Me thinks the musicians have been left alone to sail this ship...

Ever wary of the spam pirates and virus sharks...

All alone we drift on our lonesome musical sea...

The others have thrown themselves overboard, face first into Facebook...

And I shall follow them.

I leave behind my guitar and picture of myself, a living lie of myspace angles, frozen in time. Forever.

Dreams do come true...

I'm opening for michelle malone on october 5th at the crimson moon in dahlonega.

When i moved to atlanta in 2001 and met my best friend, Mikey, we used to joke and dream about opening for michelle or the indigo girls.  it was a fantasy... not a possibility.

Mikey won't be there on sunday when we realize that dream, but i know his heart will be.  These kind of experiences give me so much hope.  Life is good.  Dreams do come true.

I love life.

I miss you, Mikey.

Current mood:happily trapped
I was writing a response to a post on Michelle Malone's blog and I suddenly realized I was writing my own blog within her blog, so I did a little cut and paste job...

I love connecting with other awesome artists.  I had a roller coaster week too... played my 2nd ever show at Eddie's Attic last week with Adrianne, Doria Roberts, Gareth Asher, and Trey Rosenkamff (way way way up), then I played Paris Decatur where NO ONE in the building knows ANYTHING about the sound equipment and it took 2 hours to get the stage and sound set up leaving us to do sound check with a crowd in the room - fun stuff.  I got hammered off Tanqueray and tonic and played progressively less impressive sets.  Thank God it was an Atlanta show and most of the crowd were friends of mine.  I did cover Katy Perry's 'I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It' with some assistance from the Drag Kings that were going .. me.  Sexy.  Then I was supposed to play the Crimson Moon with Sonia Leigh and Levi Lowrey, but Sonia had a family emergency and they had to cancel.  I was depressed about it because Sonia's a great friend and I love playing with her, but I took the headlining slot to cover for her and ended up nearly selling out the Moon on my own.  It was awesome.  In fact, I'm still in Dahlonega... they won't let me leave. :)

There is something incredible about this place.  Magical.  I've always said that Dahlonega, GA must be some sort of vortex of good energy, and this week has gone a long way to confirm that for me.

I want to thank everyone who was at the Crimson Moon on Saturday night... everyone who came to see me, everyone who wanted to see Sonia Leigh and Levi Lowrey but came anyway and gave me a chance, everyone who just wandered in off the square and stayed all night, and of course, everyone who works at the Moon.  Thank you for packing it in and making me feel like a rockstar.  Thank you for being supportive and open to new music.  Thank you for singing along and - at times - chanting on command (that was awesome, y'all!), and thank you for reaffirming my love of this place and it's people.  That was one of the best nights I've had in a long time.  I really enjoyed myself and enjoyed spending time with all of you.

There's a live recording of the show and Bob (the kickass sound man!) and I are working on mastering and mixing it down.  It should be available within a week or two.  I can't wait to hear the best "Brown Dog" sing along EVER!

I had such a great time here that I haven't been able to leave!  I'll be out at the Donna Hopkins/Diane Durrett show this saturday, so y'all c'mon now!  Maybe I'll see you there...

So many thanks and much love,
barb

Hey y'all,

I'm looking to do a festival tour next spring/summer - NATION WIDE!  So, I need help.  I know a lot of the cool festivals in Atlanta, and a few in NC, but that's about it.  Where ever you're from, it would be a huge help to me if you could pass on the names of a few cool festivals in your area that would be appropriate for me (by appropriate I mean, as much as I would love to play Bonaroo, that's not really the level I'm at, and no matter how much you might think I rock, I probably wouldn't fit in too well at a local adaptation of Warped Tour).  Local neighborhood festivals are good (equivalent to Virginia Highlands Festival or Inman Park Festival in Atlanta), and especially good would be any folk-rock specific, women in rock, or GLBT events.  It's a little easier to get booked at a festival if you fit nicely into their specific niche.  That said, shoot me some ideas!  I'm sure after a winter of playing small venues we'll have a blast rockin' it out good and hard when we get out in the open air of the festival circuit!

Thank so much!

I've been popping around myspace looking at my friends' blogs and thinking about how incredibly far we've all come.

It's amazing.

Tomorrow night Sean is opeing for Cell at this major new venue in Atlanta...
Sean himself is venturing into the producer role...
Sonia's on the tour bus with Zac Brown and feeling that tingle of super-stardom...
Hollin and Arrie are on the road in Northern Cali livin' the life...
Amy just released her first CD...
Julia has begun to carve out a niche that looks an awful lot like Ani's...
Emily has this great new band that rocks like crazy...
And here I am, sitting at home in North Carolina, booking my first tour...

We all stood on those small dirty stages with big dreams and huge hearts... and each other.

We were the Track Pack.  And we will always be.  No matter how far we go - and we'll all go far - we'll still be those hopeful kids who drank too much and forgot their lyrics and played their guitars out of tune and loved and supported each other anyway.  I'm proud to be a part of such an amazing group of musicians.  I love all of you guys.  And I am so, so proud of us...

I'm collaborating with some good friends and fellow musicians, Arrie Bozeman (lead guitar player extrodinaire) and Shana Blake (of Charlotte's Near Misses) to put together a fall 2008 tour.  A lot of artists book venues first and fill in the empty dates with house concerts, but we're doing it the other way around (and they call John McCain a maverick? pppffhh!).  We do have some dates that are already booked, but for the most part we're wide open... for now.   If you're interested, please message me at this site or email me at wheresbarb@yahoo.com for more information.  As we start to book dates, first come first served will have to give way to a logical tour schedule, so the sooner we hear from you, the better!  I'm excited about getting this tour put together and getting to know some of you beautiful people!
