Current mood:  sad
'Lou Contento' was the antithesis of comic book villain he portrayed...

It is with sadness that I announce to fans of the Villikon Universe the passing of original comic book character model 'Lou Contento.'

Lou passed on June 3, 2007.

When artist Roy Young and I set out to create a look for all the characters in the comic book series, the character of HIGH ADMIRAL 'NEFARIOUS PELYKOSAUR SKRYTON' was one of our greatest challenges. Skryton was a powerful character, the villain who commanded VENOM'S MAJESTY as Intelligence Czar of the Itascan Sector. He needed to be feared and revered, and in the world of Villikon comics, Lou Contento commanded the fierce presence we were looking for.

In reality, Lou Contento was one of the kindest men you could ever want to meet. At 74, he was more active than most will ever hope to be at his age. His zest for life and having fun were inspirational to all who knew him, and while his contributions in life were surely not overshadowed by his appearance as a comic book villain, it surely fascinated his grandchildren and gave him a tall tale to tell, which began in VILLIKON CHRONICLES book one, on page 5, and inspired the portrayal of his character in the forthcoming film, THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES: GENESIS OF EVIL. He was a kindred neighbor to all, and we will all miss him a great deal.

Death can never be the end.
Death is the road.
Life is the traveller.
The Soul is the Guide.

In a drama spanning ten years, in a time and space distant from our own, amicable and loathsome characters come to life in THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES and personify the intricacies of military valor, ancient prophecies, forbidden love, political strife, and criminal punishment in a fantastic tale seasoned with gothic eroticism, soldiers of fortune, and military bureaucracy against the backdrop of a prison world with no reprieve.

*****SERIES AVAILABLE FROM DIAMOND DISTRIBUTION AND YK PRODUCTIONS DIRECT!*****

The Epic Begins in book #1…

Captain Kort Villikon, a respected soldier and great military commander is framed for the horrendous crime of genocide by his nemesis, and once trusted first officer, Malcolm Vismal. Vismal banished Villikon to the prison world of Itasca, maliciously assumed his career, his home, married his wife, and became stepfather to his son Jazar, much to the dismay of her father and Villikon's mentor, Vice General Rybolt. Separated from the outlaws he was banished with, Villikon acclimates to his life as an exile over a period of several years, kindles a short-lived romance with a marooned slave rogue named Mystere, and evades mutant creatures, illegally abandoned on Itasca by scientific forces under the command of maliciously tempered High Admiral Skryton, overseer of the planet. Unaware of Vice General Rybolt's political plans for his exoneration, Kort Villikon roams the treacherous deserts of Itasca with Exuma, his Dirt Whale, avoiding warmongering clans, pirates, and a vampirical race known as the Porphyrian Hive. Existing in a villainous society with no hope for escape, Villikon searches for a place to call home. The lore surrounding his adventures, the tales of those he led, conquered, and loved, are recorded and known as The Villikon Chronicles…

The Tale Continues in book #2… Pilgrimage of Hope

His pending rescue unbeknownst, Villikon discovers a hidden oasis through the cleft of a dormant volcano in the desert wastelands of Itasca. He encounters a peaceful society of second-generation villagers who believe he is the prophesized leader of their escape. Villikon marries an Itascan native and learns of a legendary starship crashed in the northern hemisphere. Villikon realizes his old acquaintance Mystere was marooned on Itasca aboard the same legendary ship, and sets out on a quest with his wife Zandora, their child, and the villagers, to seek out Mystere and find the lost craft. The crusade favors some, but disillusions many as faiths are tested under extreme conditions.

Elsewhere on the planet, Imperium Forces arrive from the home world to begin searching for Villikon. But a corrupt intelligence officer intends to protect the horrible secret he abandoned and still hides from the military for over a half-century - a genetic weapon, which spawned a vampirical race of foes, dwelling under the dreadful surface of the planet.

The Story Concludes in book #3… Escape From Itasca

Searching for a mythical space vessel after nearly a decade of exile, Kort Villikon leads a pilgrimage for salvation to the northern hemisphere of the penitentiary planet Itasca, a region plagued by bitter cold and giant underground dwelling gastropods. The Porphyrian syndicate, ruled by the evil Master Creighton, his succubus queen Sha'leste, and insidious under lords Silas and Soloman, jeopardize the crusade's quest for freedom. The corrupt military forces of High Admiral Skryton and Villikon's arch nemesis Malcolm Vismal, further doom Villikon's freedom expedition. Amnesty, conspiracy, and catastrophic consequences are realized at the end of an adventure littered with blazing battles, seismic planetary quakes, startling revelations, illicit encounters, cave-dwelling leviathans, and a clandestine vampire hive.

