in Cinncinasty OH The band and audience all dress like gangsters from the 20's! I am also supposed to play some shows later this month in Nashville with Paul Brewster and Mark Fain. I'll let you guys know when and where as soon as I know the details. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a sexy New Year! Hope to see you soon!

Well big howdy friends. It's been forever since I wrote one of these and I haven't talked to a lot of you in some time. So I thought I would let you all know what is going on in my life. I have been touring a lot with Corrine West. A singer songwriter from California. We have played all over California, Oregon, Oklahoma, New Jersey, Ohio, New York, North Carolina, as I write this we are currently in Virginia. Next month we will be in Colorado & New Mexico. And in April and May we will be in The UK. I'm having fun and keeping very busy. aside from all of this touring I managed to record most of the tracks for my new CD in Nashville a week ago. I am very exited about this project, but I don't want to give anything away so I will spare you with the details. As cool as recording and touring sounds it is not the most exiting thing in my life right now. That would be the fact that I am in love. Hopelessly in way over my head in love. With the sweetest girl ever growed. I wont say her name but her initials are LEAH NEEDHAM. She lives in Maryland and even though we live far apart and I'm always on the road, we get to see quite a bit of each other. Not enough though. Well that's about it. stay tuned for info on the new record and hopefully I will get to see you all soon.

Well I have so much to tell since my last blog. I performed for a small village about two hours outside of Bangkok with my friend Steve the Magic man. We performed for about 300 children. It was amazing afterwards the mayor of the village gave us gifts. Cookies, and homemade real flowers lays, and they gave me a handmade wooden tradditional Thai instrument! then I was invited to sit with the elders and dring Singa Beer. that whole day was amazing! then the next daywe went down to soy cowboy in Bangkok and I got up and played guitar with an all Thai band that was fun. The next day we took a ten hour bus ride into the northeast part of Thailand "Isan Country" where we are staying in a very small village just outside of the city of Mukedehan with about 14 peaple. I have decided that god has punished me for all of my wrong doings by giving me the worst case of the runs I have ever had while staying in this small village with only one communal tradditional Thai Squat Toliet! I would trade my mandolin for a western toliet right now!! The Thai Toliet is just a hole in the ground you sqaut over and they dont use toliet paper! Insted they have a hose by the hole figure it out from there. I have seen many snakes and salamanders and other critters in this village. and I have to tell you I have eaton some of the most foul disgusting looking things you have ever seen. some it is pretty good. I've hade fish heads, insects, eeels, and all kinds of raw fish. Last night I hade a "whole" cat fish from the Mekong River. We performed in a school here in Mukedehan for about 200 students. they where english student so they all wanted to practice there english which is good because my Thai is Neet Noiy (Very Bad) I can however have some chit chat in Thai and order a full meal without shrimp and not too spicy. Tomorrow things are gonna get crazy. We will cross the Mekong river into Loas, and then we will take a two day slowboat ride down the Mekong River. We will end up in Cambodia. From there we will travel southwest to the Cambodian Islands. and then from there back to Bangkok, then to Tokyo, then home. I really miss all of my friends and family but I have to say this is quite an adventere Last night I sat in with a very popular Thai band. I played guitar and mandolin. Everbody went nuts! They were buying my Mekong Whiskey, and they took me out to eat afterwards and a very nice young lady named Jade who speaks good english took me on a crazy Motobike ride thru Mukedehan. And yesterday I sang Kareoke at a Vietmanies resturant. I sang Hound Dog by Elvis, I think they thought I was elvis. They were bringing me gifts on stage and wying me. (It's a sign of respect that looks like praying) all in all its been crazy and I cant even explain it. Everthing is different. the sights, sounds, smells, Last night I ate something that was so spicy I cried. My eyes didn't water, I cried like a baby. I thing I almost died. Now I know how to say Mi Oie Pet which means I dont want spicy! any way I will try to write again soon.

Well it's official! I'm writing this from another continent! I am currently sitting in an internet cafe on kaosan road in Bangkok, Thailand. I have to say having everyone I love on the otherside of the world, with thousands of miles of Pacific ocean between us is most definitely the scariest, sickening, and exiting feeling I have ever expierenced. It's the definition of independence. I can't call my dad to come and pick me up. This keyboard is in Thai, so I'm trying to type from memory! anyway the flight here was exausting. The 14 hour flight from Detroit to Bangkok was on a huge 500 seater plane and it was overbooked! About four hours into the trip I began to feel unbelievably nausios but then I realized that it was because the in flight movie was the Dukes of Hazzard. I managed to watch about 7 minutes of it before falling asleep. It was way funnier in Japanese than english though. about 6 hours into the trip as we were flying over Alaska I was standing in the back of the plane looking out the window at the endless frozen land below when a group of Japanese business men grabbed my arm (I was wearing a short sleeve shirt at the time) and started comparing my complection to the barron land below. It was the most pure white I have ever seen. when we landed in toyko it was freezing we got off the plane on stairs outside and then crammed onto a bus and road to the airport. I was practically standing in the drivers lap there were so many people on that bus. What a culture shock to step o to a plane in Detroit and then get off in Toyko! the flight to bangkok was only seven hours I watched the brothers grimm. and slept some. when we got to bangkok we got into the country no problem. I have to say the Driving is crazy! no merging! no turn signals! the flow of traffic is so start stop jerky I almost threw up! We are staying at a guest house that is great! far from the hotel and the tourists. it is very much filled with culture. you have to take your shoes off outside before you enter anyones house including our guest house. then there is the bathrooms! there is a toliet and no toliet paper just a hose that you use to rinse your bottom. then the shower nozzel is above the toilet and you sit on the toilet to take a shower! all of this is done barefoot! Yesterday I went and picked out my material for my suit. light Grey with white pinstripes. cashmere. He measured me and is making a custom four button suit and pants and I have to go back today at noon for a first fitting . later that day I splurged on a traditional Thai Massage. 250 Baht! (around 4 dollers US) It was a little painfull but I felt better afterwards. they lay you down on a mat and just bend your arms and legs to the point were you think you are gonna break! then that night I played someones guitar on Soycowboy Rd. they went nuts. all of the bars there have "Country music" Thai stlye they thought I was Elvis! I have to perform on Saturday for the US Embassy Well I will go for now and try to write back soon. -David
