So thank God October is over! That had to be the worst month of the year for us. The kids and I were sick all month it seemed. One thing after another....ear infections, colds, bronchitis...I had a cough for 3 weeks! I know everyone is dealing with this right now, and I feel your pain. We are now in November and I pray that this month is better for us. We are putting together our band for Christmas shows and will start rehearsals soon. This is my favourite time of year and can't wait for the shows this season. We get to go to St. Augustine in a couple of weeks and I'm really looking forward to that. It will be like a little get away for Rob and I . My mom and sisters are coming in to town to help out with the kids for a bit and I am soooo relieved!! We can actually get some things done:) So I guess what I'm saying is I want to just forget october....

So last night we played the Summer Swing Concert Series in Opelika, AL. What a great night! The weather was beautiful, there was a great crowd, it was just perfect. You cannot beat the weather down south these days. It's not humid. What? Middle of July and it's not humid. It's crazy nice. The place where they hold this concert series is at this great park. There are like 5 playgrounds, tons of shade, and a train! We had Wilson's 3rd birthday party there last year and he had a blast. I took the kids there on Saturday hoping the train would be working, but it was being repaired. Wilson was bummed. But last night it was in full working condition. They call it monkey park, but I have not seen any monkeys yet.

Rob is doing a recording session right now with a great spoken word artist here in town.

I scrubbed the floor today for 2 hours? I'm not kidding. If you have hardwood floors DO NOT use Orange Glow on them! I had a nasty, caked on film that would not come up. I actually had to get on my hands and knees and scrub it off with a scrub brush! The whole downstairs! Good thing we don't have a big house! Arms are sore.
I'm rambling....

Here's Rob, Pat & I after the show:)

I just sold my hair salon a couple of weeks ago. So now I'm in cleaning mode. My house is finally staying clean more often! Also, I am getting everything organized and clearing out the clutter! I can't stand things in storage. Rob, however is a bit of a packrat. He will hold on to things that he will never use again, but just can't throw them away! Is this a guy thing? Anyway, our MT headquarters used to be kept at the salon....so guess where all that stuff is now? Yes....in my garage! Along with toys, tools, boxes of Rob's childhood, even a fish that is mounted on the wall from when Rob when fishing as a young child. Get the picture?? Not working for me! HaHa... I have decided to keep up with the cleaning mode and get rid of all our old inventory. These CD's have got to go! I really want to get everything in order to record the next one, so part of that means we need to clear out some of these previous titles. Help me would you? They are only $5, just to cover the cost of what we made it for and shipping. That's cheap right? It's a great time to try our music if you never have or send a CD to a friend. Well, I would greatly appreciate any purchases you make and can't wait to tell you when the new CD is in the works!
THanks guys!
Jen

I recently sold a house (I got my real estate license last fall, but that's a nother story) to a couple that had been living in an RV for the past year and half.  Before they bought the RV, they sold their house and sold most of their 'stuff' or gave it away.  The RV literally became their home.

They travelled all over the US & Canada including Alaska!  And this was during the gas hike when it was like $5/gallon!

Anyways, that hits so close to home for me....been there, done that! It just reminded me of the time when we lived in our camper van for 4 years.  During those years I couldn't imagine life any other way nor did I want it.

Two years ago, just before we decided to try our hands as a "small business owner by opening Streak Hair Studio", we were very close to buying a deluxe class C motorhome.  We were ready & willing to hit the road playing music anywhere & everywhere again.  For whatever reason, we opted for the "small business idea" which we just sold last week.

So here I am again, 2 years later, wanting everything that comes with life on the road.   I wonder what it would be like had we bought the RV, would we be selling it now?

It was nice having some down time last night and actually get to enjoy a bottle of wine and dinner with some friends.  Rob fired up the BBQ and cooked steaks!

Thursday night we played the Atlanta Room at Smith's Olde Bar.  Great intimate venue with great sound. Thanks to all of you who made it out, it....okay I'm back, just had to break up a little kid feud. Wilson & Emery are outside playing and Wilson decided it would be fun to spray sissy with the water hose! She didn't think it was funny.

Side note....can't believe Djokovic is down 2 sets in the 3rd Round of the French Open.

Not much in the way of gigs coming up until mid June.  Think we are going to use this time to re-work some songs & start recording a new project.

Our new myspace page is up which is also serving as our temporary MT homepage for now.  check it out at www.marthastrouble.com

Congradulations to our good friend Chris Rosser whose song "Make A Wish" was just licensed for use in the "John & Kate" PREMIERE this Monday!  Chris has produced several MT records and is also a nationally recognized songwriter.

Last week he called to see if Jen could sing the vocal on the song as the music supervisor wanted to hear the song sung by a female.

Apparantly after many edits they decided they preferred a male vocal for the show.  We will all have to wait till Monday night to hear the final version, but you can bet it will be great.  Chris wrote & recorded the song on the night we all got the call for submission. Pretty impressive!

I can't believe we are here. It took some prayer I'll tell you! Rob and I were supposed to leave last Saturday to come up here to see my family. A much needed vacation!!! I was so excited and couldn't wait. Then we looked at my green card. Appartently I had expired in March!! Ahhhh!!! It's good for 10 years, so it's not something you check every day, and we travel a lot so I just had no idea. Bascially this meant if I left the country, I wouldn't be able to get back in! A small problem. We called the border and a very very nice supervisor said he would give me a paper to get me back in so I could then renew my card....a good $450 later! But the good news is, when I renew, for an extra $30 I can apply for my citizenship! Then the kids and I would be dual! So as soon as I get an extra $500....I'm on it. Let's hope I don't get kicked out of the country! :)
So we are having a great time here. Time with family, which the kids are having a blast, shopping in Toronto, dinner to celebrate our anniversary, great weather....oh yeah, and yesterday at lunch i think we overheard two girls trying to get illegal documents to be in the country to work from the two guys....and I think they were strippers! It was pretty shady!???!!! Good times. Okay, on to another beautiful day and some more shopping!

This morning I went out to get some coffee at Tim Horten's, our favorite coffee & donut shop.  Yes, while we are in Canada we lay off the Starbucks and tend to drink more Tim's Coffee.

Ah the air in Canada is so 'fresh'.  Hard to explain in words, but today is like the perfect weather.  Blue skies, sun shine, temperature right around 69 degrees.  And when you step outside and breathe the fresh air in, you just feel so alive.

This weekend is the May two four weekend.  Everyone has a long weekend.  Today we are hitting the mall to get passport photos made.

When we left for the trip yesterday Rob couldn't find his ring, kind of his "2nd Wedding Ring".  And a couple days before that we were doing a writing session with somone in Auburn and we had lost the lyrics to a new song we were working on.

Well this morning when Rob was going through his suitcase he found his ring! no idea how it got in the suitcase!

And when we pulled out the laptop this morning the lyrics to this song were in the bag!!

Things are looking up.