Nine Centuries before the IMPERIUM HOME WORLD of ROMA created space travel and formed a galactic government; a kingdom reigned supreme on the largest planet in the universe. Time before Emperor Kramgassel is unknown, unrecorded, and infinitely non-existent. His guidance impelled obedient magistrates to create recorded history with an alphabet and system of writing beginning with Him.  Kramgassel prophesized of the future and because no system of recorded history existed before Him, He was accepted as history's beginning, and predictor of the end.

Emperor Kramgassel ruled the planet ROMA and theorized that the skies were populated by other civilizations. He prophesized His planet would conquer the heavens, and establish a kingdom of order and civility among beings populating the universe. Kramgassel was married to an exquisite woman named Valexis.  Valexis bore Him twin sons on the night of an explosion in space, which was the creation of another galaxy. Kramgassel's subjects related the light in the sky and the birth of twin sons as a foreboding symbol of Kramgassel's malevolence and influence of time and space beyond ROMA.

Nine centuries later, the written words of Kramgassel, His Magistrates, and Disciples through time are the HOLY SCRIPTURES of the entire universe.
Although its logic is non-existent, Kramgassel's written prophecies of the last days have been interpreted as truth since their conception. The written decree has had divine influence, which erected the Empire, established fear, told of an after-life, preached of consequence, and teaches to deny all truths going against the texts of Kramgassel's Decree.

KRAMGASSEL's DECREE is the foundation of religious beliefs throughout the universe. It chronicles the lives, loves, and battles of Kramgassel's sons Ahga Kiah and Rol'Amiel, their descendant's, and followers.

KRAMGASSEL's DECREE outlines the creation of space travel, the galactic government, laws for living, and foretells of an apocalypse born from the behaviors of those who worship either of Kramgassel's two sons, Ahga Kiah or Rol'Amiel.

It is written that Ahga Kiah killed his own mother and was marked by his father as the embodiment of evil for all time. Kramgassel cast Ahga Kiah, his first son, out of His kingdom to dwell in the valley of its wastes. Ahga Kiah worshipers are deemed wicked and doomed to eternal existence in THE VALLEY after mortal death.

Rol'Amiel was Emperor Kramgassel's second son. He was the Prodigal Son whose descendents inherited Kramgassel's rule for eight centuries before military rule became more widely accepted with the invention of space travel. Religious worshiper's of Rol'Amiel are accepted as a religious faith. A faith of good living, favored as the righteous path to eternal salvation according to KRAMGASSEL's DECREE.

Creator Bryan J. Kinnaird has reissued the sci-fi warrioress poster series"MYSTERE," based on the breakout character and galactic diva made popular in the graphic novel series, THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES. Former Penthouse Pet CARA FAWN (a.k.a. CHEYENNE SILVER), stars in this sexy lithograph set, a best-selling poster series at conventions and trade shows across America.

Exquisitely painted by original Villikon artist ROY YOUNG, this package is a must for any fan of the VC series, and especially those of scantily clad sci-fi heroines such as pin-up favs Julie Strain, Barbarella, Lucy Lawless as Xena Warrior Princess, Vampirella, and anyone who fancies the artwork of buxom comic book beauties.

The lithograph 4-set is a journey deeper into the Villikon Chronicles saga; depicting four scenes, each formatted as a 13" x 17 ½" UV coated print, suitable for framing. Liquid resistant, fingerprints wipe off with ease, won't warp in the heat, and 'Mystere' in the shape of a spectacular beauty come to life in fine detail.

• Poster 1 "Tribal Face" is a preview from the long awaited prequel to The Villikon Chronicles titled THE CRUCIBLES OF MYSTERE, and teh forthcoming short film THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES: GENESIS OF EVIL. Mystere is depicted during her time on Itasca as a Wicca with a tattoo-looking design bored into her skin during a black magic ceremony using HADAMAH SAND MITES, which only shows through skin when red mud is applied. This scene also shows KORA, Mystere's original DIRT WHALE, and portrays her travels to the BROWN SEA off the COAST OF ITASCATOPIA.

• Poster 2 "Jasta's Desert Warrior" is a re-imagining of the classic scene from The Villikon Chronicles graphic novel series when Mystere, as her surrogate father's most trusted reconnaissance agent, observes the penitentiary ship SEPULCHER dispose of its outlaws on Itasca.

• Poster 3 "Pursuit of Mystere" is another re-imagined interpretation from The Villikon Chronicles. Inside the Lair of Creighton, Mystere postures for battle as her Porphyrian infected alter ego. Begorra, Sha'leste, and Fallon loom in the background as Porphyrian hybrids in pursuit of their surrogate sister.

• Poster 4 "Kramcutioner Armor" is a preview from THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES II: RITES OF ABOLITION. Wielding a sword of BALTIC SIAM against the backdrop of an Itascan processing station for galactic refugees, Mystere dawns the costume of the future's most elite army, the Kramcutioners.

Shane Dean is sure to receive critical attention later this year when his portrayal of comic book villain, Commander Malcolm Vismal, from THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES hits the big screen...

A veteran of the Solar Wars, Malcolm Vismal was mentored as first officer aboard the Providence - a vessel under the command of Kort Villikon. What happens before the events of the acclaimed graphic novel series is the subject matter of this highly anticipated short film,"THE VILLIKON CHRONICLES: GENESIS OF EVIL"

"Shane Dean portrays the opportunist, eager for a command of his own, with an intensity that truly personifies the same lust for power that fuels Vismal to maliciously conspire with an equally corrupt High Admiral."

Shane Dean also "jocks" a RADIO SHOW called "RADIO X," which is broadcast over the web at WWW.KWSS1067.COM

Frank Miller's 300 took in $70 million making it the biggest opening of 2007 so far, replacing Ghost Rider which opened at $45 million. All hail to the power of comic books and graphic novels! I'm a big Frank Miller fan, so it should come as no surprise that I loved co-writer/director Zack Snyder's 300. The movie clocks in at 117 minutes, and truly brings Frank Miller's acclaimed graphic novel to life by combining live action with astonishing virtual backgrounds that capture his distinct vision.

300 sticks closely to the Frank Miller comic on which the film is based. It's a visual masterpiece, a testament to fantasy, and truly the way the battle would have looked in the minds of the Greeks, and an inspiration for all comic and graphic novel inspired films currently in post production or hereafter to be developed. 300 has a completely original look. and is breathtakingly beautiful. There are moments in the film when it looks exactly like a painting. To me that's part of what makes it so unique. The trailers for the film's look seemed like another version of ..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Sin City, but the similarities in style are fewer than you think. The costuming is fabulous, as are the sculpted bodies put under the fabric. Women who see it may cringe at the brutality, but swoon over hundreds of ripped abs and statuesque bodies posed throughout the film. Snyder has a similar eye for female sensuality, with women clad in wispy fabrics.

The carefully crafted battle footage makes it more than worth watching Leonidas lead his men to the glory of death against the forces of Xerxes. 300's careful costuming and sensuous style is erotic. Gerard Butler's Leonidas dominates the film. When he bellows for his men to follow him into hell, his voice is chilling and full of raw power.

Only the greatest warriors on Earth could hold off an army of millions with only 300 men. And only a stylized vision of these Spartan warriors could hack and slash their way to number one at the box office this weekend, and even more impressive was the turn out for an R-rated release in March. Conratulations, Frank Miller!

Fans voted LUCIPHIUS at villikoncomix@hotmail.com as their favorite villain from the VILLIKON UNIVERSE in 2006...

Military Designation: Divine Proctor , faith administrator, and spiritual advisor to the military. Criminal Record: Divine Proctor Luciphius was banished to Itasca by the Realm of Divinity for attempting to resurrect the religion of Ahga Khia.. Personal: Born under the blood line of Kramgassel's good son Rol'Amiel, his lineage gave him the right to serve as a Divine Proctor. The full powers of the Proctors are unknown and unimaginable. But as Luciphius was born a Divine Proctor, he worshipped the evil traditions of the long banished religion created by Prophets of Ahga Khia. Luciphius plotted to resurrect the ancient religion, but the Realm of Divinity, and the wisdom of Arbiter I'sokk, interrupted his plans. Luciphius was excommunicated and exiled to the prison world of Itasca. Infected by Porphyrians on Itasca, Luciphius was changed into their form and inherited their appetite for blood. The consummate rebel, Luciphius roamed the deserts of Itasca as a renegade Porphyrian, managing to keep his feelings, and his soul. Luciphius was tortured and torn between lingering feelings of humanity and animalistic Porphyrity. He chose not to live in the underground hives with other Porphyrians and rebelled against Creighton, the Porphyrian leader. In an encounter with Kort Villikon, Luciphius fell over a cliff. His whereabouts and existence are unknown.
